HELP! The first time someone calls, they can hear me but I can't hear them - if they then call back again, it works normally!

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 06:18 AM PDT

I'm on a Sony Xperia 5 II. This problem started less than a week ago.

If someone calls me, or I call someone, I can't hear them (but they can hear me). If we hang up, and call again, the problem is gone.

For casual calls this isn't terrible, but it's really awkward for important calls.

I have tried restarting my device. There is no available software update. I do not know what else to try.

Phone not showing incoming calls, except for tiny icon at top of screen. Main sound volume is off and appears to be locked

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 10:58 AM PDT

    Hey there buddos.

This issue isn't happening with my phone, but with my mother's. Due to that, it'll take some time provide a model number or answer any specifics, if requested.

Basically all I know is it's a Samsung. I think it may be the S10 but I'm really not sure.

Title pretty much says it all. She can make phone calls, but it doesn't display that someone is calling except at the top bar (next to wifi, data, and battery). When I call her, it rings on my side, and will say "Missed Call from [Son]" on her phone.

The first thing I tried was going into volume, and I noticed the main volume is off and greyed out. This doesn't explain why nothing appears on the display however.

Checked for all the obvious stuff: airplane mode, driving mode, etc., but to no avail. Didn't have much luck googling the issue, but I've heard others saying this latest update automatically switched to the wrong network, so this could be the issue. Haven't pulled the SIM card yet, since she's paranoid I'm going to look through her phone.

Anyway, thanks for the help. Lemme know if you've got any questions and I'll try my best to answer them.

    Dead S7 revived??

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 11:46 AM PDT

Back last November, my S7 Active had a complete shutdown. Nothing on the screen and a solid blue LED, wouldn't turn on or force restart either. Today I was just messing with it to see if I could get it to turn on. Weirdly enough I did, I went to the custom os warning screen, pressed volume down to cancel and restart it. It turned back on for the first time in months, anyone know why this happened and why it powered on after the custom os backout? (Also yes it will crash while still on, but does restart most of the time and does force restart now.)

Looking for a microSD for Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. I have questions about the classes, can you help?

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 11:31 AM PDT

Since Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite could support up to 1 TB of external storage, I'm looking for it and I did my homework and learned these:

    • There are speed classes up to 10 and I will definitely go with Class 10, no doubt.
    • There are two UHS class, UHS 1 and UHS 3 and I'm not sure which one should I go with. The difference between these two is the write speed according to google.
    • Lastly there are A1 and A2 classes which means application performance classes and I'm not sure for this one too.

So I'm not a heavy camera user. I don't take too much video or photo, just a daily usage that's all but I do download apps and I don't want to force myself to decide which apps should stay on my tablet. This is my main reason for adding external storage actually. Since I aim for installing apps and using them freely, should I go with A2 class cause they said A2 has higher application speed for smartphone but the question is how much this speed difference is noticeable? and what about UHS 1 or UHS 3? Which one should I go for my usage scenario? I also don't want to feel that my application opening slowly because they're in microSD card. App opening speeds are the one what makes smartphone snappy and I don't want to make the wrong choice. Any help would be appreciated.

Signal App on Android 10 delete chats

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 10:43 AM PDT

Hello. I have a question, regarding erasing data on an Android 10 device.

Can you permanently delete data on a phone, especially Signal chats? I got the info that deleting them, having no backups and a strong device password is a good start.

But how about someone having the open device? I read that it's not hard to get the data if you don't rewrite the free space. How can you do that on a running phone and is that enough?

    Thankful for any help.

    Google Play Store Prices Vary

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 10:10 AM PDT

Hey there... I started to use an old device that I had laying around, I login with a secondary account on that device but I noticed that some prices vary on the Google Play Store, some are higher priced, some are lower and I am not sure why is that.

For example, beeline icon pack on my current device is more expensive, now on sale for $0.99 but on that device is only $0.34... on some other apps on my current device is cheaper like crypto browser is $0.99 but on the other device is $1.19.

Does anyone knows what's causing this? Thanks in advance!

    Question about android audio support

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 10:05 AM PDT

    https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/media/media-formats

At this link, it says that android has built in support for " Mono/Stereo (no multichannel). Sample rates up to 48 kHz (but up to 44.1 kHz is recommended on devices with 44.1 kHz output, as the 48 to 44.1 kHz downsampler does not include a low-pass filter). 16-bit recommended; no dither applied for 24-bit. ". Does this mean that any and every android device(above android 3.1/4.1) fully supports decoding 16bit/44.1khz or 48khz audio? Do specialized devices such as the Fiio M15 fully support multichannel and higher decoding rates?

Reenabling suggestion bar in Messages app

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 09:20 AM PDT

I accidentally removed the word suggestion bar in the Messages app while trying to remove the Smart Reply bubbles. The problem is that the little gear icon that opens chat settings was ON the word suggestion bar itself, and now that it's disabled I can't figure out how to access those settings. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Google Assistant broken?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2021 10:21 PM PDT

Is Google Assistant broken for anyone else? Whenever I say "Okay Google," nothing happens, or sometimes it'll work but nothing will pop up. She'll just be talking away in the background. It's been this way for a few days now. I double checked all my settings and it should be working.

    Problem with S9+ battery

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 06:46 AM PDT

Hello everyone, i have an S9 Plus. And i had the good old humidity problem on my charging port, i had it changed at the samsung store. My warranty was gone so i had to pay a certain amount for it (which i don't consider cheap). But since i took it from the shop my battery is draining like crazy. I had it charged to 90% and got to sleep, i woke up with the battery at 12% ! I had wifi on, dark mode, always on display enabled, no background apps, bassically everything to reduce battery usage. This problem did not exist untill i had the USB-C port changed, and i'm 100% sure if i go to the store again, they'll spend 30 minutes trying to sell me an S20, and they'll overprice me for even avaluating the phone. I seek help

    Bluetooth Sync Issues

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 06:34 AM PDT

So my wife and I drive a 2016 Honda CR-V and I used a Pixel XL then 2 XL at the time; no issues with syncing the BT with the vehicle. Just this past December I upgraded to the Pixel 5 and the issue I've run into is this: the phone will sync with our car and play music but the screen that normally displays track data just gives the message no device connected. On top of that track controls on the steering wheel will not change the tracks either. My wife's iPhone works just fine when paired with the car. Sorry for the long message, I just hope someone has a solution for me that I might have missed.

    Automatically Opening Chrome

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 05:50 AM PDT

Hi, sorry, I'm new to Android, and it's outperforming my old Apple in every way except one. When I click on a link in an app like Reddit, it automatically opens it in Chrome, on a regular tab. I'm used to on my old Apple keeping my Safari browser on incognito all the time out of habit because I'm super meticulous about what things I want recorded in my search history (ie I don't want my nine billion tabs about reptile husbandry and different types of glass sealant clogging up my actual, normal person Google searches).

Is there a way to set it so that if I click on a link in an app, it opens in an incognito tab, rather than a regular tab?

I'm on an Oppo R17 Pro, if that's relevant at all.

[Android One] Google photos app not showing files in the correct folders

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 05:39 AM PDT

After looking around online, I can't find any discussion of this which makes me assume it's something I've done.

I have all my saved images/videos organised into folders, but this isn't reflected in the photos app. They're all divided into the separate folders they were originally saved to (download, reddit, screenshots, etc.)

Even when looking at the file path, it shows where the file should be. It's like the app doesn't refresh after a file is moved.

I miss the gallery app on my old phone.

"Transferring non-Google email accounts to another device." notification?

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 05:28 AM PDT

Hi. I just got my new phone (pixel 4a), because my old one didn't support any android security updates anymore. I filled in my google account at startup and set the phone up with my google account. Once I opened the gmail app for the first time on my new phone I received the following notification.

"Transferring non-Google email accounts to another device."

It was unclickable and disappeared pretty fast again. Does anyone know what this means? I only have 1 gmail account tied to google. Does it mean it's just transferring the gmail info from the google account to my new phone or should I be worried? Thanks!

This is the only useful info I can really find:https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/02/22/gmail-v8-2-prepares-add-label-trip-related-messages-automatic-transfer-non-google-accounts-apk-teardown/

Can Google assistant cancel a timer on Android 10?

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 05:25 AM PDT

I have a Galaxy Note9 running Android 10 and I can start a timer with commands like "Hey Google Set A Five Minute Timer". But there is seemingly no way to cancel a timer.

Some people say "Stop" is supposed to work, or "Hey Google Stop" or "Hey Google Stop Timer". None of these things work; Google ignores me unless I say "Hey Google" first. If I say "Hey Google Stop the Timer" or "Hey Google Cancel Timer" it just replies, "You can do that in the app."

Is there a way to cancel a timer using Google assistant?

Busybox messing with the system, removes itself after reboot

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 04:49 AM PDT

After installing BusyBox apps tend to crash and lose configuration after a while, also:

    -Cant view storage

    -System gets messed up

-Lucky Patcher shows the "SDcard not found" toast message

--When patching it displays a Warning saying "Error creating .oat file for patched classes.dex. Patch has made some errors in classes.dex or some problem in the firmware"

Later i decided to flash a busybox zip installer with TWRP and after that Stephen's BusyBox installer shows BusyBox is installed but inaccessible - "BusyBox is installed to /system/bin/sh: <stdin>[68]: :inaccessible or not found"

Tried to clear Dalvik cache, format, replaced MIUI with ArrowOS and i still have this problem

Phone - Xiaomi POCO X3 Pro (codename Vayu)

System - ArrowOS 11.0 VANILLA Official build with Android version 11
