    I have a Mi Box S that I mostly use to watch anime on, I've been doing fine with VLC but it can't seem to handle subtitles that well. I tried Kodi, and while subtitles are better, video seeking ruins the playback and it just straight out becomes buggy. My media is stored in an external USB 3.0 HDD that I simply connect to the Mi Box S.

    I know that the Mi Box S is an old device but which app would give me the best video playback that can also handle anime subtitles? (signs and songs that are well-blended to the media) Since I don't have much of a choice regarding what Android TV device I can use.

    How to Nordvpn for XGIMI Mogo Pro

    I recently got myself a XGIMI Mogo Pro and to my delight, Nordvpn was avaliable as an app.
    No more fiddling about with VPN hotspots connected to my wifi to be able to enjoy streamed content from all over the world.. or so I thought.

    After updating my Mogo Pro I could not get the app to connect to any servers. I managed to log in without a problem and I could see all the servers but when ever I tried connecting the app would just sit there for ever trying to connect.

    What you need to do to fix this is the following:

    Step 1: Update your device to the newest version.
    Step 2: Settings>All Settings>Device Preferences>Security & restrictions>Unknown sources.
    Step 3: Inside Unknown sources you will see a few options, Nordvpn being one of them.
    Step 4: Enable Unknown sources permission for Nordvpn and restart your device.

    You should now be able to connect to a server properly through the app.
    Enjoy being able to stream content freely.

    How to Netflix for XGIMI Mogo Pro

    So, I just got the XGIMI Mogo Pro and of course I wanted to get Netflix working with it but doing some googling it seems like people are having some problems getting it to work. When I say Netflix I mean the app and not KODI, though we will be using KODI to get the ESN.

    If you're struggling with, this is how I manged to get Netflix to work on my XGIMI Mogo Pro.

    Requirements: A computer, USB Stick.

    Finding your ESN (there may be easier ways but this worked for me)

    Step 1: Do all the system updates on your Mogo ProStep 2: Install KODI from Google Play.Step 3: Go here https://howtomediacenter.com/en/install-netflix-kodi-addon/Step 4: Your KODI version is 19 (Matrix), follow the guide and skip the Netflix account setup.Step 5: On the main menu of KODI, go to the settings COG at the top of the menu.Step 6: Go to Add-ons>My add-ons>Video add-ons>Netflix.Step 7: Go into the menu called Configure and scroll down to Expert.Step 8: Press right on your remote and scroll down to ESN/Widevine serttings.Step 9: Write down your ESN number at the top of the screen, do not share your ESN with anyone.Step 10: You're now done with KODI, you can close it/uninstall...

    Installing Netflix app

    To get Netflix to work on your Mogo Pro you will need to modify a Netflix install package using your ESN. Don't worry, the people at XDA have this figured out. Click here for the thread.

    IF for some reason you do not end up on the first post, navigate to the very first post and click "Spoiler: Netflix 8.1.2 build 3844 - Modification instructions". Now follow the steps described, the only file you will need to download from the XDA thread is BatchApkTool.zip.

    When you are done with this, put your freshly modified .apk file on a USB stick and insert it into your Mogo Pro. The file manager will pop up and you can select the folder or where ever you put it using the remote. After finding your install file on the USB drive, select it and install.

    You will probably need to enable "Allow Installation from Unknown Sources" if you have not already done this. After enabling this you will need to find the .apk file via the file manager again and run it again to install.

    That's it, you're all done! Just log into Netflix and enjoy.

    Dolby Atmos Music

    Anyway to listen to dolby atmos music within CCWGTV yet? Ive tried tidal and it doesnt seem to work for whatever reason. I know apple music will be supporting it soon. I just want to listen to some music in Dolby Atmos to experience it once just to hear how it is. I have my CCWGTV plugged directly into my atmos capable AVR.

    Since the last update a week or so ago on the Sony Android TVOS (and Play Store upgrade from Kodi Matrix 19.0 to 19.1) my TV can no longer continuously play most 4K content in Kodi. I get better luck with VLC but even it had freeze-up's which is one reason I am starting to think its not Kodi (I had originally assumed they did something from Matrix 19.0 to 19.1 that updated about the same time).

    It has worked flawlessly since I got it 5 months ago never freezing once and nothing else has changed in my network or with my server (even put some 4k content on another of my servers and same result). I pumped up the readfactor and cachesize in Kodi and it just delays the inevitable freeze up's, just takes longer to freeze up and longer to recover from the freeze as it refills the cache.

    Its not a bottleneck in my network or server (checked) and am aware that the Sony 950H TVs only have a 100mbps hardwired (and I am setup hardwired). I was willing to just go Kodi's fault but when I had the same problem (but not near as bad) when I tried the same content on VLC I'm starting to think its Android 9.0.

    Is anyone aware of any overhead / resource increases or known problems slowing TVOS apps down, particularly Kodi?

    4k HDR movies look washed out when I turn off HDR

    I bought a cheap 4k UHD android tv from a local company which supports HDR. But, whenever I watch any HDR movies on it, the screen becomes really dark and unwatchable on daytime. But if I watch the movie with HDR turned off, the color looks washed out and the same movies 1080p non HDR version even looks better. Is there any way to fix it? I generally use mxplayer or vlc to play videoes on my Android TV

    Suddenly lost sound on tv app

    I use "my media one" app for TV. Was working fine, changed channels and then no sound. And no sound on any channel. I checked all the basic stuff. And sound comes thru on the other apps. Any ideas?

    Prediction: Google's Android TV and Samsung's Tizen TV will merge later in 2021...

    I saw a very interesting article today about Google and Samsung merging their Android Wear OS (a smartwatch operating system) and Samsungs Tizen watch OS under the Android Wear OS umbrella. 11 things we know about the new smartwatch OS from Google and Samsung - The Verge

    As such, I think that it will also follow that Samsung will merge their Tizen TV OS into Android TV OS too later this year. I think it will be really a good thing to make TV OS generally more consistent and give them a lot more smart functionality than Samsung with their Tizen OS currently offer. Hopefully LG will follow suit with WebOS, which I find terribly limited in terms of functionality and app selection.

    What are your thoughts? :)

    Change TV channel on Android TV using Google Home

    I got an Sony Android TV yesterday and I was hoping I would be able to control it from my Google Home. Some things like changing the volume works but other basic stuff like changing channels doesn't seem to. Does anyone know if this is possible? All the guides I've found on controlling Android TV from Google are really just how to control the Chromecast bit of Android TV.

    Blocking system updates at router level

    Hi all,

    My Hisense TV forced a system update that made it impossible to uninstall the Android TV home update that enables "recommendations". I've found several posts about blocking androidtvwatsonfe-pa.googleapis.com at the router level, and was wondering if this would also prevent future system updates from being forced on the TV.
