| S8 & Above Screen Repair Question Posted: 11 May 2021 10:54 AM PDT Hey guys, I was just wondering if it's even worth the time to learn how to replace the newer cell phone's batteries and screens. I use to do it for the S4/S5's when I was younger and I recently started looking into doing the newer phones however, it appears to be a lot more complicated than before. Not only that but the parts themselves are far more expansive than before. Is it even worth the time to learn how to replace screens & batteries? | Is there any way for me to change the display size settings for Snapchat? (S20) Posted: 11 May 2021 10:22 AM PDT Ever since my S9+, I've had issues with screen size on snapchat/instagram where parts of the story/snap are cut off, but now that I've upgraded to S20, the issue has gotten substantially worse. It primarily pertains to Snapchat, where if someone sends me a snap with text that goes from end to end on the screen, my display cuts off the edges and I can't see parts of the words. It's the same with the stories, but it's also extremely inconsistent. For stories, sometimes it gets cut off, and sometimes I see the full text, but for snaps, it consistently cuts off. My friends say that whatever I send them comes through fine. I'm not sure if it's something I've enabled/disabled in my settings, I tried toggling full screen for Snapchat on/off and it made no difference. I know it's Baan an ongoing issue where Snapchat and Instagram devs didn't write the code for different screen dimensions, but is there any way for me to force Snapchat/instagram to maybe condense my screen? Add black bars to the top so the photos fit? Anyone else have this issue or is it just me? Any help would be greatly appreciated! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 11 May 2021 08:40 AM PDT I don't know if this is a problem with the app or my car but when I try to call someone using Android Auto in my car - the person on other end can't hear me, but I hear them thru my car speakers just fine. However, if I'm texting a person, the system recognizes my voice for voice text.... any ideas what may need to be done would be helpful. I have a Samsung 10e and the the app and phone are updated. | Posted: 11 May 2021 12:36 AM PDT I have had 2 incidents in which when I downloaded an app, the app was not the latest from the play store and then after uninstalling then reinstalling it loaded the correct version from the play store. Another instance I received an update for Twitter for the exact same version that was already on my Android 10 system. Can the play station apps be verified by a sha256 hash or other mechanism to confirm incorrect apps ? [link] [comments] |

Yesterday I opened a certain site and everytime I did, phone poped a Keychain window and then immediately closed. It only happens with a specific site. Is it malicious? I already checked if it downloaded anything and scanned the url but seems safe. Got a bit scared cause after searching I read that Keychain stores the passwords on my phone. My new soundbar has a software update that I downloaded on my phone. Was wondering if I could connect my phone directly to the soundbar and it would read it like a thumb drive. | Moto G7 Power not receiving texts after Android 10 update Posted: 11 May 2021 12:46 AM PDT I have a Moto G7 Power with Bluegrass Cellular that received the Android 10 update around Thursday night or early Friday morning. I promptly updated since I was excited for it. I noticed some of the new features were buggy, such as the navigation options, and changing themes. I booted into recovery mode hoping to clean the cache, but I only saw an option to factory reset, so I did that. Everything was perfect after that, but I noticed I hadn't been getting any texts lately. I didn't think much of it until my mom told me she had been trying to text me. Also, I can send texts, but not receive them. I'm always on LTE too if that makes a difference, I can only use a hotspot as WiFi at the moment. I've tried all I know to do. I've reset network options, cleared the Google Messages app storage, tried another sms app (Textra), rebooted lots of times, etc. Anyway, I called Bluegrass tech support yesterday, the guy said he saw errors on their end, but didn't give details. He "cleared them out," I'm not exactly sure what he did, but it didn't solve my problem. Another thing, I've noticed sometimes when I send a text, the LTE switches to 1x and back for a split second. I've never seen that before. I was messing around just a moment ago, (it's 2:42 A.M at the time of typing this.) When I go into the settings and change my preference to 1x, I can send a text to myself and it comes back immediately. I don't know if that's a good sign or not, because it stops again as soon as I switch back to LTE. Any ideas of what I should try next? Thanks in advance for the help. [link] [comments] |

| Problems with formatting a SD-Card as internal storage (Samsung Galaxy A5 2017, Android 8) Posted: 11 May 2021 09:32 AM PDT Hi, Since the storage of my Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) is nearly full, I´ve brought a SD-Card to use as additional storage. There are multiple guides that claim that in Android 8 it is possible to use a SD-Card as internal storage. One of the steps is navigating trough the storage system to a overview of the SD-Card with the 2 options "Format" and "Format as internal" and choosing the later option. Clicking on "Format" will result in the SD-Card being a mobile storage and not internal. However when I do follow the instructions there is no "Format as internal" option to chose. | Internet connected notification Posted: 11 May 2021 05:44 AM PDT Ever since the latest update my phone has received, it keeps repeatedly sending me a notification at the bottom of the screen saying "internet connected" when I am online and "internet not connected" when I am not. | Why is the Play Store using the wrong Google account to update a particular app? Posted: 11 May 2021 09:29 AM PDT The account I am signed into in the Play Store is the one I wish to use to download apps, yet it keeps changing to one of my other accounts to download an update for the app Boost for reddit. This is a problem because I paid to remove ads with my main account and ads return when it switches to my other account. I know it's doing this because it says I can't join the beta unless I switch to my other account. I've tried deleting the app, clearing the data for the Play Store, and redownloading the app. This worked for a while, except that the app was now back to an older version. It then updated to the latest version and changed associated accounts again. I assume repurchasing the app on my other account would fix it, but I don't really want to do that. | Instagram gallery out of order Posted: 11 May 2021 07:00 AM PDT Hello! My Instagram app was having problems displaying image thumbnails so i followed this video. It fixed the thumbnail problem, but now the photos in my Instagram's image picker is all jumbled up. The photos in the Gallery app are fine and displays the pictures in chronological order. But in other apps like Instagram, Discord, and Twitter, it displays the pictures randomly. Does anyone know how to fix it? It's been about a month since this error started and it's getting really annoying to dig up specific photos lol. I am using a Redmi 6 if that helps. Thanks! :) [link] [comments] |

Posted: 11 May 2021 06:45 AM PDT Hi all, I'm hoping someone has some ideas here, but if this is the wrong place for this question, please feel free to redirect me. I'm looking to recover some data from a recently broken phone. The glass is intact, but the rest of the screen assembly is totally shot, so no input/output at all. The phone is still on (can't turn it off without the touchscreen), receiving notifications, etc., but I'm unable to even view files on it when connected to PC, as it's set to charge only by default. I've looked into a couple of mirroring apps, but they all either require USB debugging to be enabled or need some other manual intervention on the phone. I am able to remotely install a mirroring app from my Play store account, but they still all need some kind of configuration/intervention from the phone, from what I can tell. If anyone knows of an app that works for this after just being installed without any setup, that would be great. For hardware solutions, I considered a USB-C to HDMI adapter, but I have no experience with these, so I'm not sure if these are PnP or not. I also briefly considered just replacing the screen assembly before I saw the price tag (about $130 was the cheapest I could find). I had an idea that maybe I could try to connect a cheaper screen assembly from another model (I have a couple of old Galaxy S4s on hand) to at least get video output, but I have no concept of what models would be compatible, if any.
