| Xiaomi mi 11 or Samsung Galaxy s21 Ultra Posted: 22 May 2021 05:12 PM PDT Hey all, I am replacing my old phone and finally narrowed it down to either the Xiaomi mi 11 or Samsung Galaxy s21 Ultra as the replacement, but I am stuck there as they both have pros and cons that are making it hard to choose between them. I would love advice for anyone who has used them as to which one is better. Also, if the ultimate decision is the s21 ultra is there much difference between the Exynos 2100 version (which I could get locally) and the snapdragon 888 version (which I would need to mail order). | Posted: 22 May 2021 07:02 PM PDT I just got a brand new A52 5G this week and I'm setting it, but I see something that bug me a lot. I got another phone, plus a PC. If I got a notification on Messenger, Twitter, IG, etc, and I see it on my PC, the notification on the panel on my first phone go away cause I already saw this notification. On my A52, the notifications won't go away no matter what, even if I click on them to see it, I need to go to the panel and swipe the notifications away with my finger everytime on every notifications. Is there a solution for this? Like I still want notifications to pop up on my A52 when I'm away, but it would be nice if the notifications can go away by themselves when I see them.... How do I 1) Make notifications vibrate for ~30-60 seconds not 1 second? 2) Make a calendar notification keep going off like an alarm. i.e., it doesn't shut up until I actively acknowledge it? It skips when the screen is off which is fine. But I want to be able to preview my notifications before I unlock my phone. So is there a way I can have the fingerprint not skip the lockscreen. I've found a website which has a lof of pre compiled android images. | Does anyone know if Android (Shield TV, specifically) will recognize HID devices? Posted: 22 May 2021 02:27 PM PDT I've been working on a great emulation setup using my Nvidia Shield TV. For the sake of authenticity, I've been trying to get controllers for each of the emulated consoles that were either from, or were specifically designed to very close mirror, the original console's controllers. For most of them I've gone with replicas such as 8Bit Do's N30, which is designed like the NES controller, but tweaked to include bluetooth, turbo and shoulder buttons, which are great for access the emulator's menu. Now I'm getting down to the more obscure systems, however, and I'm not finding appropriate controllers, but I have found some promising adapters. The hardest one so far, however, is the Ataria Jaguar. I happen to own a Jaguar and the OG controller for it, but I've only found one adapter, and it makes the controller show up as an HID device. That works fine with Windows; but does anyone know if Android will recognize the device? [link] [comments] |

| Old Split Screen Functionality Posted: 22 May 2021 01:47 PM PDT On a samsung s20. Before one of the more recent updates the split screen feature let you have one app open at the top and another window at the bottom where you could home button out and select a different one to use on the lower portion. I used this a ton to watch twitch on the top half and switch between Twitter and reddit on the bottom half for example. But now it makes you choose the second app from apps edge whenever opening one in split screen, and home button closes the split screen and takes you back. So if I wanted to switch apps in the lower portion I have to exit split screen and pair them up again. Does anyone know a way to restore the old behavior or to switch the lower app from split screen without needing to close out and start a new split screen session? [link] [comments] |

The stock keyboard lags terribly — also, I can barely dial out or answer calls because finger inputs are so delayed. Does this seem like a keyboard issue or something else? | Pixel 3 notifications sensitive notifications Posted: 22 May 2021 11:44 AM PDT I have a Pixel 3 and I was wondering if it's possible to have certain apps show the contents when locked on the lockscreen, but have others only when unlocked. Similar to what you can do on iOS. The only options I see (when I go to apps-{app name}-{notification category}-Lock Screen) is "show sensitive content only when unlocked" or "don't show notifications at all". Root isn't an option but I can run add commands if needed. So any way to do this, and any help is appreciated. [link] [comments] |

As per the title, I would like to ask about android's nature of backup before commiting to a large storage device.
Now, apps settings layouts will be recovered as expected. But what about the PHOTOS? Particularly, the photos metadata (Date taken, location taken, etc). Will all photos retain its original metadata or be replaced with the latest possible date? [link] [comments] |
