| Posted: 20 Apr 2021 01:03 AM PDT Is there any way I can block casting from phone to my TV, or at least set a whitelist so only my device allows it? Sometimes people on my wifi cast to my TV accidentally, turning it on from standby and playing youtube on it, and I can't seem to find a way to block this from happening. [link] [comments] | ||
| WiFi speed problems on a Philips TV (50PUS8535/12) Posted: 20 Apr 2021 04:48 AM PDT I don't live in a big apartment, but due to its construction kinks, the router sits on its one end and pretty much every network device I have on he other one. I solved this problem by buying a range extender and plugging it into the wall socket. For pretty much any network device including my laptop, this was enough to give me a high streaming speed. Not for my Philips TV I bought this month, it seems. After a 4K YouTube video got choppy and switched to a lower resolution several times, I investigated and it seems its connection speed was ridiculously slow. Like, more than 10 times slower than my computer. This seems to be the case not only for the YouTube app – a speed test shows 60 Mbps and lower, sometimes even 10. For comparison, it's 200 Mbps on my PC, that sits farther away from the extender. I'm not sure what could cause such problems. The signal strength seems OK (-48 DBm, -56 at least) and why wouldn't it, the extender is currently two meters from the TV and isn't obstructed by anything. [link] [comments] | ||
| Sony X900H Issue - HDMI ARC interfering with other HDMI devices Posted: 19 Apr 2021 11:19 PM PDT Ever since I updated the firmware on my Sony X900H, I have been experiencing momentary disconnections for HDMI devices like PS4 or a Firestick whenever a sound system connected via HDMI ARC is turned off or on. The screen goes blank for a second when the message "TV Speakers On" or "Audio System On" is displayed and ruins the whole experience, especially when gaming. This also happens when manually switching from Audio System to TV Speakers. Sony support personnel claim that this is normal (which seems to be utter nonsense), but this issue only started with v6.0414 update and is also present on v6.0466 firmware. I've tried with both Sony and third party sound systems and both have this issue. Could this be related to HDMI 2.1 features that were enabled with these updates? Have any other TV owners experienced this, and if so, are there any workarounds that can help fix this? [link] [comments] | ||

| Phillips TV remote eating batteries! Posted: 19 Apr 2021 06:44 PM PDT I have had my tv for 6 months and found last week the battery had died. No problem I'll replace it. Couple days go, dead. Okay maybe the new batteries suck egg. Next day dead again. I replaced the batteries again and left the remote untouched. After about two days the batteries have just been eaten up. | Posted: 19 Apr 2021 02:05 PM PDT Hi all I got a new Tcl C81 55" tv and am having problems with Bluetooth connections. Am trying to connect my phone to it, and while it does pair, I am unable to play anything via Bluetooth such as music etc.. When I try to connect on my Samsung S10, my phone throws up an error saying "to use bluetooth tethering, turn off the wifi your phone". I don't want to tether, which means I can't use wi-fi on my phone. Does anyone know how to just simply connect via Bluetooth so my mp3s can be played through the TV? Thanks. [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 19 Apr 2021 04:29 PM PDT I just received my new GTV and am writing an honest review based on my personal observations. So I open the package and plug it in. I like the size and shape of the box, compact and sleek look. The remote is very nice in my hand. My wife has rheumatoid arthritis so the real test is how she likes it, can she manipulate her hands to use it? The answer is a resounding yes. Best remote she has used in her opinion. Mine too, it's very responsive, has the right weight and balance in the hand. I also like that it has dedicated buttons for things like Info and Guide, unlike other devices where I have to explain to wife and kids that you need to hit back button for guide. "Really? That doesn't make sense." They'd say, and I'd have to say "Trust me". Now I say "use the guide butt"...easy peasy. It's also bluetooth so you don't have to point it at tv, or the GTV doesn't have to have a perfect line of sight. The device booted right up to its native iptv app called MOL2, short for MyTV Online I believe. Asked me to enter my portal which I did with no errors. I remembered to use UTC for my Electronic Program Guide and it loaded my playlist and guide faster than I have seen with other devices previously. Very impressed. When viewing the channels they were very clear and the zapping of channels was also strikingly faster than my other device using Tivimate. MOL2 is very easy to scroll through and is very similar to our old TiVo devices the cable company provided. Unlike Tivimate, no long pressing Left or stuff, with MOL2 left means left, up means up and down means down. Adding a USB drive and one it's just a simple press for recording. I can even set up a series recording to do same show weekly. Shows that have already started can be watched from the beginning with Cloud shift. I've found all this and I've only had my device a few days. Give me a week and I'd have sore fingers from typing all the features as I discover them. I'm sure there are people who will disagree and you're welcome to your opinions. My opinion is for my circumstances and I find the device ideal. My wife finds it ideal and that is a major item as almost every person I know who uses IPTV has one spouse who knows how to use it and the other asks them to find station X. With this device all of my family grabs the remote and scans channels as if it were a cable box. I don't use Netflix on my device so the fact it's not certified doesn't bother me. I have it available on all 3 of my televisions in the house so don't need a separate device for it. What I do need is to go purchase another two GTVs so all my TVs look and act the same For support they have Reddit, Telegram and web based support channels that I know of. I don't do Facebook or Twitter or any other unsocial media so don't know if they're there as well [link] [comments] | ||
| Chromecast with Google TV - Sideloaded apps not showing up in 'Your Apps' menu Posted: 19 Apr 2021 09:49 AM PDT As title said some of the sideloaded apps I have installed do not show up in the 'Your Apps' menu, unlike the Fire Stick. To get to these apps I have to go into the Settings > Apps > See All Apps, and open them from there. It makes no sense to me that they are installed and show up in the See All Apps within the settings but not in 'Your Apps'. Does anyone know why this might be? Does the device just not recognise them as apps? [link] [comments] | ||
| Roku has so many channels, why should you still get an Android TV? Posted: 19 Apr 2021 09:28 AM PDT You can connect a cheap Roku player to an Android TV so you have both Android TV and Roku, but is there any benefit to having Android TV built into the TV? Or is it better to have Roku built into the TV? [link] [comments] |
