Are there any apps that use Android Protected Confirmation? What phones support it?

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 06:41 AM PDT

Tried posting in r/Android but got told to post it here

I'm researching Trusted Execution Environments as part of my degree project, and created an app that implements Android Protected Confirmation. However in my dissertation I'd like to include examples of other apps using it, however it's incredibly difficult to find any released apps that actually use it. Google showcased three use cases in May 2018 with an Insulin injecting app, banking app, and a second-factor authentication app which supposedly were going to be implemented in public releases by their respective launch partners, however I can find literally nothing on these launch partners actually doing so (I'm waiting on responses to queries on this from a couple of the companies).

I also can't find any evidence of support for APC on devices outside of the Pixels from the 3rd generation onwards, there's no official list anywhere and searching hasn't obtained any results. Google said (at the time) they were working with Qualcomm to get the feature supported on phones, but outside of that I'm really not sure? I don't have the capacity to test it out on other phones myself so I was wondering if anyone here knew about that as well?

Honestly wish that there was a way to contact someone who works at Google in the Android team, but Google doesn't make any contact information for general enquiries easy to find to say the least.

Android 11 how do you stop it from auto-switching BT audio device?

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 09:44 AM PDT

I can't believe this is so hard to find online, at least for stock android 11.

It's so frustrating when I have bluetooth headset on, my phone finds my BT speaker before I even enter the house and starts blasting audio through it.

    How can I stop this?

Split packages download French bloatware split_config.fr.apk because I accidentally once chose french lang and reverted. How to force phone to forget that option?

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 01:03 PM PDT

    My phone has limited space.

How to force phone to forget once accidentally chosen language so that GooglePlay would no more download spare split parts which nobody on Earth asked it for??!

I have THREE of those: my language, English language and French language in every single split package application folder on data/app.

When buying a multi-year old Android device (phone) as a backup for an authenticator account/app, is the older software and hardware a worry from a security standpoint?

The phone would be used only as a 2FA device w/ home wifi to sync clocks.

Help synching music playlists from laptop to Android (Pixel XL)

    Posted: 05 Apr 2021 11:47 PM PDT

    Hi,

Whenever I try to synch a playlist from my laptop to my android device, the playlist comes up empty on my phone. I tried dragging the .m3u file to the playlist folder on my phone. I also tried synching with musicbee. I tried seeing if poweramp, gonemad, and vlc can read the .m3u files, but the playlist still comes up empty on those applications. Would anyone happen to have a solution? I'd really like to avoid having to manually create the same playlist a second time on my android device.

    Thank you

Bypass Google Account on Factory Reset Galaxy Tab A8?

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 11:30 AM PDT

My dad got one of these out of an abandoned storage unit and I factory reset it thinking he or I would be able to use it. Now I don't know the pin or the associated google account. I'm seeing a lot of answers online that suggest fake looking software or solutions that seem to have the potential to really screw up the device.

I have static microphone noise on my phone?

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 10:29 AM PDT

I recently bought a poco X3 NFC and I've been enjoying it a lot. Recently though i discovered that whenever i connect a headphone or an adapter to connect an external microphone, it picks up a small amount of static noise which goes away when you ground the phone like when you connect a USB cable to it and touch it. Does anyone have any suggestions or maybe have the same problem with their phone? Any help is appreciated.

    Voicemail full yet empty

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 09:41 AM PDT

I use a Xiaomi A2 with 2 simcards. One of my voicemail (visual voicemail) gives me a notification saying my voicemail is almost full and i should empty it or I will soon not get new voicemails.

Opening my phone app, it shows both "voicemail is empty" and "voicemail is almost full" message on thé screen (i've deleted all voicemails, and checked the regular voicemail, not only the visual voicemail to make sure it's empty)

Is there anything I can do?

Help! My phone keeps deleting my music!

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 09:39 AM PDT

    Hello,

My music consists of mp3 files acquired from vinyl download codes or purchased from various sources which I store on one drive and download to my phones music folder, however my phone routinely erases all but a small handful of these tracks leaving me to have to re-download them every few weeks!

This has been a problem on my old Huawei P20 and is now also happening on my new Samsung Galaxy s20 FE; all of the suggested resolutions I've seen have been around issues with SD cards which I haven't used on either device. The issue also occurs when using the blackplayer mp3 app as well as the standard music players which come on the devices, anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Aly

    Phone Signal Dropping A Lot

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 07:40 AM PDT

Is anyone else's phone dropping signal from 5G to the "No" signal a lot? It's been happening to me on my S10+ & I've tried everything besides a full phone reset. I have no idea why it is happening, I just know it started after the time change. I drop calls a lot & lose signal I have never had issues with before while sitting at my desk at work. Anyone else experiencing this & have a fix/idea?

    Earpiece as a second speaker?

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 02:56 AM PDT

Hello there guys, I just got Oppo reno 4 smartphone and it's so far great. But just one thing bothers me a bit. My previous phone had used the earpiece as secondary speaker to give out stereo audio, and i now understood the value of it now that i switched to a phone with mono speaker. People say that you won't actually hear the difference between mono and stereo on a phone since speakers are so close to each other, but when you watch videos on youtube, you often watch by holding phone very closely to your face. So actually I could hear the stereo effect. But this phone lacks the stereo support for some reason, even though it has an earpiece (like all phones) so here's my question, is there a way to enable this feature by an app or program? Can such a thing damage my earpiece? What if Oppo released a new software update that makes earpiece a secondary speaker? Can they do such a thing, is it possible?

Do Xiaomi phones support screen casting / mirroring using WiFi direct?

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 12:36 AM PDT

I don't have a wi-fi connection at home. The phones that we use (Samsung and LG) cast to tv directly using WiFi direct without needing an external wi-fi connection. Can Xiaomi phones do that?

I use a Samsung phone. When i turn on screen casting on my Samsung it connects to the tv through 'wifi direct', i.e. a wi-fi connection exclusively between the two (the tv and my smartphone). I don't require an external wi-fi connection from a router, hub or another device. I can do that from my Samsung phone if the tv and the phone is all i have. Some phones require a home wi-fi network to which both the tv and phone must be connected in order to mirror the screen. Xiaomi has the screen casting feature built into its ui. I was wondering if Xiaomi phones require a home wi-fi network to screen cast or it can cast using wi-fi direct the way Samsung and LG phones do.

Samsung Note 10 lite charging issues

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 01:26 AM PDT

The phone won't charge with the original cable so I bought a brand new one, it stops charging after a couple of minutes or won't charge at all(sometimes I need to plug and unplug multiple times in order to get it working) but to my surprise the phone charges just fine with my old, broken Huawei cable (still stops charging when plugged in but way less often than the brand new cable). Does anyone know what the problem might be? I tried charging it in safe mode but it was all the same so the software issue is out of the question. Does this mean that the phone has a faulty charging port?

    Google Search App disappeared/disabled

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 04:24 AM PDT

    I have a Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus

A few days ago my Google Search widget disappeared from my home screen, without me having disabled or uninstalled it. The widget cannot be found in the widgets chooser. The Google app has also disappeared from my app drawer and also does not appear on the list in Settings>Applications at all.

Strangely if I go on to the Playstore to try and reinstall it, the 2 buttons only say Uninstall or Enable. When I press on enable nothing happens.

This has been a huge hindrance, I did not realise just how much I need to search Google every day until now! I've been using the Google Go app as a stop gap as it has a version of the search widget but it is not as good. I've done a search online to find others with a similar problem but cannot find any.

Is anyone able to think of something that may help?
