| Voices coming out of my phone while not in use Posted: 04 Mar 2021 07:49 AM PST So, starting a few months ago, periodically, my husband and I would be woken up by the sound of voices coming out of his phone while it was charging overnight. Typically in other languages, this time it seemed to be German. I was finally able to get record it on our end. I've done what I can in terms of research online.. First thought- maybe his phone is picking up FM signals, but that does not appear to be a capability that his pixel 4 has. Second thought- maybe it was from an app or the dodgey security camera we bought off of Amazon, but we downloaded an app that tracks running apps, and nothing was running in the background (besides your usual google keyboard and other google play 'apps') So I guess the only possibility left is that the phone is haunted. Jokes aside, it wakes us up, I am 8 months pregnant and would like to avoid voices waking up our new bebe! I'd love to know if anyone has any way to solve this problem.. or has even heard of this happening? Thanks Reddit! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 04 Mar 2021 01:11 PM PST Am I the only one who's noticed a change on the "Swipe spacebar to position cursor" option on Gboard? I used to be able to place the cursor anywhere and swipe back and forth past/before that position no problem. Now half the time if I place it halfway into a sentence I can't swipe forward past that point. And sometimes I can. This is intermittent and very annoying and I'm sure it's a new behaviour/bug. | Posted: 04 Mar 2021 12:47 PM PST so I have a Redmi 8 32gb, and I tried using adoptable storage with activity launcher and it worked. but a month or two later my phone just stopped opening apps, and kept restarting every few min. nothing was opening so I don't think I could've done much so I factory reset the phone using the power and lower volume keys, later I realized my SD card wasn't working anymore because no device was even able to read it. Can I try adoptable storage again with a better SD? and any idea on how to fix my SD card? [link] [comments] |

| Can't get Bluetooth headphones working with Facebook messenger Posted: 04 Mar 2021 12:32 PM PST I bought some cheap Bluetooth "intercom" for a helmet, but it doesn't pair to my friends one, so we decided to try and talk through messenger. Unfortunately though the option for Bluetooth shows up, but after selecting it it almost immediately goes back to the phone speakers :/ I've tried unpairing and pairing the device and resetting network settings, but I really don't know what the issue is. The headphones work fine on other apps (except for all that use calls, like discord and such), but the microphone part doesn't seem to work either. Is it the headphones or some messenger thing? | app turning itself on automatically Posted: 04 Mar 2021 12:06 PM PST Hello guys, I have an issue with one app - yanosik (polish alternative to Waze - you got reports of police controls, car accidents etc). My phone (Samsung M21) has recently updated to One UI3 (android 11). And since that time I've noticed that issue. Only with that one app. First I've noticed 3 days ago while driving a car that it did not report stationary speed cameras so it got my attention. It turned out that it shuts itself down after being in background for a while (I've swapped window to google maps since I prefer google maps navigation better - yanosik is there only to check for road reports). I've started it again and swapped window and after a few moments app notification (that it is running) was not there and app was not available in recent apps window (like I would throw it out of it). Went to developer settings to check if there is some kind of limit in background apps but it looked like everything was ok. Then I went to battery settigs and noticed that it is in 'sleep' mode (or whatever it is called). I did not put it there so I've changed it to never put it to sleep. It worked app was available and was not shut down for the rest of my commute. Later that day I've noticed that my battery started to run out fast. Tried to dig for it and battery usage screen showed that most of my battery was taken by yanosik app which - as it turned out - was still active (even that I've shut it down). Checked again few moments later and it didn't launched itself. Yesterday morning as I was scrolling through notifications I've realised that it is again active. And battery page stated quite significant drop in charge level (you know gps, wakelock etc). I went through some forums but only thing that I've found was dated back to android ICS that apps that uses gps might also launch that problematic app. That could be a case since it doesn't turn on itself automatically shortly after closing down - it does so after some time randomly. I have tried to look for some kind of setting so it would not start itself again but still not close down after being in background for a while but didn't found anything good. The Problem is that the speakers and microphone are not working. I can call but i get no sound and the recipient cant hear me. I also have no sound when playing music or videos on youtube. | Solution to malware with access to contacts Posted: 04 Mar 2021 11:37 AM PST Hi everyone, I have a problem maybe you guys can help me: I've received an sms which was obviously a bait to click on a malicious link but the important thing is that the name they used to address me was "My name brotheeer" , which is exactly how my brothers has my number in his contacts, which means that my brother has some sort of virus on his phone with access to his contacts. Do you guys know any way of solving this other than factory resetting the phone? I've tried analyzing with malwarebytes and avast and they only thing it has found is an adware. As a side note, do you know any anti virus that can help avoiding this kind of problem in the future? I'd like to install it on his phone aswell as on my mom's and dad's phone. Thanks! | Posted: 04 Mar 2021 11:24 AM PST I've got some updates available which download then stop. Phone is a Realme x50 pro on A10. Internet is working fine getting 200mbps+. Tried on mobile data, same issue. Same thing happens on my android TV and tablet (different accounts). Tried updating Disney+ on my TV and it was just stuck on pending. I can download other apps and some others have updated fine but the below get stuck and I've tried everything: Chrome FB messenger Shazam Disney+ Twitter YouTube Anyone got any ideas? | Posted: 04 Mar 2021 11:18 AM PST I have a recent android device, and I noticed Android is continually auto disabling apps without my knowledge. It does this with apps that have not been used in a while. There doesn't seem to be an option to disable this feature. | Posted: 04 Mar 2021 10:21 AM PST In the discontinued language specific predecessors of it, the symbols section is vast and intuitive, with 4 pages categorized in a intuitive way containg greek symbols (like α) and special number symbols (①). I loved it. Gboard doesnt seem to have any of these and some of the more common symbols are hidden in other symbols. Is there a way to revert these changes? With some people, it's completely fine and I don't have issue with any sort of communication (Calling or Texting). With other specific contacts though, I can receive phone calls and call them with no issues but the texting doesn't work unless I turn on my Wi-Fi. What does my Wi-Fi have to do with texting these people. Is there a way for me to be able to text back and forth with them without turning on my Wi-Fi? Thanks for any help you can offer! | Home wifi breaks apps on brand new Pixel 4a Posted: 04 Mar 2021 09:33 AM PST I have just bought a new Pixel 4a and the first few days of use are making me question whether my item is faulty. If anyone could offer some reassurance or advice that would be great. Problem: Some apps simply don't work as required when connected to my home wifi. Many apps take ages to open and some won't fully load. In fact opening an app (Tinder) even caused the control panel on my brand new 1 day old Pixel to stop responding for minutes.
Important context:

Posted: 04 Mar 2021 09:22 AM PST I don't use smilies much, but a few weeks or months ago I did follow some link that took me through the rigmarole of designing my own that looked vaguely like me (by choosing hair shape, glasses, beard etc. etc.) I used them a couple of times but then kind of forgot about them. Now I would like to use them again, but although I can see how to access them in Facebook, I can't seem to find them in Messenger where I'd like to use them more (and in Whatsapp too if possible) Any clues for a man with no brain? | Headphones play/pause function trying to open Bixby Posted: 04 Mar 2021 09:10 AM PST I'm not sure if this is a device setting or app specific? I use Spotify for music streaming. I used to be able to play/pause/skip songs on Spotify or even youtube using the play button on my headphones. However, very recently just clicking the play button on my headphones tries to open bixby or Google. I've checked all my setting on device and app and I can't figure out why this has started happening recently. I'm trying to avoid having to uninstall and reinstall any apps and hoping it's a simple fix I'm missing. Any ideas?
