The frustrating thing is, the solution eventually comes, but never the same way, that's why I call it masturbating, instead of troubleshooting. I have to do this 10 times a day. | Posted: 04 Feb 2021 12:35 PM PST I mean for a normal android handset that's on & active (cellularly, not actively in-call :P ) I hate that, to get to make a call, I have to turn-on the screen and swipe-away a screen before I can enter my password (well, a swipe-sequence 'password') I've gone through every setting trying to find some OEM Setting that'd make it so there's just ONE screen "in between" pressing Power and seeing my homescreen (that 1 screen being the password or swipe-password screen) and there are none, they only offer control over HOW that first screen(notifications-screen) is displayed IE you can have it show data or not but you still have to endure that screen before you can "get into" your phone's password&homescreen! Thanks a ton, am guessing there's a good 50/50 there's some app or trick for this, at same time I understand if it's "core OS stuff" that is either unchangeable or impractical to change! But, barring that, I realllly wanna get that first screen off my phone I never ever look at my notifications there and have to swipe-away that screen dozens of times daily for no reason besides my Settings not having a way to turn-off the "pre-password notifications page" >:( Thanks a ton for any&all insight on this one!! :D [link] [comments] |

| Default files app keeps crashing Posted: 04 Feb 2021 06:13 AM PST So I've got a galaxy s6 lite, I believe the android version is nougat. I noticed it was crashing while trying to export a flat image from clip studio paint into my normal image gallery a few days ago, it was fine before this. The rest of the process on cps side was absolutely fine and it will crash when asking me to confirm on the files app. At the very last stage of the process, at that. Google drive was the same, as was attempting to circumvent them by uploading to any social media as the files app would just crash again. I've deleted the data and cache and I'm honestly at a loss of what to do because nothing was fixed. I've sent a crash report to Google as well, luckily I could upload things to Google drive via files by Google but that's not ideal when I had to basically.... Screenshot an image instead of directly saving it. Does anyone have any advice or experience of this? Sorry if this is the wrong place for this. [link] [comments] |

My Verizon Galaxy S10 doesn't show the top notification bar on the home screen anymore. In apps, it shows. For example, right now in RIF app I can see the time, my icons, battery. Not when I close the app and I'm sitting on the home screen. Is this a bug? I read something on a Google Pixel thread on reddit that it's a feature of Android 11, but I want to confirm that. | Viaplay mobile app problem - Cannot open app? Posted: 04 Feb 2021 11:33 AM PST Viasat TV app. This app. is installed on my note10+ but I am not having the "open" option in Playstore - I cannot open the app? I tried to uninstall it, removed it from the library and tried reinstalling it from Playstore. What happened was that the removed app. was installed within a split second with no indication of a installation going on. And the result, nothing just returned to my initial problem not being able to open the app. I then uninstalled the app again, restarted and downloaded Viasat.apk from 5 different apk providers and tried installing that way around. No luck either. I just got a message saying "app was not installed". Now I have given up. One app. not working and it looks like I need to factory reset. Posted: 04 Feb 2021 11:24 AM PST I did some googling and I can't seem to find any good answers on how to accomplish this simple thing on Android 10. The device is easy enough to provision that it wouldn't matter if it wiped itself by accident in my pocket. I get that recent revs of Android are encrypted by default, so as I understand it ideally someone would enter the password wrong 3 times and the device would simply factory reset. | Can I download videos from Netflix on Mediapad T5 16GB wi-fi model? Posted: 04 Feb 2021 10:17 AM PST After I bought Mediapad T5 16GB wi-fi model I realized I can't store apps on SD card. Now I'm worried that I just wasted my money. I haven't unboxed the tablet so I still can return it if I have to. I wanted to use the tablet for watching movies and shows on Netflix, PrimeVideo and Disney+. And maybe one more little app for reading manga. That's all I want to do on my tablet. Is 16GB model enough for this use? Or will I need a RAM3GB/ROM32GB model for this use? I'm going to have to stay at the hospital for 4 days every 2 weeks, there's no wi-fi at my hospital bed so I was planning to download videos at my home and watch them at the hospital. I do have 128GB SD card to use for this tablet. Will my 16GB T5 going to have enough storage for all three apps? How many GB of 16GB can I actually use? I read it's around 7GB but is it true? Will I be able to download videos from Netflix and PrimeVideo on my SD card? I know Disney+ says it only allows downloading videos to internal storage but is 7GB too small for that? Since the update, i've had a permanent "moisture detected" issue that never goes away, and i noticed that when i force close "android system", it actually does nothing. I'm not sure if this is because i enabled work profile or if it's the android update, but it has the 'dual app' orange icon on the bottom right of the app icon, whereas my work apps have the briefcase icon. Is this normal? Also, is it possible that this is what's causing my moisture detected issue? [link] [comments] |
| I cannot use this gamepad on my phone Posted: 04 Feb 2021 10:04 AM PST Hello everyone, I recently bought the Saitake 7008F controller, it comes with 3 options, Android, iOS and Gamepad. The Android mode is to map the buttons on the screen with the controller's physical button, although this is useful, it is not what I'm looking for. The gamepad mode is what I want to use in order to run emulators on my phone. I own an Oppo Find X2 Neo (Global version of Reno 3 Pro 5G) and whenever I connect it using the gamepad mod, the controller just doesn't work! it is connected and it detects it as "input device" but nothing works. I have tried it on an LG V20 running Android 8, a Huawei P9 running Android 7 and my PC, it worked fine on all of them except on my phone. | Samsung S21 poor battery life/overheating Posted: 04 Feb 2021 01:34 AM PST Hope this is the right place to ask since I'm very new to this all but: I've recently jumped ship from Apple and got myself the Samsung S21 (not the ultra or plus). I've noticed that the battery, especially for a new phone, is quite poor. I've been scrolling social medias (FB, IG, reddit etc.) intermittently for about 3 hours and it's already at 56%. The area I'm in currently doesn't have 5G either. I've also noticed that the phone gets quite warm (not uncomfortably, but definitely noticeable) after using the camera to take a couple of photos. Like I said I'm a new convert so are there certain settings I should/shouldn't be using? I feel like it shouldn't be this poor regardless - just wanting to see if anyone else has similar experiences! I recently upgraded from los 15 to los 16 and found a problem: wifi and mobile network always show that there's no internet, when in reality there's. Their signs have a small cross, also wifi periodically disconnects from every network, which is really annoying and irritating. Can someone help me find out the source of the problem? I attached the logs, if there's a brave person ready to waste their time. I tried: installed another version, another firmware, changed dns, changed captive portal. | Pixel 3 on T-Mobile VoLTE issue Posted: 04 Feb 2021 07:27 AM PST Rather strange problem: My phone lost VoLTE a few months ago, and always drops to HSPA for phone calls. However, both after getting the January and February security update, I got VoLTE back for 1 day, before losing it again. It seems as if the Pixel line no longer has a VoLTE toggle, and is just supposed to use it if available. Anyone have an idea of what could be happening or a fix to try? [link] [comments] |

In any group text message I am in, if too many texts come in too frequently I get locked out of the group for 10-45 minutes. All my messages get stuck at "Sending" and I can't receive any either. I can text the people in said group individually, but not the group. It happens with just iphones, just other androids, and a mix. It happens in any texting app. It happens if even if I toggle wifi/data. It happens in new groups and in old. It happens when I'm connected to google messages for web and when I'm not. It happens after I've cleared cache, reinstalled the texting app, etc. IM GOING CRAZY WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?? This has been happening for months, years even. [link] [comments] |
