| How do i root my Android device ? Posted: 21 Feb 2021 05:46 AM PST As a teenager, i am stuck with an old Samsung Galaxy J5 from 2016 or something. It runs Android Lollipop, which is trash. I came around it by downloading a launcher and a nice app icon pack, but i stil feel the need to have a fresh version of Android, and i was wondering if i could download Android Go after rooting my phone. The problem is that i'm not sure of the way to do that, and i'm quite afraid of wrecking my phone, because i have no alternative. | How can I view notifications on the screen unlock key entry on Android 10? Posted: 21 Feb 2021 06:40 AM PST When I wake up my phone I am shown a page with notifications, then I have to swipe up to access another page where I can draw my pattern to unlock the phone. Since I found the swipe up action unnecessary I enabled the "Direct unlock" option, which skips the swipe up to unlock and shows the pattern page directly. The problem is that on this page the notifications are not shown. So if I want to quickly check if I have messages or lost calls, I have to either wake up the phone and then press the back key to view the notification page, or I have to wake up the phone and unlock it. What I would like is to simply be able to wake up the phone and have the possibility of unlocking it or viewing notifications, from the same page. The pattern entry takes up about 1/3 of the screen, so there is plenty of space to display notifications. Can this be done on Android 10? Or do you know of any 3rd party apps, magisk modules or ROMs that can do this? Thank you in advance [link] [comments] |

Recently, they told us that Android 11 hard reset will only work if you plug your phone into a PC. People that doesn't have a PC won't be able to do it. There's no mention of this in any website. | Apps report my device as being rooted Posted: 21 Feb 2021 12:01 PM PST Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy S20+, and I definitely did not root my device. However, since about last month, my banking app started saying that my device is rooted, and wouldn't open. Today, I noticed Microsoft Teams complains about the same thing. I do wonder what are they checking. I suppose checking for Developer options is stupid. As far as I know I don't have any viruses, don't do any link checking on my phone, if I'm suspicious about a link, I check in a VM, and I always check comments and ratings for apps that I install. That being said, I'm still wondering.. should I restore to factory settings? Is there any antivirus anyone would recommend? I'm hoping I'm not the first one encountering this issue, so hopefully someone has found an answer. Thanks for any suggestions [link] [comments] |

I throw my phone in my bag and use wireless headphones to listen to music and the prompts from the app to start/stop running. I just got a Galaxy S21 and this app seems to keep going to sleep. I'll notice that I should be hearing the prompt to run by now, but it doesn't ring. So I go in my bag, press power button to light up screen, and bang, all of a sudden the app is back to running. I already added the app in settings to Never Sleep. What else can be going on? [link] [comments] |

| Galaxy S21 Ultra and Custom Launcher Issue Posted: 21 Feb 2021 10:46 AM PST I currently have the S21 Ultra with Android 11 and OneUI 3.1. I am using a custom launcher (Lean Launcher) and everytime I restart my phone it will not apply the launcher I had. It will reset back to OneUI Home. Any way to fix this? I have managed to transfer all his files to his PC, but I can't seem to recover his contact list. I've downloaded several phone recovery programs on my laptop, but they all ask me to turn on USB debugging on the phone, which I can't do, because the screen doesn't work anymore. Turns out, it is a phone that was meant for the Chinese market. The Samsung keyboard is the only "issue" for me. Is there any way to change it from its format intended for the Asian market (see image below)? Or is this a case of "you had to get the special phone, so you'll have to deal with it and/or get a third party keyboard"? Posted: 20 Feb 2021 06:15 PM PST I downloaded a screen time usage tracker for a bet but the app didn't show more than a day screen usage, then I found the wellbeing thing on configuration but it's wrong (it says I've used my phone for 15 min today when I used it for at least 2hrs ) When I turn off the phone it erases that data it seems Is there a setting to save that data?
