Chromecast with Google TV support Posted: 28 Dec 2020 03:20 AM PST Tone major reason the Chromecasts are awesome is because regardless of version, they all continue to be updated. With the newest now being based on Android, is anyone else concerned how long it will be before Google will stop providing updates/support? For Pixel devices, the timeframe is 3 years of updates. Is this reasonable for a Chromecast? [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Dec 2020 12:39 AM PST Hi all, I have an Ematic Jetstream that I'm trying to set up and ftp server on, but almost all the ftp apps on the playstore are apparently incompatible. Is this an artificial limitation of Android tv? I just want an ftp server that will autostart and run in the background. [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Dec 2020 06:02 AM PST Hello all. My AndroidTV box(Humax Aura) has every streaming app we need, apart from the most damned important one-Netflix! I'm new to sideloading but can't get a good answer on google, some say there's a 420p version some say there's 1080p, some need mouse, some can use a controller. I'm honestly lost. For those side loading Netflix, which one do you use and have you tried "netflix 8.1 3808"? Hopefully someone can help, Thanks! [link] [comments]

Apps crashing when bluetooth headphones are paired Posted: 27 Dec 2020 09:03 PM PST Netflix, YouTube, casting video - each of them play for a split second and then the video freezes. Sometimes the audio plays and keeps going, sometimes nothing. The little clicks when changing selected tiles on the Google tv interface do seem to work though. I've tried resetting the tv, Chromecast, forgetting the headphones and re-pairing, always the same result. Is it really just this buggy? Or is there some way to fix this? Tv is tcl 6-series Headphones are MPOW [link] [comments]
Turn off the "Hey Google" function on Hisense TV Posted: 27 Dec 2020 11:52 AM PST Is there a way to turn off the Hey Google recognition so Google search only works when I push the Google button? It keeps triggering while I'm watching movies and interrupts my viewing experience. [link] [comments]
Google TV remote IR volume rarely works Posted: 27 Dec 2020 06:17 PM PST I have the Chromecast with Google TV and the IR volume control of my Sony 1080 receiver is flaky, to say the least. It rarely works, and when it does, usually just alters the violent by 1 increment. Doesn't matter if you press and hold or press repeatedly, nor does it matter how you aim the IR hole or distance from receiver. Google support had me reset the entire CwGTV unit, and that worked for a few days, but then back to flaky. I've retrained the remote many times, but that didn't help. The receiver remote changes volume fine, as does my samsung tv remote. Any ideas? [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Dec 2020 08:02 PM PST So maybe someone can help me out here and give me an idea if this is a TV issue or an app issue. Amazon Prime and HBOMax both can't send DDP signals through ARC to my Vizio soundbar from Ccwgtv. But, the apps in my AndroidTV (Hisense H9F), can send the DDP signal through ARC to my Vizio Soundbar. Is there something about being a built in app vs going through an HDMI that's different? Is it possible that that specific HDMI slot is dodgy? (Note Hulu can send a DDP signal from the Ccwgtv. Note the signal Hulu sends from Ccwgtv is DDP 5.0 which is also odd. Whereas the Built in app says 5.1 but doesn't seem to actually be surround sound). Or is this just some weird anomaly I can't fix until I get a new tv later in 2021 when all the eARC, HDMI 2.1, and VRR kinks are fixed? [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Dec 2020 07:01 PM PST I have a TCL Series 4. When my TV detects there's no activity going on, say if I close my PS5/Switch, and it's just sitting on an inactive input, it ends up closing the TV after 5-10 minutes. It warns me about a minute ahead of time that it's getting ready to close with a countdown. I went into System settings and Sleep Mode is off. How do I stop it from doing this? Sometimes I just need to turn my game off for fifteen-thirty minutes and come back, and I'd just prefer if the TV stayed on while I do. [link] [comments]
Can you install normal android apps on devices with android tv? Posted: 27 Dec 2020 08:13 PM PST Like let's say I wanted to sideload an app from fdroid. Would that work? [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Dec 2020 12:17 PM PST Greetings, Is there a good way to track the data consumption and/or control the data usage for android TV? I recently switched to android based Sony 85X90CH and my data consumption seems to be almost doubling... my previous TV was also 4K, but 65 inch TCL/Roku.. everything i read seems to indicate that size shouldnt matter (for data consumption), only resolution. I tried Google's Android TV Data Saver app, it installs - but it doesnt show up in settings...., Found this great app, Time NetSpeed Monitor: Internet Speed Meter for TV, which works well - except that it only shows transient up/down bandwidth usage, not aggregate data consumption... but it is a bit disturbing to see the frequent usage of bandwidth, even when there is no streaming ( watching other local/cable content) or when idling in home screen... there seems to plenty of vanilla android apps for data usage tracking - if you had success sideloading any of them to an android TV, kindly share.... Posted: 27 Dec 2020 01:47 PM PST Hello! I have the Metz TV MTB7000 it's an Android smart TV and lately I've been watching a lot of shows at night and I noticed that the brightness is a bit to bright and burning my eyes. I pressed the menu and did not find the option to reduce brightness all i saw was other themes. I would like to know if any way exists to reduce the screen brightness. I looked for software methods the OS has nothing built in. [link] [comments] |
