I'm unsure whether to buy a S5, an iphone equivalent (5s I think?), just get something a bit more expensive or try installing LineageOS and see if that speeds things up. I got such an old phone because I don't really see the point in getting a more middling phone like the iphone 8 etc because imo there's no point going for better cameras unless they're the v best (dont have money for the latest phones atm) and apart from that I just care about having a phone that can run spotify, facebook messenger and WhatsApp fast, run games like Among Us slow but okay and run navigation apps like Citymapper fast on the move off of 4g and gps. I thought it would be possible to get something cheap/under £100/$120 for this because I remember my iPhone 4 being able to do all this kind of stuff in the mid 2010s - but maybe apps, os etc has just moved on too much? Or i just got sold a dud - they said the condition was grade B on ebay, which i thought was fine as I've bought other grade b stuff similarly categorised on ebay and its been fine. Hoping you guys and help work it out! Here are the issues with the phone: -spotify, facebook messenger and WhatsApp are always slow when i open them - take a few seconds to respond to first few touches. All of them freeze every three of four uses - freezing to the point i have to close and reopen every 10 or so - especially spotify. The gmail app is the same as this but even slower. -apps like Among Us and World of Warcraft phone client install but just don't function/close when opened. -whenever there is even 10 seconds of exposure to rain, the phone often completely freezes and works at about 10% speed for about half an hour after exposure and just won't work properly if continuously exposed. Talking medium level rain, not even too heavy. -Navigating the phone is generally slow, it slightly freezes every 5 minutes or so of use. I have tried deleting apps so there is a lot of free storage space, this maybe helps a lot, but 20% more at most I'd say. My SIM card is from 3 in the UK where i live, if that might be making a difference? I had an iphone 6 before this that was working fine in all these areas, with some occassional problems but not to this level, i thought S5 was only a small step down from iphone 6 so confused about all this? I did move on from the 6 because it developed the iphone issue of poor behaving hardware and battery, so is the trade off with samsung/android that the software is way slower? I've just found out about LineageOS and was thinking of installing that as a last gasp try before getting something else in the post-christmas sales, but if the issues are so pronounced I'm not sure if its worth the few hours or so? When I download a file from a browser, an app or a mail and I click on the notification (of ended dowload) it doesn't open the menu for selecting the app i want to open with but ,instead, it open a "Share with" menu and I can't open the file. (sometimes with the Mail icon, sometimes with an other one, but the problem remains) I had to go in the file manager to open the file but sometimes it works, sometimes it tell me that the file is impossibile to open. Also, together wit this problem, I can't attach or upload a file in an app, mail or browser: it let me chose the file but the upload never starts, never. It worked only if I use the "Send" button and chose the app (not everytime). I tried everything: update every app, reset the settings, ecc but nothing worked. is it a bug? After two days i discovered that my phone recieves audio from a hole on the top of my phone and not from the bottom where the microphone is located at. I restarted the phone couple of times didn't help and yeah i did all the basic stuff ( also cleaned the inside of the microphone with a tip ) but nothing helped , how can i set back the default microphone of my phone? But one thing I have an issue with that I cannot seem to isolate is: When I root my S10 5G: (Process as follows: Flash TWRP/VBMeta, Install Magisk with TWRP, everything is good) I then install Riru v21.3 (updating does not fix this) The actual problem, when I reboot, I see the "Android is starting" prompt, as if my data has been wiped. However, when I open the device and check, all my apps are still there, as well as their data. The problem is the app ID changes. If I "ls -l" into an app's /data/data directory, the owner and group id's are for example u0_a24 for "Chrome". But when I run "ps -A | grep chrom" the app is running with owner/id u0_a84. Basically, the app does not have access to it's own data directory. I have no idea how/what is changing this but I really need to fix it. So any help is seriously appreciated. [link] [comments] |

I'm in a group text chat, and I noticed that some of the messages didn't seem to have any context to them on my Note20. I downloaded the Message+ app on my S7+ tab, and weirdly enough, the missing context was there. I had been using the default Samsung text app on my phone, so I switched to Message+ to see if that would fix it, but the missing messages still weren't there. I wanted to download my most used pack from Telegram and be able to use the stickers directly on my phone in text messages vs save each one as a picture and use them that way. It only appeared once thus far, for a minute after I installed an app from the play store. Don't think that's relevant, cause the popup remained after I immediately uninstalled the app. I image searched it and all the results I found appear to be developmental issues for emulators or virtual devices, which got my a bit worried, as I've had some issues in the past with thinking that my phone has spyware on it. This is happening with many words and seems like it has gotten much worse recently but this is my first android. A Pixel 4 I got February 2020. It frustrates when my 128GB storage gets filled merely by WhatsApp Documents and Media and I don't want to delete them since I might be in need of some in the future. I am trying to Mount my Whatsapp folder on the Internal Storage to a Cloud since, by doing so I would still be able to search/access the media files/document from within the WhatsApp app when I need them. I am aware of the app called "Folder Mount" which allows us to mount a folder to External SD. But I am looking for a solution to mount to a Cloud since my phone does not have an external SD slot. Posted: 27 Dec 2020 02:10 AM PST I recently upgraded from Lollipop to Pie, and the new screenshot system, where you have to hold down the power button to bring up a menu has been really irritating me. Is there a way to go back to the shortcut where holding down the power button and then pressing a volume button would immediately take a screenshot? The new menu-based system is inferior in many ways, some of which make some screenshots impossible to take.
