YouTube for Android TV v2.12.08 brings limited 8K streaming support Posted: 26 Nov 2020 04:52 AM PST "While there are a number of 8K TVs with Android TV support, standard Android TV boxes were capped at 4K when streaming YouTube content — even if higher resolution videos are available on the platform. 8K video streaming support is now rolling out in a limited fashion for Android TV with YouTube for Android TV version 2.12.08 according to guys over at Android Police. As we have said, this is a very limited rollout as you'll need to be running Android 10 and above to even see the option." " If you don't have an 8K TV you can still benefit from downscaling, when watching such high-resolution content on lower-resolution displays. That said, streaming a ton of 8K YouTube videos to your Android TV set-top boxes could really hammer your data cap — provided you have a cap. Let's hope that H.266 video encoding comes soon, as the enhanced bitrate-to-quality benefits would really help when consuming such high-resolution content online. Questions on Google TV vs Mibox vs Nvidia Shield Posted: 25 Nov 2020 08:54 PM PST I've been having consistent problems with my Mibox, and I was planning to upgrade to the nVidida Shield TV, but it is expensive. Just saw Google releases the new chrome cast with a remote and the new Google TV. Before I go and buy this, is it a good upgrade to the mibox? Only thing it lacks is the ethernet port, but I can probably live without it. I have WiFi issues depute high speeds in my phone, I think it'd just the mibox. Any downsides to Google TV [link] [comments]

Posted: 25 Nov 2020 04:25 PM PST It's black friday and Jbl Link Bar is now on sale for only 150€ I was wondering if it's worth bying despite all the negative reviews? I had a change to listen Jbl Bar 2.0 in store which is also 100€ on sale and I think it sounded excellent for my needs and budget, so I'm curious weather Jbl Link Bar sounds as good (without the added dolby digital feature that Bar 2.0 has) or even better considering it's normal price range at +300€ My living room is quite small also I live in apartment block so the soundbar doesn't have to be overly loud. I would be using the Android tv and Chromecast features daily as they would be replacing my current chromecast. [link] [comments]
Google tv switching input from Google home not working Posted: 25 Nov 2020 03:02 PM PST I used to have a Chromecast ultra plugged into my TV and I could say play music on my dining room TV and it would turn on the TV and switch inputs automatically. I recently replaced it with a Google TV with Chromecast. Now when I request music via Google home, it turns on the TV but doesn't switch the input which is quite frustrating. Any ideas why this is happening and what I can do to fix? [link] [comments]
the new Google Tv remote Compatibility Posted: 25 Nov 2020 01:27 PM PST Hello AndroidTv fans wanted to put it out there .. did anyone try the new Chromecast with google tv's Remote with any android tv which has a built-in Chromecast? like Bravias... we know it's pointless. but wanted to ask as it will be cool to 'point' something at a tv which is already an Android TV or say Google TV.. so confusing! Just break Bluetooth - any way to fix without complete reset? Posted: 25 Nov 2020 02:42 PM PST Hey, I count find in TV setting (Philips the one 2020) to pair with BT device, so I downloaded app: bluetooth pair 2.8 apk Worked fine, but I had to disable something because I do not find my TV when I enable BT in my phone, also option i system TV settings is greyed out. Triet to reboot, clear cache of system bluetooth app, did not help. I see only option for full factory reset. Is another way to fix this issue without full reset? [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Nov 2020 08:14 AM PST My grandparents bought Sharp androidTV 40BL2EA and the text is too small to read I looked through all the menus and settings, even updated the OS Only thing I found was the vision option in accessibility- which is grayed out Is there any other way to increase font size? Or how to use the grayed out accessibility option? (I am talking about font size in general, not subtitles- those were easy to change) [link] [comments]
Streaming 4K Netflix on Sony Bravia TV (Android TV) - sound is choppy Posted: 25 Nov 2020 11:20 AM PST Hey all! I have a 150Mbps internet connection, and am streaming Netflix with the app on my Sony Bravia TV. I noticed the download speed of a 4K show (e.g. When They See Us), is capped at 15.25Mbps. As a result, the sound is very choppy, to the point where it's unwatchable. I tested my connection within the Netflix app, and it said 130Mbps. Streaming 1080p shows have no problem. Has anyone experienced this? Is this my connection, or the app on the TV itself? Thanks! [link] [comments]

Apps that have widgets for Wolf Launcher Posted: 25 Nov 2020 11:31 AM PST I recently followed this video to get Wolf Launcher running on my CCGTV's and am wondering if anybody has found any apps that contain widgets that can used with this launcher? [link] [comments]
Freeview Play apps don't work on Phillips TV Posted: 25 Nov 2020 02:38 PM PST Hi everyone, I recently bought a new Phillips 43PUS8505 TV. Everything on it seems to work perfectly EXCEPT Freeview Play, and all the apps linked to that, Iplayer, ITV, 4OD etc. I don't get an error message when I open them up, just a slight buffer and then black screen. Nothing after that. All the other apps work perfectly so it must have something to do with Freeview Play. I do have an aerial connected, but I get fairly weak signal in my area, so not all channels are found. But I have 49 or so channels. I'd heard that having a functional aerial can be the cause of this issue, but I'm not even getting an error code that I could check, just the black screen. Anyone else experienced this or managed to fix it? TV is on version: TMP191E_R.101.001.123.008 I believe this is the most recent version of the software. Thanks for any help you can give! How do I update the codec on MX Player Pro on an Android TV? Posted: 25 Nov 2020 12:46 PM PST I've tried every updated codec I can find and none are recognized by my TV. It continues to use an ARMv7 NEON codec (v1.25, newest version is 1.32, I believe), despite my TV using an ARMv8 chip, and even after trying all the newest NEON codecs as well as an AIO download, it still won't update. I'm getting horrible choppy audio on any file using EAC3. Does anyone know how to fix this, short of down-converting the EAC3 to something more basic? The app is able to see the .zip files with the codec packages, but it won't load any of them. I've emailed MX Player support but haven't heard back. TV is a Sony 930E running Android 8.0. Customizing Chomecast w/ Google TV Posted: 25 Nov 2020 01:24 PM PST I recently switched my entire household over to YouTube TV. My Grandmother is 95 y/o and has trouble using technology. I'd like to simplify the entire process for watching YouTube TV so she can enjoy watching her shows without getting confused. I'd like live channels to instantly begin playing upon powering on the TV. Also, I want to reconfigure two buttons on the controller for navigating up/down through channels. Does anyone have suggestions for how I might be able to do this? [link] [comments] |
