    Samsung Battery Problem Solved!

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 03:08 AM PST

Hey guys, u/Astro_PS here! I am here to solve two of your worries pertaining to Samsung phones, especially models after 2017/18.

    1. The battery charge suddenly went up- This is more common than you think! Many of us do not even notice this! This usually happens when your phone is rested for a while and then suddenly you start using it, or maybe the battery read it's reading wrong, just like sometimes car's dashboard fuel amount readings can be wrong, not to worry! If you still wanna be sure, recalibrate your phone by letting the battery drain, let it turn off, switch it on again and let it turn off. After that, charge your phone to full and then turn it on and then restart it. This would fix 99% of problems.
    2. Yellow triangle- This is nothing new but also, nothing much to worry about. This triangle usually comes up if you're phone is off and you're charging it. It usually means you're cable has moisture or the phone did not recognize the cable. Just de-moisturize the cable plug and you shall be good to go. If it still continues, I'd suggest getting a new cable or going to Samsung Repair, although I hope this won't be needed.

This may not apply to older models. Feel free to DM me if you have any more questions to ask.

    Regards,

    u/Astro_PS

Can using compressed air on the phone's camera lens damage it??

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 11:38 AM PST

I used a can of compressed air to blow some specs of dust around the rim of the camera lens of my Xiaomi mi10t pro. It was only after the fact that I searched this online and I've read that using compressed air can actually damage the lens. I'm really scared that I may have damage my phone's camera, I only used the compressed air for a few short bursts, but am I screwed??

I should mention that I put a small tempered glass protector over the camera lens before I used the can of compressed air. Ot only has a cutout for the flashlight.

Can I Revert Back to Original OS After Installing a Custom ROM?

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 11:19 AM PST

I want to try Custom roms(/e/ and calyx os) but I am not sure if I will like them. I use a samsung galaxy note 10 lite and i actually like its features but I have reasons to try other roms. Is there a way I can revert back to my current OS with the same features if I decide I don't like the custom ROMs? And do I need some type of back up for it? I will of course back up personal files but I wonder for things other than that.

    Prevent constant minimization

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 12:26 PM PST

My Galaxy S7 has it in its old little head that I'm constantly pressing the minimize/switch apps button. Since this isn't tactile, I have no way to know if it's sensing something there or going nuts.

I've restarted the device, cold booted, and tried in safe mode - all present with the same.

The switch apps menu will appear seemingly randomly on any screen press in different locations or occasionally turning the phone in a different direction.

    Has anyone experienced this before?

    remote screenshots?

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 12:23 PM PST

When I go scroll through Instagram and get to someone's posts, the screen flashes like it's taking a screenshot - does this mean someone is spying on my phone? It is only this one specific person - and yes, there is an issue between us, so it is plausible that they would do that. Does anyone know what kind of app or program could be on my phone to take screenshots remotely? Because if I can identify it I can uninstall it. I am useless with all the different apps on my phone.

Mobile data not working on Samsung Galaxy A3 2017. Help!

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 12:15 PM PST

Hi everyone, I've been having an annoying problem for a few days now. My Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) with Android 7.0 does not connect to the internet and I cannot use browsers if I use mobile data. The really strange thing is that the internet connection works perfectly other devices when I use it as a wifi router in hotspot mode. I tried to follow a lot of guides on the internet and tried rebooting several times, clearing browser caches and resetting APN settings, but nothing. I've been using it a lot in hotspot mode lately and it often overheats, It would be awful if something is damaged on the hardware level. Thanks everyone for the help.

Question about videos on android phones

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 12:00 PM PST

I want an android that takes good videos, most notably when indoors and on a tripod. I also only really care about 1080p. However, I know there is more to video quality than resolution. Like grainy-ness, noise, etc.

Are most androids the same for this if they're recording at 1080p? Or is there software / different cameras that do improve video, when not talking in terms of 4k, 8k, etc.

If so, what phones would these be? Is Samsung video for example better than OnePlus 8t video that has basically same MPs on the cameras?

Any Z fold 2 users frequent the beach?

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 11:39 AM PST

Hey guys! I'm thinking about getting the z fold 2. Not too worried about durability or anything other than the fact that I live in Hawaii and pretty much am always at the beach.

I feel like this might be an issue, but i wanted to know if anyone has first hand experience. Thanks!

Strange white "dot" on upper left hand side of screen that randomly shows up only when using Chrome?

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 11:24 AM PST

I recently got a new phone and have noticed something weird. This only happens when using Chrome. I've attached a link to a screenshot of the white dot in the upper left hand corner of the screen. It happens very seldom. Like maybe once a day. I can make it appear by switching the theme of Chrome from dark to light then back to dark. As soon as I open a new tab or close Chrome it disappears altogether. It's not a dead pixel I don't think. So what is it? Just a minor glitch with Chrome? I'm using a Motorola phone running Android 10 for reference.

Phone using both headphones and speaker at the same time

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 03:08 AM PST

I discovered this yesterday on discord, but I tested and it seems to have this problem for any app. When I'm using headphones, the sound always exit from both headphones and speakers. That's something that never happened before and I have no clue on what may be the source of the problem. My phone is a Neffos C7 with Android 8.1.0

    Should I replace my Samsung A7 (2018)?

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 09:18 AM PST

Hello, this is my first time in this subreddit.

To give a better idea, I'm a teenager who's still being looked after their parents. My family doesn't have much money, which is why I try to save so I could afford for my own stuff or just in case of emergencies. I have what I consider to be a lot, but I think probably 5 times before buying something expensive.

I've been thinking about buying the Samsung A71, which I could afford-- but I would like to know if I could continue using the Samsung A7 (2018) I currently have for 2 more years. The reason why I've been considering of getting a new phone would be that I hear android phones would only get software updates for 3 years only, & I'm thinking that mine is in its last year.

I've been hesitating a lot because the smartphone I currently have still pretty much does everything I need well. They include: watching YouTube, using text messaging services (such as WhatsApp & Discord), an online banking app, Twitter, & Pinterest, & Spotify.

(Would it be safe to continue using an online banking app when the phone isn't going to receive software updates anymore?)

As you can see, I don't play video games in my smartphone so I wouldn't need the latest technology since I mainly use it for basic things.

I'd be grateful for detailed answers as I've been trying to convince myself that it would be better to save up more money & keep using the phone, but then I'd start to think that I probably should invest in a new phone. I keep going back-and-forth & it's been distracting.

How to calculate the Watts of the wall adapter?

    Posted: 26 Nov 2020 05:46 PM PST

I have this Samsung Type C Wall plug https://imgur.com/a/YIHaYKb. So I know W = A x V but specs on this wall plug are confusing so I see Output: PDO: 5.0V = 3.0A OR 9.0V = 2.77A PPS: 5.9V = 3.0A OR 11.0V = 2.25A So which number do I use to calculate the right output watts for this plug? what is the difference between PDO vs PPS?

    Freezing/disabling a android tablet.

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 08:18 AM PST

Long story short my cousin got into some trouble and his mom asked me to disable his tablet. Now i know i could just put a password, but i would like to do it in a way where it seems the device is malfunctioning so he doesn't get mad (he has anger issues), with the ability to reactivate the device later when his punishment is up. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Contacts app vs contacts in Phone app

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 08:12 AM PST

When in the Google phone app, I tap the contacts tab. There are all of my contacts - old backups, iPhone backups, new contacts. It's great.

When in the Google Contacts app, there are only about half as many. There's no rhyme or reason I can see either - some are new, some are like 10 years old that I didn't even have on my previous device, some numbers are there with no names. I have all the sync options toggled on (that I'm aware exist anyway) going to my Drive/Google account. Totally bizarre.

Anyone else? Anyone know what this is all about? Fixes?

Android app had photo access without storage permission

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 08:02 AM PST

Hello, Recently I've installed an app where i needed to verify a thing by uploading a screenshot. So I did a screenshot and moved back to the app so i can upload it, then i was really confused and a little bit terified, because when i pressed a button to upload a picture, the app did not ask for storage access permision, but instead showed me the gallery of my pictures, where i could select the file. How is it possible? So there is basically a way for apps to access the files without storage permission?

Why does it indicate an alarm is set when no alarm is set?

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 06:50 AM PST

I just switched from a Pixel 2 XL to a Pixel 4a 5G. I installed all my apps from scratch and did not copy data from the old phone. The only alarm related apps I have installed are the default Google Clock and *AMDroid".

As indicated in the screen shot, I have a pending alarm, but no alarm is set in either app. Any ideas why it's indicating that there's an alarm?

I did clear the cache in both Clock and AMDroid.

    Thank you.

Wireless mouse on Android Tablet. Samsung Tab A7 Long press not working

    Posted: 27 Nov 2020 06:11 AM PST

Hi guys, need help with my new Samsung Tab A7, so i got a bluetooth mouse and keyboard for it BUT i just can't bring up the context menu. I'm aware that the right click on mouse for android functions as a back button and so be it. However, I can't long press on the left mouse buttom to bring up the context menu as it would with a finger on the touchscreen!

I normally open up multiple tabs on chrome by long pressing on a link and hit the "open in new tab" option on the menu that pops up. It's getting really irritating that i have to reach out for the tablet touch sceen(now located a full arm length away) to do this, am i missing something with my settings?

    PLEASE HELP

EDIT: Okay so after experimenting a little more, i found out the long press does work. The issue lies with the browsers. Still can't long press on links with a mouse(no issues with finger on screen) for chrome/firefox/opera but it somehow works for the samsung browser and some other obscure browsers.
