{HELP REQUEST} Can I mirror pixel 2 with total screen loss to pC? Posted: 02 Nov 2020 09:40 AM PST I have a pixel 2 that completely lost it's screen(as in a few pixels died, then the whole display went permanently black), but the phone still works from what I can tell. I'd like to use it as a blank device to edit gopro footage since my main phone is full. I've seen a couple of threads online that use desktop apps to mirror the content, but they have all had a requirement that you tap "ok" or allow for the mirroring to start. Does anyone know if I can still mirror this phone without knowing if the screen is responsive anymore? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |

Is there any way to record something that just happened? Posted: 02 Nov 2020 01:49 AM PST So I use the built in Samsung screen recorder and also a third party recorder. However they only record from when you press record. On Win 10, if you use the Xbox game bar, you can record the past 30 seconds, same with xbox consoles. Is there anyway to do this on android? Overheating Samsung Galaxy S4, can I fix it Posted: 01 Nov 2020 08:56 PM PST I found a Galaxy S4 in the trash, and I rooted it and flashed a custom ROM. But now it's overheating, and sometimes it shuts down into recovery. Is there anything I can do to prevent it from overheating? [link] [comments] |
Bluetooth contact name different from contact name in phone Posted: 02 Nov 2020 11:27 AM PST Yesterday I got a call from a friend while I had my bluetooth headphones on. When I got the call I noticed my phone showed their nickname (the name I have them in my contacts as), but their actual name was announced in my headphones. Where is Android/Google getting their real name from? [link] [comments] |
texting problem on my one plus 7 pro Posted: 02 Nov 2020 11:15 AM PST i'm trying to figure out why some texts i send don't reach their destination and some texts others send me don't arrive. i can be in the middle of a text conversation, everything is working and then one of my texts won't arrive or vice versa. but then the next one will no problem. and when i highlight the text that didn't arrive, it will say sen't and give the time. i have enabled sms delivery reports but i never get any messages from it. and i can never get a delivered message on any of my texts. it will just say sent. i have spotty coverage so i think maybe that might be some of the problem but it seems like the messages would be delivered as soon as the coverage connected. i never had these issues on past iphones. they would send message as soon as they could. i'm a bit of a noob with this type of stuff but it is just frustrating not knowing for sure if your texts arrived. having to double check the person "did my text arrive" [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Nov 2020 09:46 AM PST When I Use Google to search a specific thing, sometimes the relevant information is lost within a web page containing info on dozens of irrelevant topics containing thousands and thousands of words. It'd be great to use some sort of search function that brings me directly the part I'm looking for instead of scrolling and scrolling for 45 minutes. I know most PC's have this function. And side question, if android does not have such a thing, why is that? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Nov 2020 04:55 AM PST Recently enabled Gboard when I was having issues with Swiftkey... ended up going with AnySoftKeyboard, and would like to disable Gboard again. When I open Gboard's app info, the disable key is greyed out . I have selected my other keyboard in Input settings and deselected Gboard, yet the button is still greyed out. I have also tried force stopping, as well as uninstalling updates. I have a Pixel 2, running Andoird 11. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Phone stuck at 0% update for over an hour Posted: 02 Nov 2020 08:33 AM PST Hiya. I have a moto g7 Supra. Today it told me to connect to wifi to start a cricket software update, which i did. It was low on battery (>20%), so i plugged it in after starting the update. Now my phone is stuck on "Downloading System Update" 0%. It's been stuck on it for well over an hour. I figured maybe the update wasn't installing because the phone was under 20%? I know google phones do that sometimes. However, even after charging it, it's still stuck! It didn't say anything about keeping the device plugged in while it's updating, but I figure that's the safest thing to do. How do I get this thing to install without bricking my phone? Thank you! Google Messages app not working for group texts with iphone users Posted: 02 Nov 2020 08:21 AM PST Is anyone else having any issues with their group texts in the messaging app? It started a month ago after the most recent update to Android 11 where it would take forever to send out a group message. Now, as of 4 days ago, anytime an iphone user tries to send me a group text they get an error message and/or it doesn't go through. On my end it takes forever for anything, if anything even gets through, to get through to my senders. I know this isn't an isolated incident to me because it has affected my co-workers with androids and friends as well. Any suggestions on fixes, or if Google knows about these issues? I'm currently on a pixel 3xl [link] [comments] |
[Android - Java] Looking for explanation why do some function calls work and some don't Posted: 02 Nov 2020 08:16 AM PST Hello everyone, I've been given a task of recreating an Android app that connects to a smart watch and transfers data to a database based on the available SDK. I'm a bit confused about the function calls because it appears the same format of function call sometimes works and sometimes it doesn't. As I'm not as experienced in Android programming, any feedback would be greatly appreciated. For instance, This function works fine,
defined in the SDK as
but something like this isn't accessed
eventhough the SDK user guide defines the function as

Posted: 02 Nov 2020 06:23 AM PST My battery is draining at extremely fast rates compared to before. But I can't find the battery thief, from what I could see in the battery usage screen it should be at 80% battery and not 15. Also some days ago picture gallery drained 30% battery on only 7 minutes of usage. How can I fix this? I have a oneplus 5t, android 10.0.0 [link] [comments] |
VPN status bar does not show up Posted: 02 Nov 2020 06:21 AM PST Sorry this has been asked by someone else 3 days ago, here's the link to his post. There weren't any answers, and I had the same problem so i decided to post this again. So the problem is, when I activated a VPN, a bar in notification panel would show that said Connected to VPN with a key icon. when you pressed it it would tell you how long you've been connected and how much data was transferred and you could choose to disconnect from the VPN. But now the vpn status bar is just not there. There's only the key icon at top-right and VPN's name at the bottom when the notification bar is pulled down fully. It did exist on Android 9 but i can't find it on 10. Or maybe it's OneUI's change. VPN notifications are on and Android System's VPN Status notification too, is on. (in fact it cannot be turned off) but it seems to not exist anymore. It was a really useful feature for me. Does anyone have the same problem? Is there a way to bring it back? Thanks in advance. Posted: 02 Nov 2020 06:11 AM PST Greetings fellow users of the android system I use my phone as my alarm clock, nothing new there, but boy am I getting tired of being woken up by random email notifications at sweet-jesus-no o' clock in the morning. Basically, I'm curious if anyone here knows of an app that can fiddle with the sound controls of my phone so it won't make any noise during pre-defined intervals (like from 11 in the evening to 5:25 in the morning) please advice [link] [comments] |
Low Brightness causes colour shift - Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G Posted: 02 Nov 2020 05:45 AM PST https://i.imgur.com/rwWmxAa.jpg Hi guys, I have just got this new phone (S20 FE) and I'm experiencing problems when the brightness is on the lowest setting. As you can see from the photo, the top part of the screen is a bit greener than the rest. Is this a manufacturing defect or what's going on? Cheers [link] [comments] |

TLDR: what would be the difference of using a Android phone with installed google apps Vs Android phone with google support., will there be limitations on the installed one or it will work the same as the ones with pre installed and has support from google. Posted: 02 Nov 2020 04:23 AM PST Warning this is more of a rant, delete if not allowed Its all about Android vs iphone I acknowledge iphone are much more stable than android in terms of usability but android is great in its own way, but my brother refuse to live with it We are from india a middle classed family where iphone are 2 times more expensive than in US (Iphone 12 pro max costs here 1,800$) He is using an android from 2016, he always complaint how android is shit, it lags and is not stable it sucks ios is great asf, i told him get an new phone, he need to upgrade, but dad won't buy him iphone 12, told him to get the Xr or 11, but not, he is just stuck the only thing, and i personally do not think it is worth to spend 1,800 usd on iphone 12, he is older to me so can't say much What are your views? Is it a good phone for 1,800 usd? [link] [comments] |
