Ethernet in Chromecast with Google TV? (aka Sabrina)

    Posted: 25 Sep 2020 08:20 AM PDT

Looks like the incoming Android TV from Google does not include Ethernet power adapter to cut price down, so... what are the options given it features just one USB-C?

I know there are some USB-C hubs with Power Delivery, Ethernet, card readers and so on, usually made for laptops. Feel like they're overkill.

Is there any chance that the old micro-USB power adapter from Chromecast Ultra would work here with micro-USB to USB-C adapter?

Anyway, I hope Google releases an official solution, main use for me would be game streaming and prefer a wired connection. In fact I was going to buy it first day but now I'm changing my mind.

    Android TV update

    Posted: 25 Sep 2020 06:44 AM PDT

I was wondering how does the Android TV OS updates work for all the different brand devices work? Now OS 11 came out so each and every brand will have to release their own update or the OS 11 will be pushed out by Google to those certified brands?

Just loaded this app and notice on startup it asks for Google credentials. I understand that my viewing histroy and preferences will only be save with using an account.

But always hesitant to give my credentials to 3rd part apps.

Does anyone know how safe this app is?

Chromecast died on me. What Andeoid TV box/stick should I get?

    Posted: 24 Sep 2020 09:56 AM PDT

Today my Chromecast died on me and after looking on the internet for 2h I'm convinced to buy a Android TV Box/Stick.

The only problem I have at the moment is that there are too many to choose from.

I live in Europe and am currently looking at the Xiaomi Mi Box S. I briefly went through the subreddit of the Mi Box and I saw a lot of complaints about the firmware. So i'm not sure if I should get it.

Can someone recommend a good box? Max €100,00. Will be using it for Netflix/Twitch/Spotify and if possible (like the Xiaomi) casting.

EDIT: i'll wait for the new Chromecast! Thanks everyone
