| FCM Messages Test Notification? Posted: 24 Aug 2020 10:28 AM PDT I got a four notification alerts from Google hangouts that says "FCM Messages Test Notification!!!" When I click on the notification it loads up hangouts but nothing happens... I haven't knowingly done anything to trigger this and I haven't heard from Google that they are doing any testing. | How to switch on android phone if power key is not working? Posted: 23 Aug 2020 11:30 PM PDT Hey, i got a phone to my mom from literal e-junk. It is oppo old piece (1GB RAM). It has display issues but works fines with few strip lines. I don't have any network connectivity issues also. So, oppo would do fine for my mom for incoming and outgoing calls. (And some whatsapp also). My only problem is its power key (and also volume keys) are not working. Now i turn on display by double tapping on it. But, what if someday battery completely drains off. Then how can i switch it on after i charge it? Is there anything i can do except taking care of it without getting it to 0% charge? Help me with this please. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 24 Aug 2020 11:08 AM PDT Because of my job and having epilepsy wreak havoc with my memory I've relied really heavily on call recording apps for a number of years now. I've been using ACR (the one with the red icon not the blue and purple, but any working method would be incredible) I just upgraded to a (UNrooted) Samsung S10e that got Android 10 shortly after purchase. Of course I've read the articles and watched the vids about them axing that capability once 10 dropped but what gave me hope is that somehow I did still get & make calls that sufficiently recorded the other party's voice also - even up to a few weeks after my update to 10. But since late July, nothin' but my own voice gets playback in app. I know how resourceful and creative most of us Android people are so I figured I'd at least reach out before giving up my last little drop of hope. Anybody have any insight? Ideally an app/mod, but even an alt working method that you've found or heard of would help so damn much. Or should I just give up my sweet naive dreams once and for all? I have the Samsung galagy S7, which was marketed as water resistant but I have some cracks in my screen. The phone did not turn of by itself but I did the moment I found it. But, as I was trying to take of the film that comes with the phone to put the one i bought, I noticed it was a very hard film. | Posted: 24 Aug 2020 03:34 AM PDT Hello everyone, I really need some help and am worried that I just lost a magnitude of personal files and pictures. I wanted to backup all my pictures and factory reset my phone, as one should after over a year of usage. I 'moved' all my files onto my desktop and I have all the files and the correct folder structure on my desktop - I'm not sure what happend, but it looks as if my PC compresses all files on my desktop (the blue arrows on the Icons) and that may have caused the damage, but I'm unsure. Anyway, every file is apparently 41gb large, yet compressed - they're literally that big of I moved them to another drive, but they cannot be opened. Guys, is there anything I can do or is everything just corrupted? I'm tech savey enough so If you have any ideas, let me know and I'll give it a crack. P.S. I have not factory reset my Phone (Samsung Note 10) so if anyone knows how to recover lost/moved files from my phone, let me know aswell. | Messages app All of a sudden draining battery? Posted: 24 Aug 2020 12:14 PM PDT 3 days randomly this last week, my phone battery has just been tanking. When checking my battery usage, the culprit appears to be google messages, which has currently used 19% of my battery with only 5 minutes of screen time recorded. I've gone into the message setting and turned off anything that would cause it to run in the background (location info, stuff like that), and it hasnt helped. I've reset my phone several times, let it die fully before charging, etc but nothing has worked. Has anyone else had this issue? My phone is an Asus Zenfone 4 if that helps at all. For instance, for daily convenience I want to be able to unlock my screen with a quick pattern or pin but if I get into a situation or power down my phone I can use a long password for extra protection. | "Quick connect has stopped" popup Posted: 24 Aug 2020 11:08 AM PDT Hi, On a Samsung S6 I installed a new Firmware. After the installation and first start (select the language and skip all the rest) I have a cleaned phone with internet connection (Wifi), no account, no SIM. Now, I have this popup with "Quick connect has stopped" that came out when I start the phone or activate it with the mouse gesture (from the black screen, sorry, I don't know the terminology). If I remember correctly I can't disable this system app ("Quick Remote") just from the phone Settings. Thanks [link] [comments] |

| How to prevent app from recognizing a device it was previously installed on Posted: 24 Aug 2020 10:19 AM PDT A friend downloaded a certain app which recognizes the device even if I uninstall it and re Install it or delete it copse file with sd maid and asked me how he can prevent it from recognizing the device. I know from him the app no longer recognizes the device if he factory resets it. From that I'm assuming it's something like the device identifier or something along those lines. What else could it be that the app is using to identify the device and what ways are there to change or prevent that? Ideally with no root or resetting the phone [link] [comments] |
| Can't send email attachments from multiple apps Posted: 24 Aug 2020 09:23 AM PDT Just started having this problem today... I'm not able to send attachments in Gmail or Outlook. Gmail just gives this constant notification saying "syncing mail", and it's stuck in my outbox but never gets sent, even if I clear old outbox items. This happens with both photos and documents. It also happens when I try to share photos from Google photos through Gmail, or attaching a document or photo in Gmail. Wifi and all other apps are working fine. I've cleared Gmail's data and cache, uninstalled and re-updated Gmail. I can send plain text emails from both Gmail and Outlook. I can also send attachments from both when using a web browser on PC. | How do I know if my phone is installing android 10? Posted: 24 Aug 2020 09:20 AM PDT I just got a used Pixel 3 xl today and, because it had been factory reset by the seller, I got a notice to install android 10 (with a download of 1.4gb). I tapped to start the update like 2 hours ago and since then it's just said "installing system update". I have no idea what it's been doing all this time, whether it's still downloading, whether it's even started the download, whether it's installing the files that have been downloaded...no idea. I keep checking in every half hour or so. One time when I turned the screen back on I noticed there was an option to "resume" at the very bottom, which I tapped, but only that one time. Furthermore, sometimes when I turn on my phone its essentially disconnected and I have to manually restart it and it will ifx itself afterwards. The only real thing I find is people saying going app by app in each one's settings and turn notification sound on or off there... but so many apps then have like 5+ categories for notifications and you have to mute each one. It would take forever to do that with all the apps on my phone. Basically I want to still received and SEE my notifications for most of my apps, I just don't want them to make noise. It's really distracting for me throughout my day. If I put my phone in Do Not Disturb it blocks notifications from popping up. I use DND at night to block everything except a couple contacts in case of emergency, so I don't want to use DND during the day. I wasn't sure if there is an easier way to do this in Android or maybe a good app for this? I found some notification management apps but none had this piece. I just want to be able to hear when I get emails, phone calls, texts, and a couple other important apps for my business and then have all other notifications silent. Also just love being able to customize as much as possible, so that is another reason for wanting to do this! Basically I just want to find a way to have a whitelist of certain apps being able to send audible notifications at different times of day... | Pictures randomly delete from the gallery - Samsung A10s Posted: 24 Aug 2020 08:07 AM PDT My mom just noticed that photos in the gallery's camera album randomly disappear into the recycle bin on their own, pictures from WhatsApp and photos stored in albums she made were fine for some reason. Does anybody know the reason this happens and how to prevent it in the future? My Theory of the whole situation is the albums for some reason are stored automatically on the SD card so they are fine and the WhatsApp images and tied to the app so they are also untouched. | Google Maps not recording any Timeline data Posted: 24 Aug 2020 08:06 AM PDT I noticed this a while ago and its become really frustrating, for years my Google Maps has always kept detailed timeline data on all the places I have been each day. On my current phone (Pixel 3 on Fi), there is no timeline data saved at all, and it refuses to save any new timeline data. When I look on my Timeline in Google Maps, it says "No Places Visited <Today>", for every day on the calendar going back to December 2019. Prior to December 2019, I had timeline data for every single day. However looking back, its been greatly truncated, does not include my daily travels just one or two locations. The really confusing thing is that I have never changed any of my Timeline settings, I have the following;
I know a while back Google announced that they would start auto-deleting old Timeline data, but every time I check my settings they are all set to ON for saving and not-deleting my data. So I am basically not recording any data at all since last December. Any ideas on what is wrong with this?
