What's happening during rotating the screen? Posted: 08 Jul 2020 07:07 AM PDT I heard that during rotating the screen you activity will be destroyed and onCreate() method will be called again. Does it mean that the whole activity class also will be cleared? Because we can have some variables at the top of the class before onCreate() method and they will be cleared too. In addition to that, we can use static keyword and the variable will not be cleared anymore (i guess it's because of the keyword that tells the VM not to clear the value of my variable). What do you guys think about that? [link] [comments]
Windows 10 + external monitor causes Android Studio to glitch & freeze at random times Posted: 08 Jul 2020 06:39 AM PDT Dear Community, It has been some years since I am using Android Studio and all in all, I really love it, so kudos for that. But I have a terrible issue that can happen up to 20 times a day and sometime, not once during a whole working day... This issue can happen on various hardware, be it a Lenovo laptop, an Acer gaming laptop or HP EliteBook. It has been more than a year since I am facing this issue at random times. After a while, I have gathered that it happens mostly when an external HDMI monitor (regardless of its brand and resolution) is plugged in, with an Intel-powered laptop running Windows 10. To me, these are the common "factors". What do I mean by glitches and freezes? Well, it usually occurs when I hit I believe the issue could be related to Intel iGPU, but on my Acer Predator gaming laptop, I have set Android Studio to use the nVidia GPU (an RTX GPU !!) but it did not prevent the issue at all. Am I the only facing such issue? Is there a solution ? This issue has been occurring since Android Studio 3.x I believe. [link] [comments]
