    App to control TV backlight?

    Posted: 15 May 2020 01:14 AM PDT

Hey, I have a 65" Bravia LCD & the backlight is way too bright at night & it's distracting, the built in brightness setting barely dims it at all.

I tried Twilight, and while it has a "Backlight control" tickbox, I can't find a setting in it to actually adjust the backlight.

But it does say the backlight is at "15%" brightness even though I can't adjust it with that app.

Anyone know of any other apps can adjust backlight brightness?

    Android tv google assistant help

    Posted: 15 May 2020 12:30 AM PDT

Hey guys looking for some help.

    I currently have a TCL 55 p6 series tv.

The tv is connected to my google home and I use my google nest to control the tv.

The command to turn the tv off works fine and it will also turn it back on provided it's within 30 seconds of switching it off. If I leave the tv off for a minute and try "hey google, turn bedroom tv on" it'll say "Turning tv on" but nothing happens? I have instant power enabled on my android settings. Any ideas?

Impressions of the Tivo Stream 4k

    Posted: 14 May 2020 07:52 PM PDT

After a few hours of tests, my initial impression is, I'm impressed. My expectation was simply for a better device than the Mibox S and it easily met that expectation. The device feels somehow more powerful, more satisfying to navigate around. It could be because the remote is so good. Whatever bump in processor speed the Tivo has is making a difference between the two.

The major issues I've seen so far, Plex and Emby both exhibit a black flashing during playback. Emby will not pass-through any surround sound audio. Vudu, Fandango Now, Movies Anywhere apps do not support 4K HDR on the device. All this seems like stuff that app updates can fix.

I think this device has great potential as a mid-level Android TV device. It's all about support of course.

VLC App on Android TV - save connection to a network storage

    Posted: 15 May 2020 01:27 AM PDT

With my old version (from early 2019 I guess) of the VLC player app on my TV (I have a Sony 55 XE8005) with Android TV OS I could save a connection with a network storage so that I dont have to put in all the login data again everytime when viewing media from the network storage.

But today I updated all my app on my TV and also the VLC app and with the new version I cant save the connection to a network storage. I have to put in the password again every time when I fully close the app and open it again and try to acced the network storage.

Is the function gone? Because that would be quite annoying..

    Hisense Android TV remote lag

    Posted: 14 May 2020 10:18 AM PDT

I recent bought a Hisense 4K Android TV, and I'm beginning to notice some considerable delay/lag on input from the remote. It can sometimes take nearly a minute, or repeated presses, to go to the home screen, back out of a video, etc. Is this a common problem? Is there anything I can do to mitigate the issue? Thanks in advance!
