This weekly Sunday thread is for you to let off some steam and speak out about whatever complaint you might have about:

    • Your device's manufacturer.

    • An app

    • Any other company

    Rules

    1) Please do not target any individuals or try to name/shame any individual. If you hate Google/Samsung/HTC etc. for one thing that is fine, but do not be rude to an individual app developer.

    2) If you have a suggestion to solve another user's issue, please leave a comment but be sure it's constructive! We do not want any flame-wars.

    3) Be respectful of other's opinions. Even if you feel that somebody is "wrong" you don't have to go out of your way to prove them wrong. Disagree politely, and move on.

I believe Instagram has improved the quality of uploads on Android

    Posted: 02 May 2020 02:39 PM PDT

At least when you upload an image to your feed.

Now the compression algorithm is so much better, I believe iOS level.

Time to sell the iPhone 5S I bought just for uploading to my feed.

    OnePlus 8 Verizon Edition PSA

    Posted: 02 May 2020 09:48 AM PDT

I recently purchased the OnePlus 8 from Verizon. I assumed the cases for all the OnePlus 8 variants would be universal. Two Amazon cases and one case from T-Mobile later I discovered the volume button is lower on the Verizon edition. To top it off the Verizon cases for this phone are sold out or expensive or shitty. Other than that and the tramp stamp this phone is pretty good. Especially considering they will give you a $550 credit for phones that aren't even close to worth that much.

TL;DR Normal OnePlus 8 cases don't work on the Verizon variant because volume button is lower.

EDIT: For those saying it's not true I will upload pictures tomorrow when I get off work. Also look at how much lower the volume buttons are on this Verizon case versus the T-Mobile variant:

Did the mid-range segment peak with the Mi9T? And if so, why hasn't anything else come close?

    Posted: 02 May 2020 07:55 AM PDT

I feel like nothing has really improved in the mid-range segment for almost a year (Mi9T released in June).

Actually for many things, we went backwards (was hoping notchless screens would be come the normality, instead we chase higher refresh rates) and nothing has really done as much as the 9T does for that price (less than 200£ at times on AliExpress pretty much since it came out and less than 300£ from Amazon).

How come I feel like we're still stuck with that phone as the most sensible pick for a mid-range?
