| A week since Covid suspension. Posted: 09 May 2020 12:34 AM PDT So it's been a week now since Google suspended my app because a news article pulled from an RSS feed contained the word Covid19. I appealed on day 1 and removed any mention of Covid. I get why they are doing it but surely there has to be a better way. I'm losing customers and potential customers because of this. Trying to find anyone to contact is impossible from what I can see, I thought I might get somewhere by messaging @googleplaydev on twitter but no luck. It has been a stressful week so far, I've hardly slept through trying to get it resolved but it looks like it will be a case of hoping it will be resolved. Do Google work on appeals on weekends? I really feel for anyone else going through the same thing. [link] [comments] | ||
| Kotlin vs React Native vs Flutter vs Ionic Posted: 09 May 2020 03:33 AM PDT Hey guys. My friend and I have been thinking about developing an app. He's much more into Hybrid technologies like Ionic or Cordova and I think native app would be better as it is only for Android. I decided to research it a bit. React Native: Amazing GUI with Native look, performance similar to Native apps, biggest market and community. FLutter: Best user interface, still new and market/community not as big as others, performance is outstanding. Ionic: UI using HTML and CSS, second most popular community after React native, loses in performance when compared to others. Kotlin: Native UI, market is growing fast, performs better than Java with better security, syntax and compatibility. What do you guys suggest? Edit: The major focus is on UI and it will have network calls but might eventually grow bigger with time as lot of features might be added. [link] [comments] | ||

| What are some great open source apps every Android developer could use/learn from? Posted: 08 May 2020 09:24 PM PDT Especially written in Java because that's where I'm personally trying to improve as a junior dev, but Kotlin would be great too. [link] [comments] | ||
| Q: Any reason I shouldn't use the Android App Bundle to publish my next app? Posted: 09 May 2020 02:56 AM PDT I think I understand all the benefits of the App Bundle (size, optimizations, etc.), which I've heard can increase installs and upgrade rates (according to Google), but I'm wondering if there's any one in this sub that is still reluctant to adopt it, and what are the reasons? As presented by Google, it looks like the holy grail, but are there any downsides that don't make the benefits worth switching for an existing app, or using for a new app? [link] [comments] | ||
| What analytics do you use in your apps? Posted: 08 May 2020 08:54 PM PDT My stack is: - Firebase - Intercom - Fabric (deprecated) Is there anything else worth to check? To be honest I'm asking because I'm not very satisfied with those services. It's super hard to find things I need. Fabric was the best in this matter but now it's deprecated. [link] [comments] | ||
| Help posting phone screen on pc. Posted: 09 May 2020 07:02 AM PDT I want to post my Samsung phone's screen on my computer. I tried using scrcpy to do so but I cannot seem to do so, even though it worked before. (My phone's screen was also destroyed the time it worked too.) I have USB debugging enabled as well. Scrcpy just continues to pop up the unauthorized device error on my Manjaro Linux pc. Anyone have any ideas? I cannot use my phone screen at all. And I just want to use my phone in this way so I can easily have android on my computer. No virtualization methods are working. [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 09 May 2020 05:39 AM PDT For example: I want to open activity with some information that stores in database. First I start activity and pass id (i use Anko) In InfoActivity I pass this id to InfoViewModel and subscribe to LiveData Then I load info using coroutines I use I do not know how to do. What do you do in such cases? [link] [comments] | ||
| Charging as a freelancer for the first time Posted: 09 May 2020 01:23 AM PDT I'm a software developer freelancer and i was recently asked to build an app for a customer but I have no idea how i should be charging for my services. Should i charge hourly or a one time payment? What factors should be taken into account when coming up with the value of my services regarding Android app development? Is there a certain rule/formula for it? If you have any extra advice on the topic of being a software developer freelancer please feel free to share. [link] [comments] | ||
| Android emulator crash causing pc issues Posted: 09 May 2020 04:55 AM PDT the android emulator keeps crashing for me, not only that, when it crashes I can't run the emulator again. what's even more frustrating is that I am unable to restart or shut down my pc properly after that, as it will be stuck in shut down and stuck in restart forever and I have to force shut down everytime. Things I have tried: - end task from task manager - taskkill from command prompt - shutdown emulator from adb or kill all emulators - uninstalled android studio completely and wipe every trace of it would be nice if a fellow dev can help me out here, it's extremely frustrating having to force shut down my pc when the emulator crashes [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 09 May 2020 02:45 AM PDT I have problems with identity verification in the Google Play console. I've already passed the ID verification and now Google asking me to provide the proof of address documents. So, I've provided my bank account statement from two different banks with my full name and the address but without luck. The refusal reason indicated in the response is always the same: "Specifically, we require that you submit a proof of address document that is dated within the past 90 days." But all my account statements were issued within the last month. Also, for context: - I'm trying to create my first account, I've not uploaded any app yet - I'm living in Russia, so all my account details on the Russian language as well as the documents I'm trying to use I'll appreciate any advice on how to solve this issue.
