Ring Notifications on Android TV - requires server with nodejs installed

    Hi All!

It's been a pet peeve of mine for a long time that Ring refuses to release an app that displays notifications on my Android TV (specifically, my Nvidia SHIELD). So I created a node application that uses the ring-client-api library used by /r/homebridge community and an app called PiPup to display snapshots from my Ring doorbell whenever there is movement or doorbell rings at my front door. Here's a photo of what it looks like:

    ring-to-android-tv

To get started, you'll need a computer of some kind running nodejs, an Android TV with PiPup installed, and a little bit of know-how to get it running. All the instructions are at the README file on my github page.

Please check it out and let me know if you have any issues or suggestions. I'm really hoping others can help out with testing and pull requests to enhance the script!

    Hi team,

Eyeing the following (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/254550919031) streaming box on ebay. I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to streaming platforms for TV, but I'm after a budget box that I can use on my ageing smart TV since it is no longer receiving updates! Is this deal too good to be true?

    Thanks in advance!

Mi Box S- Samsung Galaxy buds not working

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 05:15 PM PDT

I have a Mi Box S. I had paired my Samsung Galaxy buds earlier and I remember the audio was get routed to the Head phones from all the apps.

I did not use it later and recently I tried it again. First, the buds was not going auto connected to TV Box. I had to unpair and pair them again. Buds got connected but there was no audio.

When I tried paying any video in YouTube, that video would not play, until I disconnect the device. I tried local videos through MX player, the video paired without sound in either device. Netflix video never started playing until my buds was disconnected.

Also the buds never gets auto connected now and I have to unpair and pair them Everytime.

The only difference between the last time and now is, I have Android Pie updated. Any ideas to fix this?

    Thanks.

Recommend a good 2020 Android TV

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 11:09 AM PDT

Hello, I am looking to buy a new 2020 Android TV 43" to 49" inches max. I want it to run smooth and not lag like the TV I bought 2 years ago (Philips 7303) that lags like crap and is very slow.

My max budget is 1000$ I am not looking for an external android box or firestick, I am looking for an android tv.

    Any recommendations ?

Hi I'm considering buying either a Xiaomi mi or Apple TV 4K box to stream Netflix, Amazon prime and get access to ITV / BBC apps. Considering going for Xiaomi due to price point. Any suggestions / recommendations would be much appreciated.

    Philips 43PUS7303 constantly refreshing

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 10:23 AM PDT

Hi all. Anyone else experiencing this? On the Android TV menu, it'll constantly refresh. By which I mean the screen will go black for a couple of seconds, then the menu will re-appear. Often, when running an Android TV app, for example, Plex, it'll 'refresh' itself back to the Android TV menu. Even worse, when watching live TV, after approximately 30 seconds, it'll go back to the AndroidTV menu again, making it completely impossible to watch the TV.

    Any thoughts?

    Dodgy Android TV

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 05:12 PM PDT

    Dodgy Android TV

Something is off with this TV imo, but it's my first encounter with an android TV so I would like an experts opinion lol.

I am going to point out some things that seem weird (I don't know what is normal) :

    Apptoide came pre-installed

The Netflix app tries to cast TO other boxes, like a phone would

Sometimes WiFi turns off and to get it back on you need to unplug from the wall

Regular notification that says something along the lines of "Update Google Play Services : Google App won't run unless you update"

    Reported Android version is 6.0

Trying to get Disney plus but can't be found on either google play store app or apptoide, also can't be installed from google play website because "JINGLINGMODEL Smart TV" is "incompatible".

TV is Akai 55" Model: JJ554KS
