Play Store: Automated updates won't update Posted: 05 Mar 2020 12:47 AM PST Hi all! I was doing some IT support for my parents when I encountered the following: On one device (Samsung A3), in the Google Play Store app, I see (a) the string "auto-update is turned on" but also (b) a bunch of pending updates (see image in link, sorry for being German). Iirc, I've seen this the past couple of times. What's wrong there? I expect, if auto-update is turned on that … well, it auto-updates. And obviously, there are updates available that Android knows about. WTF? Any recommendations? [link] [comments]
Launching mulitple instance of an app Posted: 05 Mar 2020 10:44 AM PST I need this so i can launch mega app (cloud host) with various account without having to log in and out all the time. so i can have app shortcuts where each one corresponds to a different mega account [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Mar 2020 01:08 PM PST I am using a Galaxy S10e with Android 10. I have been using force dark mode recently to put apps such as Snapchat in dark mode, however it randomly stopped working and I can't figure out why. Apologies if this is a dumb question. [link] [comments]
How can I download stuff from Samsung cloud to OnePlus 7? Posted: 05 Mar 2020 12:53 PM PST Sorry if this post has some obvious answer I'm unaware of but my friend got a OnePlus 7 today and needs to download his contacts, images etc from Samsung cloud. He can't send anything from his phone though as it is broke beyond repair. Is there a way to download data from Samsung cloud without a Samsung? [link] [comments]
Moto Z with Verizon service keeps changing time zones Posted: 05 Mar 2020 12:48 PM PST My wife's phone is driving her nuts. It keeps resetting the time to be an hour later than it really is, so that her alarm keeps waking her up at 4AM instead of 5AM because the phones time thinks it is 5 when it is really 4. It is a "Moto Z^2 Force Edition. Our carrier is Verizon. What little I have found on this by searching the web (and it's very little indeed) suggested resetting various things, all of which I have tried, but to no avail. We live on the east coast, this is absolutely not a case of being on the border of a different time zone. The next time zone, the one it seems to be jumping to, is the Atlantic Ocean. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this? BTW: I also use Verizon on a different model Android phone. We live in the same home so we are hitting the same tower, yet my phone never does this. [link] [comments]
Issues with "set to always open" Posted: 05 Mar 2020 12:12 PM PST Does anyone else have the issue that Android ALWAYS asks if a certain app should open something "just once" or "always open" even though you keep selecting "always open"? [link] [comments]
Strange new G(oogle) button after recent update? Posted: 05 Mar 2020 12:07 PM PST I've noticed that a new button has appeared on my Nokia 7.1. it's labelled G and seems to only serve the function of bringing up a list of my recently used apps. It has however pushed up the row of apps that are supposed to be at the bottom of the screen which is annoying. I can't put anything to its left or right. And idea what it's supposed to be and how to hide it? (Can't seem to manipulate it at all, can only be used to pull up the app list mentioned before) [link] [comments]
How can I use a desktop mode without a Samsung or Huawei? Posted: 05 Mar 2020 11:41 AM PST I have a Realme X2 Pro and I wanna use it as a laptop using my USB-C portable monitor. I bought a chromecast, but it really isn't optimal, especially considering the low resolution. I bought a USB-C hub for my phone that utilises a HDMI, USB A and USB-C input, but the hdmi won't output to my portable monitor. Will a desktop mode be implemented in android? [link] [comments]
Is it possible to get the Asus ROG II to work on Verizon? Posted: 05 Mar 2020 10:53 AM PST I heard some people got it working data only by setting it up as CDMA-less. If I can at least do that then I'll be okay using a data using call app. [link] [comments]
Enable Haptic touch on Midrange/Budget devices Posted: 05 Mar 2020 10:00 AM PST This guide is fairly simple - I promise. *If you will damage your device (unlikely) it's your fault - not mine. Lets start! Step 1: Search at the Google Play Store: SetEdit (aka - Settings Database Editor) Step 2: Open the app Step 3: Go to the second selection (should be System Table) Step 4: Search settings with the letter H at the start Step 5: You will see: "haptic_feedback_enabled" and if its disabled, its should say "0" Step 6: Tap on "haptic_feedback_enabled" "0" Step 7: Choose: "Edit Value" Step 8: You should see the digit 0, change it to 1 and tap on "Save Changes" Step 9: Restart the device if it's not working, I recommend to Uninstall the app after its working (don't worry - the haptic touch will stay) Done! -If you're reposting, please give me credit :) Enjoy your haptic touch! Info: Tested on Galaxy A50 Android Pie OneUI (Feb. Security Update) A50 is 2019 midrange phone without Haptic Touch [link] [comments]
Workaround for "read aloud" copied text in Android 10? Posted: 05 Mar 2020 09:43 AM PST I've been using a TTS app to read entire chapters of books by coping the text to the clipboard, but this is now disabled in Android 10. The app I use recommended a workaround, by selecting "read aloud" from the copy menu. However, this only copies a few paragraphs worth of text. I would prefer buying audio books of these, but they don't exist, so TTS has been a big help. Now it practically doesn't work, and sharing from a text file also doesn't work, so I'm writing to ask if anyone knows of another way to send book chapters to TTS. Thank you! [link] [comments]
Installing old versions of system apps. Posted: 05 Mar 2020 05:45 AM PST I have a Note 9 on Android 10 but I don't like how one ui looks so I want to make it look as much as possible as Android 8. One way I'm doing this is by installing old versions of Samsungs apps. But I have hit a roadblock. When I try to install the old version of my files i have to install it as an update, which doesn't work. And i can't disable it. Is there a way to install it as a separate app instead of as an update? [link] [comments]
Has anybody found a way to fix Samsung smart Lock yet? Posted: 05 Mar 2020 09:30 AM PST I didn't mind it rarely working in the past but I've been having to check my phone constantly recently and it is extremely frustrating to have to input my pin every time. I have tried body lock as well as gps and it is the same. Works 1out of every 10 times. I've manually pulled my location pin, set up multiple spots around my house, and nothing. Everything I've searched over the past hour is just people like me complaining and nobody having a solution so I figured I'd come to Reddit. I'm currently on an A20 but came from a J7 and had the same problem so it's not the device. [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Mar 2020 09:19 AM PST So, we're having problems with other people's log in information being populated into our phones. My wife had a former boss who she is no longer associated with who's info keeps popping up. I just tried logging into Spotify and it put his username and password in... She's never had his stuff on her device, hasn't been in touch with him for 4 years, we have changed passwords, and put in two factor authentication. It usually happens right after we either get a new device or reset a device. We don't get any hits on the 2 factor stuff, it's just an auto fill thing. [link] [comments]
Question: are already-rooted devices protected more than non-rooted ones vs root-exploits? Posted: 05 Mar 2020 05:32 AM PST I've recently read an article about an exploit that acquires root on non-rooted device. This is actually not new to me, as I know there was a time that people (not me, as it's too shady for me to try) used "kingroot" app to root the device. What I wanted to ask, is something a bit weird: Suppose I already rooted my device (with Magisk), does it mean that such an exploit can't be used by malicious apps, as Magisk will popup and ask me if it's ok? Or do those kind of exploits are working above even that? [link] [comments]
Logging fingerprint sensor activity Posted: 05 Mar 2020 09:04 AM PST Hello. The fingerprint sensor of my G7 stopped working occasionally. I reset it, but the error kept occurring. I sent it in under my warranty, but they said nothing is wrong and sent it back. I'm now having a reset phone and I'm trying to see if it happens without installing any app, but it can take a few days until it stops working again if it even stops. Is there an app I can install to log everything and see if the Fingerprint sensor crashes, e.g. Due to a specific app? I installed catlog, but it's super old and doesn't log Fingerprint sensor activity [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Mar 2020 08:49 AM PST I don't mind getting them. They're important. I do mind having my volume hijacked and set to maximum volume while I'm driving ,forcing me to take my eyes off the road, find my phone, look at it, input my password and then cancel the alert. All while driving at 100k. So. Anyway to delete the alert sound. Block it. Would be appreciated. I'm rooted Oneplus 6 in Canada with all my ma's settings set up to NOT have it do this. I had it all turned off today and I still got it. Clearly the government doesn't respect my choices. [link] [comments]
Asus ROG Phone: Battery draining by upwards of 30% overnight. Posted: 05 Mar 2020 08:45 AM PST I know for sure this isn't normal. My battery health is fine, as the phone drains normally during use. It says it can be in standby for 150+ hours when I look at the battery modes. It's already set to disable mobile networks shortly after entering sleep mode. I just do not understand how it could be doing this instead of the ~1% it's supposed to. [link] [comments]
| Any way to remove clock from lockscreen? (Android 10) Posted: 05 Mar 2020 02:42 AM PST I am on pixel experience android 10. I can move to some other custom rom if it would allow this functionality. I just want to be able to not see the current time on lock screen. If it just shows the lock pattern without any info i would be happy. Currently i can turn off notifications and thats it. | My phone seems to hate Wifi and Bluetooth Posted: 05 Mar 2020 08:12 AM PST Before anyone asks: Yes I've tried turning the wifi off and back on again, same for my phone. Its not in airplane mode (I never use that). My phone is a Galaxy J7 Crown. I've never gotten it wet, I rarely ever drop it (I'm very careful with phones), and I have no idea when exactly this issue started. My phone has been refusing to connect/stay connected to wifi. Not just my houses wifi, but the wifi at my sisters house too. (I'm at her house frequently to babysit my nephew so she lets me use her wifi.) It will be working fine one second but then suddenly drop the wifi all together the next second. Its really frustrating and I've tried pretty much everything I could find online to try to fix it. Is my phone just broken or something? I've had it for a while now and it works perfectly fine besides the wifi issue. I really don't know why its refusing to work with the wifi. I don't want to rely on just my data to do stuff. Its also started to randomly drop connection to bluetooth items if I'm using bluetooth. Like the bluetooth will suddenly turn itself off for a second and then back on again? The wifi seems to drop mostly when I'm using apps. Any app I try, whether its fb, pinterest, a game, music app, etc. it drops the wifi. I don't know what the problem is. Nothing else I use has any problems connecting to the wifi. Its just my phone. I've asked a few other people if they have problems connecting to the wifi here with their phones and they always say no. [link] [comments] |
Can Android phones use apps on Wi-Fi without established cellular service? Posted: 05 Mar 2020 07:59 AM PST Sorry for my ignorance, I'm not very tech savvy. I want to get a cheap Android phone to use to read and print NFC tags, which isn't available on iOS. I need to know if Android phones will let you use apps on Wi-Fi, basically behaving as a small tablet, without getting it hooked up to my cell plan. I don't plan on ever using it for calls or when I'm out and about, only at home on Wi-Fi. Am I able to do that or will it bug me incessantly to get cell service? I don't want to spend more money than I absolutely have to, especially if I don't plan on using cell service at all. [link] [comments]
Google Play: Connection Failed with code 16 Posted: 04 Mar 2020 11:18 PM PST I'm trying to play Motorsport Manager 3 on Samsung S10 but I've recently had this error message come up. The only mention of this I've seen online is to do with Android Auto, something I don't use. So what does this error 16 mean and how do I fix it? [link] [comments]
Android Messengers is missing sms messages Posted: 04 Mar 2020 08:50 PM PST I've used "messenger" for years no problems. Then about 6 months ago it failed to get group messages. Also it seemed to have a downloading icon when I was getting a message. This took a while to download. I moved to the "pulse" app and that seemed to work. But now it's happening again. Any clues to what is happening ? Thanks for any help. [link] [comments]
Is it possible to force a software update on my Android? Posted: 05 Mar 2020 06:07 AM PST I have an LG K20 plus and the last software update I got was a security patch for Android 7 on December 2018. I don't know if it's that my device doesn't support it or something but I want to upgrade the software to Android 8. How can I do that? [link] [comments]
