Mi Box S - multiple remotes?

    Posted: 10 Feb 2020 03:05 AM PST

I have a Mi Box S. I was wondering, would 2 remotes work? I find the range to be excellent and when I take my remote with my to my home office, I can pause the video being played from there. However, most of the time my remote is in the living room where the TV is.

I was wondering if I could buy another remote and keep that in the office?

My guess is that it wouldn't work but I wanted to make sure.

    HDMI audio dropout

    Posted: 10 Feb 2020 04:28 AM PST

    Hello,

    I have a sony android tv kd55xf7596.

It works fine except when I connect my computer in HDMI. The sound drops out regularly (it stops 3/4 seconds every now and then).

I tried 3 hdmi cables. The last one is supposed to be a good one: https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B00OCKMKBQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I found an old forum thread (from 2011...) where other people have the same issue: https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/other-tvs/hdmi-audio-drop-out-on-kdl-32bx320/td-p/239613/page/2

The solution seems to be a firmware update. I just made manually the latest firmware update and the issue remains.

Do you have any suggestion to fix this?

Ultra Smooth Motion (AMR+800): Is that normal that while watching a movie some parts feels juddery while others properly smoothed out by ULTRA SMOOTH MOTION feature? Like its normal that it doesnt smooth properly all the objects?

    Posted: 10 Feb 2020 06:25 AM PST

    1. Also, in some (not always) places when one objects moves fast above others, behind the fronted object its like computerized artifacts, thats a normal effect of ultra smoothing in 4K TVs?

    2. On 30FPS content it works pretty well, on 60FPS content judder is terrible like Utra Smooth Motion doesn't really do any correction, is that nomral?

I need some advice on Android TV boxes.

    Posted: 10 Feb 2020 05:01 AM PST

    Hey folks,

I am currently thinking on switching to an Android TV box as parts of my infrastructure are dying.
    My current infrastructure consists of:
    - an RPi 3b with Kodi(LibreElec)
    - FireTV Stick (1st Gen. I believe)
    - Chromecast 3rd Gen.

The RPi serves me as a mediacenter with multiple external storage-drives connected to it, media files are encoded with h.264.

Is there a certified android tv box which can do Amazon Prime, play h.264 files and does support Chromecast? (With me being german-based I believe my options are quite limited)

Can I set up Android TV like a PVR? Help for a newbie

    Posted: 10 Feb 2020 12:56 AM PST

Firstly I am very new to all this so I appreciate the patience and advice.

I just bought a PVR, I did this on a bit of a whim and in hindsight there are a few things I'm not sure of.

I've since seen that Android TV might solve my issue (and be a much simpler fix). Any thoughts or suggestions from those in know would be a huge help.

Ultimately I want a product that will record free to air TV, that I can put on a hardrive and play on any device.

I made a snap decision (I know, rookie mistake) and bought a PVR which, as it turns out, locks the content to that machine only so I can't watch the content elsewhere.

From what I've read of Android TV there are apps that you can watch free to air TV? How does this work? Do I need a specific android TV box (if so, can I play the content on any device?)

Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Android Update Caused 'Not Supported Format' Error for Chromecast Option.

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 09:24 AM PST

Saw an update installation two days ago. Went ahead and pushed forward with it. Noticed that i couldn't really cast, so i cleared cache, still no ability to cast. BUT - if i cast my home security system, totally fine. Aside from that, i've noticed some odd video delays when using hulu, audio seems fine though. Anyone else experiencing the same thing? I have a Xaomi Mi Box S.

Xiaomi Mi Box problem when I try to watch a movie

Xiaomi Mi Box problem when I try to watch a movie

    Hello everyone,

One month ago I bought the TV box that I attached in the post. I bought it bc I really like to watch movies every weekend with pizza, and everytime that i wanted to watch one movie, I had to move my incredibly heavy PC thre floors downstairs, conect it via HDMI and watch the movie with VLC. My computer is really powerful, so I always try to download the 4K Blu Ray movie, something that is like 50-70 GB, to watch it in the best possible way enjoying every single detail.

A friend recomended me to buy this TV box, an external hard drive of 1 tb, and to plug the tv box in my living room tv (it is not an smart tv), download something called KODI, fill the hard drive with all the films from my computer, and conect the HDD to the Xiaomi mi box. My tv is just 1080p btw, so i can just config the tv box to 1080p 60hz.

That is what I did, and omfg, KODI made a really beautiful library with my films, showing the actors, directors, cover, plot summary etc. with a nice interface. I was living a dream. The problem is that, when I try to watch warever movie (even those that are microHD and just have 3-5 gb), they have like "microlag". LEt me explain, the movie works properly but, every 4 or 5 seconds, you see a almost unoticeable freeze. If you dont care, you can watch perfectly the movie but, if you are a maniac like me, it is inmposible, every "microlag" is a knife in my heart.

In my pc, the movies works fine, absolutely smooth.

I think it could be those things:

    • The tv box is not enough powerful and cant handle 60 gb movies, but is absurd bc 4 gb movies have the same problem.
      • Please, if you think is that option, I would like you to recomend me any TV box that you think is better for what I want, watch High Quality and heavy films with a player, like nvidia shield or something like this.
    • Just have usb 2.0, not 3.0 (the blue one), so maybe cant take the data from the hdd as fast as it needs (i dont know about computers, so maybe im saying a supidity)
    • Maybe is KODI, so I downloaded VLC for android, but i works even worst. And, I dont know why, if I activate subtitles, lag is horrible.

Thats all, thank you very much for helping me bc i dont know what to do.
