Download an app that's not available in my country?

    Posted: 13 Feb 2020 07:33 AM PST

I have a residential VPN and Netflix US works fine for me(I'm in Europe).

I have a Disney+ account, all I need is the app on my Android TV.

However, when I have the VPN running via OpenVPN, and open the Play Store, it will say "can't connect. Check your internet connection and try again". I guess it doesn't like the fact that there's a VPN running on the device?

    Any solutions here?

Need someone to test an app for me

    Posted: 13 Feb 2020 06:36 AM PST

I do not have an android TV as of yet, but i would like to test if the app called Macrodroid works on a TV. If i look at the play store for TV's it is listed there so it should work?
If anyone can create a macro that just opens chrome to a certain website (like youtube) whenever you boot the TV, that would be great. The app is very easy to use so this shouldn't be a problem to figure out.

I am looking to a buy the Sony KD-49XG8305 to use this on, but any other tv would probably suffice.

“App not installed.” When trying to download different version of Netflix? Please help.

    Posted: 12 Feb 2020 02:00 PM PST

So my Bravia auto-updated to version 9 and I wanted to reinstall Netflix 5.4.1 because that version works with NordVPN. On version 8, I used to APK Editor Pro to simply change the package name (because Netflix can only be disabled on the Bravia) of the Netflix 5.4.1 and it installed fine, however; on version 9 no matter how much I change the package name and how I do so (I've used APKTool to change the package name as well) the package installer always results in the error message "App not installed." when I click install. I've changed the app name, the sdk versions, app name, and the installation location and nothing has worked. I have no idea why it won't install and how the OS knows that I'm trying to install another version of Netflix. If anyone had any advice I would appreciate it A LOT! Thank you so much in advanced for any feedback.

Update android TV version on a Smart Box

    Posted: 12 Feb 2020 11:58 AM PST

Hey, i have an old smart box Tronsmart Vega s95 that runs an old version of Android 5 if i'm not mistaken, it's also runs their poorly launcher.

I would like to update the android version on this box, i found no available OTA update, and their website didn't offer any manual downloads.

Is there any option to manually install a clean android TV firmware on this box? version 8 or 9 would be good i think.

    All I want is...

    Posted: 12 Feb 2020 12:01 PM PST

An android box running stock android tv, with 4K, HDR, half decent memory (2 or 3 gigs), half decent cpu, with the usual codecs (h264, h265, dolbi surround and so on), Netflix, two usb 3.0 ports and one Ethernet port....

Ffs give me a mi box with an Ethernet port and two usb 3.0 ports... I'll pay extra!!! :( (cries while trying to stream 4K in plex with bit rate bumps nearing the 400mbps and 5ghz WiFi is struggling :( )
