AdMob banned me in December but just reached out to help me "drive revenue with native ads"

    Posted: 11 Feb 2020 08:04 AM PST

So the title sums it up. Taking a call later today.

I was banned in early December with no notice, filled out all the right forms... and was ghosted for two months.

Had nearly absolute proof it was a competitor launching an attack campaign - complete with several tickets I put in saying we were seeing strange activity for months prior.

Not sure whether to take it seriously or as a joke at this point.

Apparently Google is so completely disorganized they don't even realize who they've banned.

Thoughts on how I should go about the call?

Would be nice to get back all that lost revenue.

I have a row that contains image, textView and image button and when I press imageButton I want do something with textView but when i click anywhere else I want to do dismiss a popupwindow and do something with object that is in activity. Is there any other way to do it other than sending that object that i want to change and popupwindow to adapter? I tried putting a listener on row but than I override my listener on imageButton.

    Create gradient color programatically

    Posted: 11 Feb 2020 03:43 AM PST

How can I create a GradientColor programmatically based on the angle of the current time on Canvas?

For example if the current time is 3pm, I would like the gradient to start from 180 degree (or 0 degree?), and constantly update the angle of the gradient every 10 minutes?

Android Studio 3.6 Release Candidate 3 available

    Posted: 10 Feb 2020 10:50 AM PST

I need help creating this layout and functionality. I am required to drag images outside of recycler adapter and animate that interaction. Does anybody have any suggestions and is this possible at all? (VIDEO EXAMPLES INCLUDED)

    Posted: 11 Feb 2020 05:55 AM PST

The title says it all basically. I will leave streamable:

    https://streamable.com/py0y7

If needed I can provide code because I managed to drag view out of adapter and put it in activity. I used basic drag-and-drop functionality with DragData and onDragListener.

But I can't managet to get view to scale down on pulling and to remove it from adapter with animation while also animating next view coming in. Can anyone help me? Any suggestions would be great.

How can I make sure that location services are turned on when location permission is given by the user?

    Hello,

I have a situation where the user gives permission but location services on their phone is turned off, making the action pretty much useless. How can I make sure that doesn't happen? I'm working on a solution with `SettingsClient` but I'm not sure if that's the right solution. Thank You!

Where to find someone who could port an app to android for me?

    Posted: 11 Feb 2020 07:23 AM PST

Hey guys. I would like to have an app ported to android but have no idea where I could find someone to do it for me (i would pay ofc). Do you guys know any website? Besides, what would be a reasonable price? I don't have the code (the app can be tried for free for 14 days then you have to pay). Not giving to much details, it's app to analyse word. Available on linux already, but only for intel 32/64. Maybe compiling a version for arm processors would work? Is that something difficult? Thank you !

Senior dev interview and coding challenges

    Posted: 11 Feb 2020 02:10 AM PST

What's the general consensus on giving senior devs a coding challenge and/or to make a sample app on job interviews? It's generally frowned upon right? Also what do you tell HRs that tell you that?

    Flutter vs React Native ?

    Posted: 10 Feb 2020 10:11 AM PST

Hi all , I'm working on a fresh side project and I'd like to get some opinions about this.

On one hand , I'm a very experience JS dev. I roughly know exactly how to build what I need with React Native. But I'm getting sick of JavaScript. I stare at it all day. And while React Native is great when it works , some days it feels like a hacked together mess. I still prefer it over native Android though.

Dart FEELs fresh , and assuming it has good code completion I might try to get something started with it. The big downside with Dart is a lack libraries compared to React Native.

A third option is typescript. My biggest issue with JS is in any project of scale it's harder to keep things organized. Obviously Typescript was created to address this issue.

Is it worth learning native Kotlin development or should I opt for Flutter/RN/Xamarin?

    Posted: 10 Feb 2020 08:57 PM PST

I have experience in backend and devops development but I have never done much of front-end. For personal reasons, I want to delve into Android development but I heard mixed opinions on the current state of mobile development. I read over at some forums and on reddit that Google, Apple & Microsoft are working together to bring out a universal OS (like Fuchisia) and that native development of individual platforms will be rendered useless. Is this true? Should I focus on Kotlin development or jump into cross platform flutter/RN or should I wait for any major changes, if they are nearly on the horizon?
