Sunday Rant/Rage (Jan 19 2020) - Your weekly complaint thread! Posted: 19 Jan 2020 03:11 AM PST Note 1. Join our IRC, and Telegram chat-rooms! Please see our wiki for instructions. This weekly Sunday thread is for you to let off some steam and speak out about whatever complaint you might have about:
Rules 1) Please do not target any individuals or try to name/shame any individual. If you hate Google/Samsung/HTC etc. for one thing that is fine, but do not be rude to an individual app developer. 2) If you have a suggestion to solve another user's issue, please leave a comment but be sure it's constructive! We do not want any flame-wars. 3) Be respectful of other's opinions. Even if you feel that somebody is "wrong" you don't have to go out of your way to prove them wrong. Disagree politely, and move on. [link] [comments]
Posted: 18 Jan 2020 10:51 AM PST Device reviews are everywhere these days. From big name technology websites to lesser known blogs, and to the rising stars on YouTube. You can find hours upon hours of review content on most any well-known device out there. For those of you who like to hear about devices from actual users, though, it's hard to find a good place with reviews that aren't scattered all over the place. Plus, many reviews only showcase the device while it's being tested and might not reflect real-world usage over a long time period. This thread is where you, the /r/android community, can share your experiences with your device. Hopefully users who read this thread can gain some valuable insight into a device they're researching to see if they want to buy it. This week we are focusing on LG's Android devices. We will also focus on other OEMs in the upcoming weeks. Past threads: /r/android reviews: Asus Zenfone line /r/android reviews: Google Pixel and Nexus line /r/android reviews: HMD Nokia line Rules: 0) Please leave a top comment only if you own an LG Android device. 1) Please specify if the device was purchased yourself or obtained from the company or a third party as a review device or a gift. 2) What device do/did you own? 3) What were your initial impressions of the device? 4) How did your impressions change over time? If you currently own the device, how do you feel about it now? 5) Feel free to talk about anything else you would like (eg. sensors, software, customizability, strength of the custom ROM scene, etc.). Remember, reviews are personal, so emphasize the things you feel are important! If you love or hate something about your device, let it be known! [link] [comments]

PSA: Don't use ultra power saving mode if you have a password and have disabled the Samsung keyboard Posted: 18 Jan 2020 12:59 PM PST I have a Galaxy S8 and have disabled the Samsung keyboard (among a bunch of other apps) as I prefer using Gboard. I'm also using fingerprint+password instead of a PIN, which lead to a very unfortunate situation today. For the first time, I activated the ultra power saving mode as I was running low by noon. However, UPSM disables the fingerprint sensor, forcing you to enter the password every time. But as UPSM also disables all but a few apps, Gboard was also disabled. With no keyboard available, I am simply unable to enter my password to unlock my phone, leaving me effectively locked out. I'm currently traveling, so I don't have access to a USB keyboard, but I'll try when I get back (though I've heard that the USB port disables external devices in UPSM; in that case, rip?). I've also tried to unlock my phone using Samsung's FindMyMobile, but apparently Remote Unlock is disabled on my device. It's ridiculous that I might be forced to reset my phone over this. Just let that sink in. TL;DR: Don't enable ultra power saving mode if you are using a password instead of a PIN and have disabled the Samsung keyboard. [link] [comments]

How much storage do you need on your phone? Posted: 18 Jan 2020 11:40 AM PST Hi everyone, I hope you're all doing well. I wanted to start a discussion regarding smartphone storage and how much you actually need on YOUR phone. I have a Note 10+ that comes equipped with 256GB storage and I've owned it since 24 August 2019. In 5 months I've managed to conjure up a whopping 39GB/256GB used storage. I've never really been one to take hundreds of photos and videos and all of my music is saved on Amazon Music which doesn't take up any space on my phone. I don't have a massive amount of apps either, just the essentials like; YouTube Vanced Amazon Music Facebook / Messenger Snapchat And so on.. I don't really play games on my phone because I have a Nintendo Switch for that. I honestly think I would be fine with 64GB storage in 2020. What about you guys? What's the perfect storage for you out of; 64GB 128GB 256GB 512GB 1TB And please don't just put the highest amount of storage for the sake of it, look at your current storage usage and give me a realistic answer, No point in having all that storage if you're never gonna use it. EDIT: Thankyou for all the replies guys, I'm reading every single comment that comes through, apologies that I don't have the time to up-vote and respond to them. [link] [comments]
