Max brightness when opening some apps on J7 Posted: 26 Dec 2019 04:00 AM PST Whenever I open some apps like Chrome, Reddit and YouTube the brightness will turn all the way up while the slider will stay unchanged on low and I have to slide it's bit to the left or right to go back to the brightness I want. This started yesterday and I didn't change any settings. [link] [comments] |
My phone is dead, won't charge. Battery icon disappears/glitches. Posted: 26 Dec 2019 08:54 AM PST Umidigi F1, Fido. EDIT: The flashing has stopped and initially displayed 19%. Turns out the flashing may be using the battery so fast, it drains it. Last night I forgot to charge my phone, so the next morning when it was dead, I plugged the included cable. However, the battery icon appears for a second then glitches out. Sometimes the screen stays on with nothing displayed. Sometimes the included cable will flash the battery icon and the screen turns off. This loops over and over. I've tried a spare cable around the house and different docks/power sources. They produce the same effects. Online sources say that the cable or dock is at fault, so I just ordered a new set of cables (USB C). It may be true since my included cable is constantly bent but I didn't break it. I tried cleaning out the charging port with air but it still does not work. I don't see any anomalies inside it. Yesterday it was working just fine. Any solutions or potential fixes? The phone is currently charging. [link] [comments] |
Can I force my Android phone to use a Work Profile? Posted: 26 Dec 2019 07:08 AM PST I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Note 10+. Earlier this year I was working in an office. They used Gsuite and when I wanted to add my work email to my phone, my phone forced a Work Profile on me. It installed my apps in a separate "Work" mode, with its own Play Store and settings. I grew to love it. I was able to have 2 versions of apps installed. Also, my phone gave me a quick option to disable/mute/hide all my Work apps, which I did every day when I left work. Now I'm working somewhere new, and they're using Microsoft. It doesn't look like they have any Enterprise settings set up, and it's just letting me log into work stuff in all my default personal apps. I liked having all my apps in their separate Work profile. They had special icons, my launcher kept them in a separate tab, and turning off all my work stuff was great. Now everything's all lumped in together, and it's much less convenient. Can I force a Work profile on my phone? Samsung has Knox security stuff, but I can't seem to force it on. [link] [comments] |

How have your security updates been under Android One? Especially Motorola Posted: 26 Dec 2019 10:28 AM PST I'm looking at the Moto One Action, which seems like a good deal at $250. It was released on 16 Aug 2019. How many years will the Moto get security updates? Google's website says at least two years. Is this accurate, based on your experience? [link] [comments] |
How to turn off Permission Reminder notifications Posted: 26 Dec 2019 02:12 AM PST Ever since I updated my phone to android 10.0, I've been getting daily notifications telling me that an app, that I have previously given permission to use my location, is using my location. How can I turn off these notifications? I've tried going into my notification settings and looking at system apps so I can select Permission Manager, but the option to turn off notifications and the option to turn off permission reminders are both greyed out. Can I turn these off, or am I stuck seeing these annoying notifications every day? [link] [comments] |
What does it mean when Google says Pixel phones only get updates for 3 years? Posted: 26 Dec 2019 11:24 AM PST Does this mean that after 3 years the phone will stop getting security updates and become unsecure? I'm really excited to get a Pixel, but when I saw on the Google store this little gem that Google will only provide 3 years of updates, it made me think that the phone has a relatively short shelf-life. I mean, my Chromebook gets updates for 5 years, so why such a short update period for the Pixel? What happens to the phone after it stops getting updates from Google? [link] [comments] |
Google Maps GPS lost when screen turns off and in Battery Optimized Mode Posted: 26 Dec 2019 11:06 AM PST I have an AT&T Galaxy S9+ running the latest phone updates and the latest Google Maps. Whenever I run Google maps and my screen turns off, it will lose GPS signal. This issue happens when I have my Power Mode set to Optimized. If I'm on High Performance, Google Maps works fine. I have searched this issue on the Googles and most solutions say to check the sleeping apps list and make sure that Google Maps is set so that it's not on Auto Sleep. I checked the Maps app and when I click check the Battery section, the "Allow background activity" is grayed out and I cannot press the button to turn it on. It also says "Not Optimized" under Optimize Battery Usage. I checked the Sleeping apps list and Maps is NOT set to go to sleep. I'm not sure what to do to get this working correctly. I'm posting here in the hopes that someone can help me find a solution to my issue. I would really prefer to run my phone in Optimized Battery mode so that I can make it through an entire day without needing to charge. But, I use Google Maps frequently and having it lose GPS signal once the screen goes dark is a major issue for me. This issue has been present for at least 6 months now, so I hope someone can help me out. If there's any additional information you need from me, let me know and I'll do what I can to provide the info. [link] [comments] |
Selling unopened phone for full price? Posted: 26 Dec 2019 10:24 AM PST I've been looking at the OnePlus 7t, however there is a sale on the OnePlus 7 pro making it $500 rather than the normal $670. I would still prefer the 7t though. Is there any way I could sell the 7 pro for full retail price ($670) or at least close to it (above $600)? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 26 Dec 2019 08:09 AM PST [solved] Hello all, I'm currently having trouble with Bluetooth on my OnePlus 6. It seems my phone is unable to discover any new Bluetooth devices, though it still connects fine to 'already connected devoces' I have tried connecting to my new Bluetooth device using NFC and though it does reccognise the device using NFC it prompts me with 'pairing unavailable' after a few seconds Thanks in advance Solution: I went to OnePlus.net downloaded their latest update. Bluetooth is fully functional now. Hope this helps any else with this problem [link] [comments] |

Posted: 26 Dec 2019 04:50 AM PST I'm thinking about buying my first Android phone after using only iPhones, but have found an issue that I hope there is a solution for. I've come across certain websites that don't seem to adapt the layout to mobile small screens on android but they do on iOS. Is there a setting that can be changed? Or is this a known issue when the webdevs didn't adapt their sites to Android? It feels like kind of big deal to me. Hoping there is a fix. As example, one of the main Swedish newspapers Expressen has this problem. It looks fine on iOS chrome but the site overflows the screen on android Chrome. Expressen has an app so could surf there, but I visit the site infrequently and don't install apps for sites that I don't visit frequently. I'm worried that there are other websites that have the same issue if such a major site has this problem. [link] [comments] |
My internet browsers keep opening ad pages. Posted: 26 Dec 2019 04:25 AM PST My phone will randomly open up internet pages that are usually ads for random sites. I've looked into it and everything says look for an unnamed app but I see none. I'm not sure what to do this happens every hour and 15 minutes or so. Its kept me awake. Edit: I'm restarted multiple times and "Disabled" chrome but I cant disable the main internet browser. I've uninstalled multiple apps i dont use anymore and still cant find a solution. I'm afraid I'll have to factory reset soon and I'd rather not. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 25 Dec 2019 06:15 PM PST I just got a new Pixel 4 XL for the holidays and it's great. I originally had a Pixel 2 XL so I was already on Android. One of my favorite functions was using the back button in the bottom left to go back from anything that you went into. The new Pixel 4 XL has a similar function but it's harder to use since you have to swipe from the side of the screen. Any way that I can get my back button back? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Dec 2019 06:43 AM PST Idk how to solve this. I already searched google too! So this started a couple of days ago, like suddenly my apps are just deleted and corrupted. Then i saw today that even some of my videos too? Some videos are corrupted/deleted, some are not. Heck I even had one folder missing which had all my videos. Please someone help me how I can solve this, thanks! [link] [comments] |

Android just went into full factory reset yet everything seems there Posted: 25 Dec 2019 09:27 PM PST I have a Xiaomi Mi A1 running Android 9 with the December 2019 security updates. The last time I remember before I fell asleep (with my phone in my hand) was 02:48. I woke a bit over 3 hours later and turned on the phone to see what time it was. Color me surprised because I was looking at a fresh installed home screen. I didn't have to use a password, gesture or anything to get into the phone. Everything was gone as well. The home screen was reset to standard factory setting Android (still 9 I think). When I went to the playstore, I logged into my Google account. I checked my apps. Yup. I installed all my apps previously on another device. I switched on the lights to see if this even was my phone (annoying my wife). It was. I almost hit the 'install everything' button when I noticed the storage space was off. I had 5% left. Strange. I quickly switched off the whole phone and restarted it... ... and everything was back to normal. All apps back, settings, photos, the works. Very, very, strange. To be safe I changed my Google password but I have one big glaring question... ... what the devil happened here and how do I prevent it from happening again? [link] [comments] |
