| Posted: 19 Dec 2019 07:05 AM PST My galaxy S9+ is not showing the edge lighting properly when the screen is on (for some reason it does work when the screen is off). From this screen recording, you can see that the top corners work right, but the bottom edge is not showing, and it has no corners on the lighting effect, no matter which style I use. Has anyone experienced this, and does anyone know what I can do to fix this? [link] [comments] |

For those that don't remember, if there was an app on your phone that had an update in the Play Store, your phone would only download a piece of the update. It would only download the part of the update that was updating the app, not the entire app all over again. This saved data, and made app updates quicker. This doesn't happen anymore, and every time there's an app update, it downloads the entire thing. What happened? [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 19 Dec 2019 12:05 PM PST I'm trying to find a good way to use an Android tablet as a portable monitor to either mirror a Windows 10 box -- or have it just be a secondary monitor. Anyone know of a way to do this? I know that VLC on Android can do this for streaming media from VLC on the Windows box -- but that is for video sent from VLC only. As far as I can find, it can't be used to send the actual Windows display to the Android device. Basically, say I'm working in Windows on my desktop and I want to show something to a client sitting at my desk. I'd like to be able to hand them a tablet and have my Windows screen cast over to it -- regardless of what app I'm using on my desktop in Windows (could be anything from Excel to Outlook to browsing in Chrome to using a custom Windows vertical market app). When I plug it into my pc, there is this Smart Switch Backup file. All my documents and pictures are there, even the file names, but I can't open them. | Recent apps screen doesn't work with other launchers Xperia 1 android 10 Posted: 19 Dec 2019 10:53 AM PST Ok i just got Xperia 1 as a replacement from my phone insurance company, as my 2 year old Nokia 8 128gb had swollen battery issue. While everything else has pretty much been ok, even though Android one software would have been better option for me. Now i have this issue with Nova launcher not being able to use recent apps screen. If i just open nova without making any launcher my default one, then recent apps button opens Xperia launcher and then right after it opens recent apps screen. If i make nova my default launcher, then recent apps button just brings up empty "screen" and repeat tries bring up system notification that says that the xperia launcher crashes constantly. Is there anything that can be done to fix this, like using some adb magic to remove that Xperia recent screen altogether to force the phone to use the default Android 10 original switcher or something like that. | Posted: 19 Dec 2019 10:24 AM PST I have been on chat with Google all morning trying to get my text messages working. They ran me through all the troubleshooting steps, clearing cache, clearing storage, reactivating Google Fi, changing networks. They had someone higher up help and she was able to receive my texts, but she is the only person. I tired hangouts.google.com and still the issue persisted. At this point Google killed the chat and the woman at Google is no longer replying and no one at Google will answer my email. Can anyone help? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 19 Dec 2019 09:52 AM PST Hi, I have a BlackBerry KeyOne, not rooted, and today I found a weird app installed, which was just called "Apps". I opened it, it immediately asked for like three different permissions, then showed a screen that nagged me to enable them. I closed it, force stopped it, and tried to find how the hell could it have gotten on my phone. Here's two screenshots from settings: (I also found out through Apex Launcher its package name was I have no clue what "App installed from Call Management" could mean - there's no such app on my phone. The only app that is allowed to install apks that isn't Play Store is F-Droid and Telegram (I know, I know, but I do a bit of dev and it's just so easier to just send myself an apk than any other method). But in either case, I should have probably have had to confirm the installation, right? So what the heck is going on? Is my phone hacked? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 19 Dec 2019 09:25 AM PST My phone updated to android 10 today, and whenever I open the keyboard, there's not extra space at the bottom for two buttons. One is a down arrow that closes the keyboard, and the other lets you select a different keyboard (https://imgur.com/a/tRyG15H). I would like to get rid of that, because its throwing off my typing because everything is shifted up, and i simply don't need it because i'm never going to switch my keyboard. | How to have two separate instances of Gmail on a phone Posted: 19 Dec 2019 09:10 AM PST I have a personal email account on my phone that the phone is tied to, but I have an official email address off of a company Gsuite as well. I want to keep my personal Gmail account in my personal gmail folder with my other personal google apps and put the work gmail account in my work folder with my other work apps. Clearly I'm not good at googling because all the questions online are how to put another account into gmail which is not what I want, these have to stay in separate places. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 19 Dec 2019 08:05 AM PST Since my Huawei P9 lite was blocked I had to force reboot it, but as soon as I tried to insert the password, the keyboard disappears after being up like half a second. I believe it's because of the cache, but in the recovery mode the phone tries and fails to install an update (?) and doesn't allow me into the recovery mode to delete the cache. I even tried plugging in a phisical keyboard but the phone won't recognize it. I cannot reset my phone since I don't wanna loose all my memories. Please what can I do? Any help is appreciated. Just now, going into Chrome, the omnibar is back at the top. Anybody having the same thing? Saw in Play Store there wasn't any update for Chrome. I have rebooted multiple times and let the battery drain out. Any other solutions before I go to the Verizon store and see what the issue is? | Posted: 19 Dec 2019 06:25 AM PST So basically, Assistant reminders, despite appearing inside GCal just like Calendar reminders, arrive only after I unlock my phone after the time's up. So if I ask Assistant to remind me about something at 18:00 but don't turn on the display until 18:10, then I don't get the notification until 18:10 (including both the sound and the pop-up). Calendar reminders that I add manually inside the app work just like they should. Why does Assistant even have a separate type of reminders and doesn't just add regular Google Calendar ones? My device has issues with decrypting storage in twrp co I can't flash anything. I don't want to flash magisk/custom ROMs unless I can keep encryption.
