    Sony X800G audio cutting

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 09:04 PM PST

I apologize in advance for the long posts and many questions, but I am not sure where to begin troubleshooting.

I recently purchased a Sony X800G Android TV and it's great! However, there are are few issues that are just bugging the heck out of me and I cannot figure them out (my wife is holding a knife at my throat as our $1k TV now has silly issues that our small/cheap TV did not :) ).

My TV is using ARC with this Monoprice HDMI cable back to this Yamaha RX-V377 receiver.
    1. Apps that play audio in Dolby Digital Plus don't output any audio to my receiver. Changing the Audio in the settings to standard Dolby Digital solves this problem, but it seems like I either have to change it per app or that it's occasionally changing back to DDP. Either is a slight pain, but isn't terrible. How can I get DDP working OR is there a "global" setting for the TV audio to never use DDP?

    1. The audio "clips" occasionally while watching (on anything we've cast at least, doesn't seem to happen with the Switch that is directly plugged in to the receiver with only video going to the TV). We get varying lengths of happiness and then get a quick cut out of the audio. It's super short and almost immediately comes back in, but is frequent enough to be annoying. Any ideas how to get rid of the audio clipping?

    2. When I power off the TV it causes my receiver to mute. This seems to cause issues if I power off while I had been casting, but then power on the Switch. The CEC handoff (or whatever it is) to the new input doesn't unmute the receiver. So I have to manually unmute the receiver about every time I change inputs (if it was all powered off in between inputs being used). Is there a way to disable the TV muting the receiver on poweroff?

    Thanks in advance!

Mi Box S as wireless hard drive?

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 04:33 AM PST

Is there an app for Android and/or Windows that could transfer files to and from Mi Box S via WLAN?

Preferably there would be no interaction needed on Mi Box S. Just choose the files and Android or PC.

I was thinking to use it as a wireless backup server for my photos and videos,...

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 08:48 AM PST

I've been checking out the trial on my shield for the past few days and Find the interface laggy. I don't know if it's the android app or just the service. Anyone else notice this?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 11:42 PM PST

To my question is nvidea really all that good or will I experience lagg and other stuff when streaming 4k and local 4k (kodi)

    Thanks in advance

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 12:18 PM PST

I notice that my wifi speed decrease a lot, when I placed my router next to my mi box, I understand that both my router and the mi box using the same frequency 2.4 GHz But I can't move my router to other place I'm my apartment. Is there any solution for that? Maybe turn off the Bluetooth on the mi box when not using the remote?

    Thanks for the helpers.

Latest: WOW Sports TV version 5.3 APK for Android

So I just picked up this Android TV Box in Thailand

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 10:09 AM PST

I stupidly forgot my FireTV Stick at home and most places here have at most one or two English channels from free C or Ku band satellite. I went to the local "True" store, told them I wanted this box (which they had on display), paid the equivalent of about $80 USD (including tax) and everything went smoothly.

I have a MiBox at home and this is so much better. The remote has way more dedicated buttons, the box has a physical gigabit ethernet port 2.4 and 5ghz wifi, 2 USB ports + Micro SD, and it's a real true Android TV box. Google Play shows it as a "Skyworth Digital HPH07".

As far as as I can tell it comes with 1 year of free programming of around 85 channels, most are Thai and/or SD, but it's still way better than the TV that's available most places. The "family pack" which includes a bunch of movie channels is available for about another $16/mo, and they have a bunch of premier league options too.

The only main drawback I've found is that for some reason it doesn't support netflix or amazon prime video through the play store, but every other app I've tried so far works (some will need VPN for content though).

Apple TV app working on android TV?

    Posted: 24 Nov 2019 08:45 AM PST

Hey guys, i tried to download the firetv version apple tv app on my mibox 3. It worked except It kept popping up the login notice with only the quit button after logging in the amazon account. I have also in advance "own" the app in the amazon appstore so i dont know why it wont work. Are there any ways to bypass the "quit" page or any modded app to be downloaded? If no, i am considering to buy a firestick instead with the black friday discount lmaooo
