I made a Reveddit app for Android to view deleted posts and comments

    Posted: 13 Oct 2021 04:50 PM PDT

(Reposting because the original link was removed due to not being a text post)

Like the title says, I made a Reveddit app for Android to view removed posts and comments. Reveddit.com is a site that uses the PushShift API to identify content that has been removed by mods on Reddit. My app is simply a conduit between your Reddit app of choice and Reveddit. When you share a URL with the app it'll parse it, extract the necessary path data to query Reveddit, and then send the new link to your browser.

To use: simply share a post or comment URL with the app and it will open Reveddit in your browser.

There are other apps that used to do this, but they're all broken as their target sites have gone down which is why I decided to make my own.

Please give it a try and let me know if you have any questions or find any bugs. App does not use any permissions, so no privacy concerns.

EDIT: the app is also open source. Code available here: https://github.com/agreenbhm/revedditapp-android

Carl Pei's Nothing partners with Qualcomm

    Posted: 13 Oct 2021 05:12 PM PDT

Nothing raises additional $50M and announces it is cooperating with Qualcomm Technologies to power tech ecosystem

"We are excited to help Nothing bring to life its highly anticipated ecosystem of tech products," said Enrico Salvatori, senior vice-president and president, Qualcomm Europe/MEA, Qualcomm Europe, Inc. "By combining the power and efficiency of Snapdragon mobile platforms with 5G connectivity across many different categories of devices, we are fostering the development of innovative products that are intended to benefit consumers and deliver richer, more immersive experiences."

Given the mention of Snapdragon specifically, we might see a phone by Nothing in the future. It also makes sense given that Nothing owns Essential.

Essential is now officially owned by Carl Pei's Nothing Technologies (9to5google)

Yes, the rumors are true, we've acquired Essential's trademarks. Today, we are all in on Nothing, and don't have anything to share at the moment regarding our plans with Essential. - Carl Pei

Open Notification adds a button to your phone's navigation bar which will pull down the notifications for you

    Posted: 13 Oct 2021 06:31 AM PDT

    Hello r/Android,

here is something for all those who are using the classic three-button Android navigation bar. Are you tired of having to reach all the way up to the top of the screen each time a new message arrives? My new app, Open Notification, adds a new button to your phone's navigation bar - pressing it will pull down the notifications for you. Because it's located in the navigation bar, the button is accessible from any app.

But there's more: my goal was to have the button react to what's on the screen: when the notifications are open, and you press the button again, it can perform a preset action of your choice: switch to the quick settings, or click on the first notification, opening the latest message for you (Pro version). When the quick settings are open, you have the choice of going back to the notifications, or dismissing them altogether with one tap (which usually takes two swipes up).

The app is available in the Play Store here. Important: In order to use this app, you need to have the classic Android navigation bar with Back, Home and Recents buttons enabled. The app will not work with gesture navigation enabled. (It also will not work on a device with physical navigation buttons.)

I hope you find this useful!

(I thought about posting this to r/androidapps only, where I have posted things before, but given that this might be of more general interest, I hope this is ok here)
