Note 1. Join our IRC, and Telegram chat-rooms! Please see our wiki for instructions.

This weekly Sunday thread is for you to let off some steam and speak out about whatever complaint you might have about:

    • Your device.

    • Your carrier.

    • Your device's manufacturer.

    • An app

    • Any other company

    Rules

    1) Please do not target any individuals or try to name/shame any individual. If you hate Google/Samsung/HTC etc. for one thing that is fine, but do not be rude to an individual app developer.

    2) If you have a suggestion to solve another user's issue, please leave a comment but be sure it's constructive! We do not want any flame-wars.

    3) Be respectful of other's opinions. Even if you feel that somebody is "wrong" you don't have to go out of your way to prove them wrong. Disagree politely, and move on.

With the "mobile gaming" thread flaring up in this sub, how much are you willing to pay for a game ?

    Posted: 11 Apr 2021 02:47 PM PDT

As we know Phone hardware getting more powerful every year. Now days even midrange hardware can game with ease. But there are some hurdles to come over on the development side of things:

    • Myriad of hardware config. Even 2 phone with snapdragon 888 can have really different performance because of thermal limitation
    • Touch control are less than optimal, controller support is there but not all games support them
    • The nature of mobile game being a "quick fun" in between doing stuff (i am aware there are some serious gamer out there but they are hardly a majority)

    • and the biggest one of all, It's been proven again and again that mobile gamer don't want to pay for the games outright.

So tell me, how much money would you spend to buy a game on android outright ? This is considering that the game is an AAA title and does not have any microtransaction at all.

Best way to bring out sidebar/side-menus using gestures

    Posted: 11 Apr 2021 10:55 AM PDT

Some of you already know that but it's sad how a lot of people still don't know how to bring out side-menu/sidebar using gestures. People think edges are only for going back.

Here's what you should do :

    • From the right side: Put your finger on the right edge. Drag it up or down a bit and then swipe left.

    • From the left side: Put your finger on the left edge. Drag it up or down a bit and then swipe right

Gestures made life a lot easier for us. Idk why people hate it so much.

I want to switch to Android from iPhone but why do people look down on you if you get an Android?

    Posted: 11 Apr 2021 05:21 AM PDT

Hello, I bought the iPhone 11 last year and now I'm thinking of buying an Android. I've realised that the iPhone in terms of design is getting worse. Now no charging brick and the rumours say no charging slot. Absolutely ridiculous. I used to have an Android and it was alright. I guess I had some sort of "budget" Motorola phone and that's why I wasn't overly amazed about it. If I were to buy an Android I know that I would get looked down on while a lot of people have iPhone. My friends have androids but that wasn't the reason to me thinking about buying one. My main reason was they are improving so much and there are hardly any limitations! Why should people be so snobby about somebody's choice of phone? Androids can do way more and there are plenty of choice. One problem would be having duplicate apps? That pretty much pissed me off last time. As I had Google Photos and then my gallery app saving the same picture every time which quickly took all the storage out of my phone and you couldn't even delete some photos on Google Photos which is absurd. Maybe this is just a phase but I'd like to switch to Android one day. People say once you go to iPhone you'll never come back but I think I'll prove to them that it's not true. Somebody please give me some clarity and tell me I'm overthinking this haha.

Edit: Yes I think Apple do shine at a lot of products and are renowned for being incredibly fast but there are alternatives that do just as good like high-end Android devices.
