Oneplus 3T (OOS 9.0.6) and root via SuperSU v2.82

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 08:08 AM PDT

I got a OP 3T and it's boot loader is unlocked and it has twrp, but now I want to root it, but there's an issue "DM Verity", do I need to disable it? To make any modifications on my system? Example: flashing a custom rom or a mod?

Edit : I decided not to root or install a custom rom on the 3T since, my family members had gifted it to me yesterday. But after 1 or 2 years of use, I will definitely root it.

Force format SD card before encryption

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 12:55 PM PDT

I recently got a new phone Galaxy A52 5G, and when encrypting the SD card (my company policy), it is forcing me to format and then encrypt. I have lot of data in the SD card which I don't want to take a back up now as I have to buy some storage device in order to back up. Is this something new that came up with Android 11 (OneUI 3.1)? It used to work fine on my older Galaxy S8 when I used to hook up a decrypted SD card, it never asked to format and then encrypt. It used to encrypt the data in the sd card also without formatting.

Any Ideas/suggestions how to proceed with this situation?

    My phone doesn't accept calls.

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 12:52 PM PDT

Hello, I have an issue where my phone doesn't allow outcoming audio for callers to receive. Basically, anytime someone calls me, they can't hear me. Or sometimes they can hear me if I mute and unmute. But anytime I call someone they can hear me. In other apps they can hear me either way. So what's the problem? I really gotta know and I'll be happy for any help.

    Screen always on vs. screensaver

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 10:35 AM PDT

I have a Galaxy S20 Plus for reference.

I work a typical 8-5 job and while I'm at work, I normally have my phone on the charger with Spotify playing in the background. Spotify plays animated videos for the music in the background and I'd like to have that always on while I'm at work. HOWEVER, outside of the normal workday, I have pictures of my kids cycle while my phone is charging, either in the car or on my charger at home.

Is there a setting to have always on display during certain hours of the day? Can this setting only be set for specific apps? For instance, if I'm in a meeting, I'm no longer listening to music and would like to revert back to my screensaver.

End goal: While on a charging dock, I would like the spotify videos to continue playing on the screen. With Spotify off, I'd like my normal screen saver to display.

My only guess: I've setup some functions utilizing 3rd party software for NFC chips. You can scan a chip and it'll change the settings you want. Thought about doing that and having a chip I scan at work, then a chip before I leave work. Other than that, that's all I can think of.

Will rooting my phone allow me to store apps on the SD card?

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 10:13 AM PDT

I downloaded a game (Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links) which requires a 2.5Gb download at one point to progress.

My phone (Huawei P9 lite) does not have enough internal storage for this download.

So I bought an SD card and put it in. I have so far managed to set it so the SD card is my default storage now.

However, despite this, the game still tries to download content to my phone's own internal storage. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled the game, hoping it would now reinstall onto my SD card, but alas, it remains on internal storage.

Looking online, it seems like you cannot move apps to the SD card, nor can you force all of the games app data to be stored on to the card (which seems like a really bad design- a phone that can't use SD cards).

A comment on YouTube implies that I can solve this issue by rooting the app on my phone.

So, is this to say, I need to root my phone, and then I can store the game and all its download data on the SD card? Is this a wise choice, what are the risks? If so, how do I do this?

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 12:15 PM PDT

    Hello

I've had this problem for months now and it is driving me mad. Chrome consistently has extremely high battery usage (see screenshot). Everything is updated, I have tried older versions, I have tried disabling it. I'm out of ideas.. I tried disabling it and using Firefox, but it still leached battery!

Any help appreciated, I'm stuck and running out of patience.

Tethering in airplane mode or something similar?

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 11:27 AM PDT

Hello everyone. Sorry for the title, it's not really descriptive of what I would like to achieve, but it's the closest I could think of without writing the whole post on the title.

So, I have an old android phone that I keep as a backup phone, but also use as USB tethering device (with a data only sim card in it), in order to be able to bring my main phone with me when I go out for a smoke, or to scroll reddit on the throne. So, being a backup phone, I have all my apps and everything installed on it and ready to go in case my main phone dies on me.

Fast forward to the whole point of the post, I'd like to have something like a one-button app or setting to switch to "hotspot mode" (but disabling every other app, or at least preventing any Internet access from them, so that I don't get any notification, or unwanted bandwidth usage). Basically something like airplane mode, but still having working 4g tethering.

Any idea on how I could achieve something like that?

    Can't install custom ROM.

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 10:43 AM PDT

Hello! Long story short: I have a Poco X3 NFC and about 2 weeks ago I decided to install Pixel Experience. Because I am a beginner in this whole "world" of custom ROMs I didn't know what to look for when I chose PE. Due to the lack of customization, I thought about installing another ROM. I entered TWRP, I followed the steps for installing the ROM and when I had to reboot to system, it bootloops in the recovery mode (TWRP). I somehow managed to learn how flash the stock MIUI with MiFlashTool and now I am stuck with the MIUI beacause of the TWRP bootloop :( Please help me!

    Thanks!

Is there any way to make sure that the apps which are given storage permission can't access the data in storage or send to the developer or another person (Android 11)

Any way that the app can only access its own folder and not other folders.

    Help: HUAWEI camera blurry

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 10:16 AM PDT

Hi! I'm wondering if anyone could help me or has any good ideas on how to fix a Huawei P Smart rear camera?

It's technically my dad's phone, so I don't really know how long it's been blurry, since I just randomly noticed it myself (I asked and he doesn't remember when it became like that). The warranty is already expired and even with insurance it would be better to just buy a new phone, hence why I'm not getting the store to fix it ASAP.

I feel like I've tried EVERYTHING: restart phone, clear cache, check settings on camera app, reset camera settings, install new camera app, try camera in safe mode etc etc etc, but the rear camera is STILL super blurry. It's like it's unable to focus (the front camera works perfect).

I even recently bought a new camera and installed it, and everything looked completely fine when I opened the backcover, so it'd not like anything was visibly broken. When I turned on the phone after having the new camera installed, the phone took 2-3 SUPER CLEAR pictures before going back to being blurry and crap again... so it seems it's not actually the camera that's broken either. Now I have no idea what to do :( Everything else on the phone works fine, so he doesn't want to buy a new one.. but I think it's kinda sad to not have a functioning camera.

Any suggestions on what to do?

What is the best video player on Android?

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 03:56 AM PDT

Whats the best music player on Android?

MX Player is my all-time favorite but it doesn't work on OxygenOS 11. The app crashes after a few minutes.

So I have tried VLC, Xplayer, and KMPlayer. They all had separate problems.

VLC: Subtitles are not getting resized properly. And I cant put black backgrounds on subs.

Xplayer: Lacks a lot of basic features. Cant restore/remember the settings.

KMplayer: Videos lagging like hell and there are too many things I don't need.

Any other player I should try?

Please Help : Upgrade Asus Google Nexus 7 (Andriod verson - 5.1)

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 09:00 AM PDT

I have an Asus Google Nexus 7 (Gen 1) , which has an android version 5.1. It runs very slow and isn't compatible with most of the playstore apps .

I want to re-furbish this model instead of buying new one, by rooting-upgrading it to a newer version of Android, so that I can atleast use it for my meetings and lectures.

    Please help.

Is there no way to remove the gesture pill on Android 11 without rooting by flashing the boot image?

    Posted: 11 Apr 2021 06:25 PM PDT

Seeing the pill doesn't bother me, but I don't like that it is burning into the screen. It seems like magisk and a magisk module will remove it, but that requires flashing the boot image, completely configuring the phone again, and installing a module.

    Is there no easier way?

I just got a Pixel 5 a little over a week ago and rotated the screen to check if it's burning in. It's already started. It's not a huge deal since I'd only rotate it to watch videos, I just can't believe google wouldn't allow for the removal of it for OLED phones, especially since their own phones are OLED.

What android phones get the most OS Updates and longest support?

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 08:29 AM PDT

I currently have an iPhone and I've realised that I miss Android way too much these past few months. Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but as the title suggests I would like to get a phone that would last a couple of years. I had a Motorola previously that upgraded from 6.0 to Android 7.0 and that was awful. All my other friends were enjoying later versions Android OS and the features they bring. Was really annoying so that's why I switched to iPhone because of the long term support for devices. I thought to myself I probably bought the wrong phone but I'm going to ask this wonderful community as I'm sure you guys know a lot. Thanks in advance :)

Media volume sometimes decreases even if slider is at max??

    Posted: 12 Apr 2021 08:06 AM PDT

This has happened on my old phone as well as my current one.

    The common denominator is Airpods.

I'll be listening to music and suddenly the volume is decreased, but the slider is at the same level. The only solution I've found so far is to turn off and on "absolute volume" in Bluetooth settings on Android.

Anyone know if this is android specific or an airpods bug?
