| How to fix lagging/freezing Samsung? Posted: 20 Apr 2021 02:03 AM PDT Should I do a factory reset? My S7 Edge is 4 or 5 years old & just recently started experiencing really bad lagging & freezing. Each new thing I do on my phone, eg open whatsapp or a different app/task, it will lag & freeze for a minute. Sometimes when I start a video call then it will freeze & glitch for 5 or more minutes before it's normal again. Its definitely not a space issue bc I have a memory card that has a lot of space still & my phone itself still has enough space. It's not too many apps running either, & it's not too many apps on my phone that I dont use etc. I cant seem to figure out the problem & it's really starting to irritate me. I'm gna do the cache clearing thing first to see if it helps. If it doesnt, should I do a factory reset? Or does anyone have any other tip? [link] [comments] |
| How do I get rid of the black bar in screenshots inside of certain apps? Posted: 20 Apr 2021 11:39 AM PDT On Android phones with notches (I don't know how it works on iPhones with notches and it's not relevant here anyway), when using certain apps that do not make use of the status bar, such as games, the screen typically does not make use of the extra screen estate. However, when taking screenshots inside of the app, you get a black bar on the side with the notch. For the Pocophone F1 at least, there's the option to "Hide and move status bar", and when you do that, any screenshots you take in those apps will lack that black bar. However, it seems that most other phones lack this option and instead only have an option to hide the notch, presumably because most people prefer having the extra screen estate outside of stuff like games. Thing is, games don't even use that extra screen estate anyway. I've tried apps like Nacho Notch and Notch Remover but they don't have the option to move the status bar, or otherwise make it such that screenshots don't show the black bar. Is there a way that I may have overlooked? I don't necessarily need the status bar to be moved, just for the black bar not to get in the way of taking screenshots in my games. For the record, the phone in question is an LG G7+ ThinQ, but if possible I'd like to have a more general solution (not that I have any hope for even device specific solutions anyway). Do any custom ROMs have an option to move the status bar? If so I'd like to try them out. [link] [comments] |

I plug in the phone (connects and starts charging), then turn on usb tethering in my settings, then the phone seemingly disconnects and no connection is found on my pc. Both needs to have separate settings which is not possible with only one app. Could somebody could help me with that, I've tried changing class name in apk editor but couldn't install the nodded app. In worst case scenario perhaps please guide me in choosing app cloner but this is the last scenerio. Posted: 20 Apr 2021 10:30 AM PDT The stock Android keyboard and Gboard (formerly Google Keyboard) has had the "option" under Settings > Dictionary > your language to enter custom words and there's an "Optional Shortcut" field. But this doesn't work the way it does on iOS. On iOS, when you set shortcuts for terms/words/etc, if you type that shortcut, the word automatically changes to what you set it to. So if you set ",,," as a shortcut for "..." when you type ",,," it automatically changes into "..." Enter Gboard. It literally just doesn't do that. I've tried this ever since I've had an Android phone that had this keyboard "ability" and it's never worked, on any phone, on any OS. I can't even figure out what the "Shortcut" feature is supposed to do. How is this not something there is more discussion about? It's a really useful feature and yet I don't see this talked about often. Do other Android phones that don't use Gboard as the stock keyboard have this functionality working correctly? | Question about getting contacts to a new phone Posted: 20 Apr 2021 10:06 AM PDT I have a moto g7. I have my yahoo account and a few gmail accounts set up. Most of my contacts are saved to my yahoo account by default (not sure why), but when i pull up my contacts in my yahoo account they arent showing up. But, if I change it to save to gmail instead, it actually shows up in my google contacts. So I really dont feel like going through hundreds of contacts and doing this one by one. Is there anyway to automatically change all the contacts that are saved to yahoo to gmail? Im getting a new phone and im worried about not being able to transfer all the contacts over. Is there any way around this other than a factory reset? There was a notification on screen about a scheduled update but it wasnt started. Also strangely it doesnt lock up when you enter 3 incorrect PIN attempts. It's a UK contract phone with O2. Sadly she has no cloud backups so all precious photos could be lost. | Google Calendar app broken on ZenFone 7 Pro Posted: 20 Apr 2021 09:42 AM PDT I was using the app today just fine, then tried checking an appointment for a freaking Corona Test... and the whole app was empty. The widget and app "work". But it doesn't display any appointments. I can swipe through the weeks. Clicking the +button doesn't do anything. Also settings doesn't show anything. I got quite the fright thinking my account is wiped, but it's all still there in the browser version and in the linked Outlook calendar. So the problem is within the app. I force closed it, wiped the cache and data, updated the app then restarted the phone. But nothing has changed - neither the widget nor the Android app show anything. I just went into the accounts and synced the Google account manually but no results. ... actually, just saw that some very old Reminders are there, but no Calendar stuff. It's like the app cannot communicate with the Google calendar server any more and "synced" me an empty calendar. Anyone else got this issue? [link] [comments] |

| Android 10 - Hotspot with more devices connected than there should be Posted: 20 Apr 2021 07:58 AM PDT I recently upgraded to 10. When I now look at my hotspot it will sometimes say that more devices are connected to the hotspot than there should be - only one, my laptop. Security is set to WPA2-Personal and a password is set. I mainly notice this when the laptop drops the connection (or it could be the phone - who knows) and I see the hotspot has sometimes 20+ devices connected. Is there a way to stop this? | Posted: 20 Apr 2021 07:37 AM PDT So I have a bit of a storage problem. I noticed my phone [honor 7s] was getting full so I tried moving some files to my SD card but that barely did anything. Then I checked what was taking up all my space, and it was apps. I knew you could move apps to be stored in SD card but I didn't know how so I tried looking in YouTube. Followed a tutorial that just said that you needed to format the card so I did [moving files out obviously]. According to the video I should be able to go to app info, tap the app and then storage where there would be a button to switch where it is stored, yet I did not see such a button. For example: the ... when someone is typing, if an item is received or read. I do like the look but have noticed when I messaged a friend whom also has an android device, I am not able to see any of the above features or get a reply unless I turn on wifi or data if I'm out and about. Is this a glitch? I only realized this was happening because I had to go to get surgery done and found it odd I didn't hear from a friend of mine, then low and behold it came through once I was in recovery, turned on wifi/data to check emails.
