| Moving files to SD Card corrupted them Posted: 15 Oct 2020 06:26 AM PDT I have a Galaxy S10, I had a lot of videos from vacation and wanted to move them to my sd card because it's three times the size of my phone. I used the system file manager app and transferred probably 1-2gbs worth of videos in one "move". Now the videos show the correct length and size, but most of them stop after 10-30 seconds. Did I really just lose everything? The SD card is fine everything in it works and my computer accepts it with no problems. [link] [comments] |
| "Unusual traffic from your computer network detected" using google maps ever since i visited canada Posted: 15 Oct 2020 10:10 AM PDT OnePlus6 running Android OxytgenOS 10.3.5 T-Mobile I visited Montreal in Aug 2019. Since then there has been many updates to my OS, and to the Google Maps app. The problem is when I am on T-mobile LTE (doesn't happen on wifi) and am in Google Maps, if I look up a location and hit "Start" instead of "Directions" and then "Start" I get an error. A page comes up from google.ca (even though I am in the states) that says Unusual Traffic From Your Computer Network has been detected, do this captcha. [link] [comments] |

| How much of a difference does the different Android-based OSs have on performance? Posted: 15 Oct 2020 08:39 AM PDT I'm curious how much the Android-based OSs from the different phone manufactures impact overall speed and performance. I don't have experience with all the different OSs hence why I'm asking. If four devices have the exact same hardware, how much will their OS influence performance, for example MIUI vs ColorOS vs OxygenOS vs Stock Android etc. In some cases would it be more viable to pick a device because of its OS even if on paper it has worse hardware? Thanks [link] [comments] |
| Getting into my deceased husband's phone Posted: 15 Oct 2020 09:15 AM PDT Hi all, this is my last desperate attempt to try and get help for this problem. Here's what's going on...I apologize if I am rambly, this is very difficult for me and I'm not 100% sure what is relevant. My husband passed away unexpectedly a little over a month ago. Yes, I'm fucking devastated. We didn't have social media and tried to be careful about our privacy, so nothing is backed up on google drive other than his contacts (no pictures, etc). I have access to his gmail account. His phone is a Galaxy S9. He showed me his pattern lockscreen code so many times, and I would always forget it because I thought it was complicated. Now there are only 2 attempts before his phone is reset. I know I could normally recover access through Google's Find My Device, however he put his phone in airplane mode just before he died, and I can't get it out of airplane mode... I've talked to several people about this, and finally got ahold of Samsung on the phone. They basically told me I am S.O.L. due to the phone being in airplane mode and he should back things up. Well, a little late for that now... I've kept him on my Verizon account in case that is helpful for some reason...I also sent Samsung for their 1:1 online "help" the death certificate and the IMEI # for the phone. They were less than helpful and essentially sent me a password reset email. I really want to remove the lockscreen and be able to access our data, pictures, etc...but I'm very worried there may be no option to do this. Does anyone have any insight or help for me? | Pinning chat apps to the taskbar Posted: 15 Oct 2020 12:54 PM PDT Hi! I'm wondering if anyone can help me out. So when you get messages from apps like WhatsApp/Telegram, or basically any messaging app, you get the notification in the drop-down panel on Android, right? Well, I'm wondering if there's a way to pin a specific conversation, so that you can talk to people even when playing games and stuff. Asking because every time I tab out of a game I play, it disconnects so it would be nice if there was a way of keeping the 'chat' in the taskbar. [link] [comments] |
| Need help deciding on a upgrade, thinking of the google pixel 4a Posted: 15 Oct 2020 12:32 PM PDT Hello everyone, I am thinking of upgrading my Samsung Galaxy s7 to a google pixel 4a. My question is about the video and focus on the google pixel 4a because I want to use the phone I get as my main camera for recording Pokémon and other unboxing videos. Is the quality of the camera good enough to record unboxing videos of cards to have a good focus so that people watching can read and see things clearly? My Samsung's quality is incredibly poor so I am looking for an upgrade and the 4a is the perfect price for me, thank you all for any advice and help!! [link] [comments] |
| How to get Google News in snapshot? Posted: 15 Oct 2020 12:25 PM PDT So I had an email earlier showcasing (advertising) snapshot in Google assistant and one of the features mentioned was top Google news stories at the start of your day. I've never seen this and I can't find an option to enable it. Anyone know how to get it? My guess is, this is another US only feature for now but if that's the case, why the fuck are Google advertising it to UK users? [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 15 Oct 2020 12:24 PM PDT I got a notification saying that my phone was low on (internal) storage space. I started digging around (Settings - Apps) and found that Facebook (an app I use maybe twice a month) was using 19.1 (!) GB of internal storage. 18+ GB of that is in the cache. I click into "Storage" and click "clear cache" and it shows 18+ GB of storage freed up on my phone. But then I force close "Settings," reopen it, and the cache is right back at 18+ GB like i never did anything. Has anybody seen this before? [link] [comments] |
| Revive a dead Android phone through an emulator. Posted: 14 Oct 2020 09:13 PM PDT Title says it all. Not sure if this is too advanced of a question, and if the possibility exists, but I have an old phone running on jellybean/lollipop and figured rather than buying a new android device if I could just revive the phone on a laptop /computer instead. Can I create an image of my device in its current state and load it on an emulator? Would it retain the contents of the device account such as images media, contacts, etc. I'm okay if the account has to run on the most recent android 10 /11 version, as long as it retains the account contents. What would be the best way to create an image of my current android device and to load it through an emulator if possible. Also which emulator would be best suited for an idea like this. Thank you. | Posted: 15 Oct 2020 12:09 PM PDT My pixel 5 arrived today and whilst I love the phone as a whole - the front camera seems to perform terribly. Is there anyway to optimise the front camera? I feel like it's a few years behind its peers and I have no idea why when it's photo taking abilities are meant to be the main selling point. There's no image sharpness despite turning on the front facing flash and turning off the beauty feature. I'm very disappointed as I feel as though I've downgraded from my huawei p20 pro, and considering returning my pixel for a galaxy s20. [link] [comments] |
| Media Players becoming unresponsive on Pause Posted: 15 Oct 2020 11:18 AM PDT I've had a problem lately when listening to music/podcasts. When I pause my media via headphone buttons, it won't play again. Upon checking my phone, the media player information is gone from the lock screen, even though it's been paused for mere seconds. After I unlock my phone, the apps are still running and the player notification is on top of the app drawer. What's going on? This happens across 3 seperate media applications. [link] [comments] |

| Google app draining up to 52.8% of battery per day! HELP Posted: 15 Oct 2020 06:31 AM PDT Hello, Recently, I have noticed that my phone can not even last one full day without charging. I went to investigate and from settings, found out that the Google app on my phone is draining on average 40% of battery per day. Once, it even reached 52.8%! I have done everything in my power to fix this. That means uninstalling Google app updates, clearing memory, clearing cache, clearing memory of all google related apps, clearing cache of all google related apps, etc. The only thing I have not done is factory reset my phone. I do not currently want to do that, because due to the coronavirus guidelines, we have to do online school and I have a lot of important documents on my phone regarding that. Now, you may ask "Why not back them up?" The thing is that whenever I factory reset anything and think I backed everything important up, I later discover that I forgot at least one thing. Some info that may help you:

| How do I "move" a Play Store app to a specific Google accounts? Posted: 15 Oct 2020 06:41 AM PDT I have two Google accounts synced to my phone. Account 1 is my primary that I use for G Pay. My payment method is already linked to this. I also have Play store credits from the Google Survey questions. Account 2 is my "secondary" account. It's the first account I signed up with Gmail, and I still maintain it for various reasons. I don't know how, but my phone apps are scattered between two different apps. Specifically, a couple apps with in-app purchases are linked to account 2 and require me to provide a payment method. When I go into the play store on my phone I have no way of telling which app is under which account. At one point I uninstalled an app, went into my Play store account, checked to make sure I was under the account I wanted (account 1) and re-downloaded it. I was not successful with this. Is there a way to figure out
Thanks for any feedback. EDIT: I did some more digging and honestly never realized I could access the Play Store on my web browser. I went to my primary account and searched one app in particular. It said it was not installed. When I logged into my secondary account it said it was installed. So I uninstalled the app from my phone, went on the play store under my primary account, and clicked "install" to send it to my phone for downloading. At that point the payment method showed exactly how I wanted it. I was able to then use my account credits. The only downside is that I lost the data associated with this app (there was no log-in information that saved anything to an account). I'm not that upset over losing data from this specific app. I'm going to test this later with some other apps. [link] [comments] |

| Does my MediaTek phone support qc3.0 charging? Posted: 15 Oct 2020 03:36 AM PDT I have a REDMI10X 5G, when charging, I use AMPERE app to test it . It shows that it is about 4.5v, 4A. But the official charging line of this phone only supports 3A. Why is this? (Data shows this phone supports 22.5 watts. I wonder if I want to buy a charging line that supports 5A.) And do you think MediaTek phone support qc3.0 charging? [link] [comments] |

| Do demo phones normally use the same hardware has other models? Posted: 15 Oct 2020 02:51 AM PDT I have an LG G8 and I had a woopsie, so now I am in need a new screen. The cost of a new OLED is a lot about the same as the phone cost second hand. I feel has though I would be better of buying a used one and can it for the screen I need. Plus the added benefit of if the headphone jack goes out or something similar I would have a spare. This in mind I found a bunch of used demo models on ebay for even cheaper. I have no intention of actually using the demo phone itself so the differences in software wouldn't affect me. The issue is I don't know if the parts used in demo models are the same or not, I don't want to drop 80 or so dollars just to get a cheap knockoff LCD screen that isn't what I want, especially when I can find the same crappy screen for half of that elsewhere. I don't really want to get a piece of junk, and have overpaid for a piece of junk on top of that. TLDR: Need a new screen for LG G8 LM-G820QM, do demo phones like this use the same OLED?
