Posted: 21 Aug 2020 07:43 AM PDT Wear OS has everything that I need, but I don't understand why it is not much appreciated compared to what Apple's whatever the os name for watches is? Can someone explain me please? [link] [comments] |
Micro SDHC Card won't delete files Posted: 21 Aug 2020 12:09 PM PDT I had to change my phone due to the old one being on deathsbed. When I inserted my 16gb microsdhc card (sandisk brand) into my pc via adapter to transfer old photos and erase useless files before inserting it into the new phone, I discovered I couldn't erase files at all. They seemed to be gone but after I inserted it again into the pc or any phone the files were still there. I can't even format the damn thing, it will always say "Windows could not complete the formatting". Any ideas? The card switch isn't set on "read only" and I'm all out of ideas. [link] [comments] |
Best lightweight app for tech-unsavvy parents to block/silence spam calls? Posted: 21 Aug 2020 09:43 AM PDT Hi, my parents' phones are both inundated with spam callers so they both essentially ignore their phones when they ring. What's the best app out there that will block such calls for them? Preferably one that's:
One phone is rooted with LineageOS and the other is stock Samsung (if that makes a difference) TIA [link] [comments] |

Why do I have to do captcha for Google search or maps? Posted: 21 Aug 2020 09:41 AM PDT http://imgur.com/gallery/Xzo1xhM I get this pop up every few searches and it messes everything up. I thought It was the phone, or the WiFi so I turned WiFi off, still happened. Switched phones, still happens. Is it some rogue app? Thoughts? [link] [comments] |

I guess this is probably some software issue? Can any of you guys have any idea how might I solve this problem? Thank you in advance. [link] [comments] |
Mysterious images taking up space Posted: 21 Aug 2020 11:26 AM PDT I have a OnePlus7 and recently tried to clear up some space on my phone. Since media was taking up about 48gb, I decided to start there. After clearing nearly half of my media, I found that only 4gb had been saved. On my settings, it stated that my gallery took up around 800mb of space (a few other photo apps was also taking up space), and right at the bottom, there was an "Images" icon, which was taking up 42gb of space. What are these images and where can I find them?? [link] [comments] |
Best external mic for Pixel 'A' series // Android Posted: 21 Aug 2020 11:25 AM PDT Hi all, I had a Pixel 3a and since it's a 'budget' phone, recording band practice demos on it using a recording app sounds like absolute garbage (the recording is clipped and crazy distorted, and I've tried (and paid for) multiple solid recording apps). Has anyone had any success with any external mic compatible with android devices when recording loud music and/or concerts? I'm considering getting the 4a, but worried it's going to have the same problems with a crappy microphone (I've also tried multiple external mics but not getting better results, in truth). From what I see online, there are so many (and better) options available for iPhone users. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Help needed! | Virus auto installs app Posted: 21 Aug 2020 10:21 AM PDT So I tried downloading xmodgames to check if it had a memory editor, but turns out I gave superuser permissions to a virus! Great! The app "inmobi" (i guess adware) installs itself all the time, even after uninstalling xmodgames and inmobi. Is there any way to save my phone? :/ Video of it happening: [link] [comments] |

Issue with transferring apps to SD card Posted: 21 Aug 2020 09:56 AM PDT Hi folks, Recently something changed and the usual "your phone is dangerously low on space" message popped up. I have a 64gb SD card in my Samsung S7. Normally I have spotify, podcast addict and some other apps stored on the SD card as well as photos and videos. Recently though when I tried to put the apps back on the SD card it says there is not enough space despite being over 30gb free on the SD card. I have taken the SD card out, formatted it and put it back in and still can't transfer spotify and other apps to SD card due u insufficient space. I have allowed all apps permission regarding storage and still cannot move items to SD card. At this stage should I try use a new SD card? From reading previous issues on this I can't seem to format the SD card as internal storage as I don't get that option. Any advice is really appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Bricked my phone while updating ROM. Please help Posted: 21 Aug 2020 09:40 AM PDT I have a ZTE Axon 7. It was previously running TWRP 3.2.3.0L v1.3 and crDroid 9.0-20200514. The device had full disk encryption enabled. I couldn't get Google Play Services to work using any of the standard tricks. I decided to factory reset via Settings. My device rebooted into TWRP, which asked for my device password. When I entered it, it didn't accept it. (I had earlier run into this problem when I considered trying to update my ROM. I decided against it, because I couldn't get TWRP to mount my data partition.). I figured while I was in TWRP anyway, and since I had already committed to factory reset, I would just prepare to flash the updated ROM. Following the crDroid instructions here, I wiped cache, system, vendor, and data from within TWRP. Unfortunately, I then accidentally rebooted before I flashed the new ROM. My phone is now stuck at the boot screen. I cannot get into recovery. I can, however, get into EDL. The device shows up in Windows 10 Device Manager as Qualcom HS-USB 9008, so I should be able to use the Axon7_EDL_Tool that is on XDA. The good news is that I have everything backed up (using Titanium, and I have a several month old nandroid backup). Is there any way I can make this device work again? [link] [comments] |
Google Play and YouTube loading ridiculously slow Posted: 21 Aug 2020 09:12 AM PDT For as long as I've had my S9, my google play store and YouTube have both worked fine, but over the past two or three days, they're both having loading issues. YouTube's UI and thumbnails load fine and scrolling through it all looks working as intended, but when I try loading a video, it can take anywhere between one and three minutes for the video to actually load and start playing. Usually once it starts, it has no problems buffering or anything, but if there's a midroll ad, it will stop the video to load the ad for a minute or so, then play the ad, then spend another minute loading the video again With the Google Play store again, the UI and app pages load in just fine, but when I try to download anything, it just sits on 'waiting for download' forever. I've emptied the caches, restarted my phone, closed all other apps etc. but nothing seems to fix it. My other apps all work just fine when loading media like Twitter or Discord and my PC has no issues either, but the play store and YouTube on my S9 just don't want to cooperate. Anyone have a clue about what the problem could be and how I could fix it? [link] [comments] |
Connecting an android device as a "virtual flash drive" to older device without rooting Posted: 21 Aug 2020 03:09 AM PDT Hi, I've had this issue that when I try to connect my phone (xiaomi mi 9t pro) to the USB port of older devices such as TVs and car stereo systems it says that the device isn't supported or it starts reading forever My Google researches have been pretty much useless since all I can find is stuff that needs rooting (if it's necessary i might do it, so will appreciate a reliable tutorial) or how to connect an android to a PC.... The thing I'm looking for is a way to create a folder that will appear as the only content of the "flash drive" connected to the device Thanks everyone and have a nice day! [link] [comments] |
Things to cut off in Android from connecting to the internet to ensure maximum privacy? Posted: 21 Aug 2020 08:41 AM PDT So I am currently using Mullvad VPN, and they recently introduced a wonderful split-tunneling feature in their 2020.6 beta-l app. By enabling VPN all time and blocking connections without VPN, I can effectively cut of the internet access to things not going through VPN tunnel. It has pretty much everything which I can exclude from connecting to VPN (effectively cutting them off the internet). My question is, what system level services should I cut off the internet which would not make the phone unusable (Samsung Galaxy Note 9) but would ensure maximum privacy? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Aug 2020 08:31 AM PDT I have a 64gb sd card on s9+ and i noticed that there's a 15 gb folder called android that is just filled with empty folders , so would deleting it cause any problems? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Aug 2020 08:01 AM PDT Ok so my pixel 2 can no longer charge, the socket dosn't click and the cable dosent say in. But my issue is that for as long as i can remember it would cut out normal right at the point of action/reward ie click a link wait (i got low single home and work) page comes up then black screen or select a pod cast buffer then it dies ect. Sometimes it cuts to black other time it would boot down. Most of the time it imposible to restart without plugging in the charger some time it would just turn on again. Its battery life was next to usless charge 4 times a day minimum. It was normally better between 100 to 50% battery, i could never see any difference with battery saving on or off. Anyway i thought i got unlucky with a bad phone, but now my old phone htc 10 is doing the same which is new to it. Have i got a dogy app? What can i check/do. I think can post a list of apps in Common if anyone deams it usfull got to post before my phone dies [link] [comments] |
Open different workspace by unlock password Posted: 21 Aug 2020 07:23 AM PDT Do Android (or some launcher) support opening a different workspace by unlock password? For example, if I use password A on the lock screen, it will show Telegram icon on the desktop. But if I use password B, it will not show Telegram installed. Same should go for photos: photos taken on workspace A should not be visible in workspace B. Why do somebody need this? If you're not aware of what happens in Belarus: some unidentified guys stop you on the street (any place, any time) and ask you to unlock your phone. If you deny, they'll kidnap and beat you. If you unlock and there're photos of protests or a subscription to any forbidden channel (even non-gov news channel), they'll kidnap and beat you. [link] [comments] |
