Alert for users of Samsung Phones with the Samsung Members App

This was posted to the Samsung forums and was quickly downvoted. So, I'm putting this here for your edification.

Problem: After the 2/2020 release of Samsung's variant of Android, massive amounts of storage mysteriously started to be consumed.

Root cause identified: Samsung Members application

Issue: Changes have been made to the Samsung Members application resulting in it consuming all free storage. Based on user reports on the Google Playstore for this app, the change was part of the 2/2020 release.

Resolution process: After I got the out-of-storage error when trying to open my text-messages app, I ended up having to delete 1Gb of data/applications/personal-files to regain control of my phone. The reason this was not identified by the storage monitoring utilities in Android is the amount of memory used by this app isn't properly reported. To determine which app was consuming the memory, I downloaded the AVG Cleaner app. Once I deleted the application, the consumed memory was once again made available with no other system on the phone impacted.

Recommendation: Delete the Samsung Members app if you are experiencing storage issues.
