I switched to Google Messages, and now all of my conversations are one-sided...

    Posted: 15 Feb 2020 08:51 AM PST

I decided to switch to Google Messages so that I can have messaging on the web. I was previously using Samsung's messaging. I switched over to Google as the default messaging app, and it's fine except that all of my messages came over weird.

When you look at all of my prior messages with everyone, you can only see their side of the conversation, all of the bubbles with my responses and messages are missing and only the ones from my contacts are showing if that makes sense.

Did I miss a step or something? I want to use Google messaging, but not if I'm going to lose half of all my message history.

    There's something wrong with Google

    Posted: 15 Feb 2020 12:52 AM PST

A few months back, when I was in the Google beta program, I received an update that got me dark mode for Google. I was excited, but within a few days, the dark theme changed back to white. When I checked the general settings in Google , the option to change the theme was gone. But then yesterday I received an update and when I checked the general settings, the option to change the theme came back. Can someone please explain what is happening with Google's dark mode?

Can I change firmware on a Chinese version SM-N9760 to a US firmware version?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2020 06:10 AM PST

Hey guyyyyys. My Note 10 from South Africa grew legs and vanished in China...(Pickpocket) and so I bought a Note10+ 5G version. My question is, would it be possible to flash its firmware to another country? Or change settings to allow me to sign in with my South African Samsung account?

    Google gives no lead.

PANIC: Broken AVD Path; check (path) - anyone know how to fix it?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2020 12:21 PM PST

So I'm trying to run my app on Android Studio, but I was getting an error - missing AVD path or something like that. I fixed it by defining two system variables, I think it was ANDROID_HOME and ANDROID_SDK_ROOT. But now I'm getting the error from the title. I tried many things, like reinstalling Android Studio, moving and deleting the SDK folder, and many different things. I think It might be caused by my User folder containing non-ASCII letters, but I don't want to change it. Please help.

Issues with typing and Google Play after last update.

    Posted: 15 Feb 2020 11:44 AM PST

Hi, I have a Samsung Galaxy S9. After the latest update, non of my smart typing features are working such as predictive text and auto replace, punctuation with words like you're/they're etc no longer get added in either. I also have an issue with 99% of my album art disappearing from Google Play. I have tried turning on and off settings etc and I can't seem to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

    Problem with fast charging

    Posted: 15 Feb 2020 11:20 AM PST

I have a Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus. I've had it since August 2019 and its been a fantastic phone. But about a week ago the fast charging has not been working. when i plug in my charger it says that it's fast charging but it charges very slow and it takes about 10-15 minutes just for it to charge 1%. I checked to see if i had any background apps running and i did so i cleared the background apps. i also deleted any apps giving me malware and i optimized my phone and it says that its good but it still charges very slowly. Does anybody have a solution?

Typing horrible after Android 10 update

    Posted: 14 Feb 2020 05:36 PM PST

Ever since the last update to my phone i can no longer type accurately on my phone. The problem seems that if I type to fast it will ignore some of the characters. For example if I type "the" if I hit "e" to quickly after "h" the "e" never registers.... I have a note 9 and it's no longer useable because of this.

Is there a setting related to typing in Android 10 that has changed?

Emulate older Android version for specific app?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2020 10:16 AM PST

    Hi all,
I have some old APK's I want to try running on my phone. However, these apps seem to boot but then get stuck on the same screen over and over again. I was thinking maybe my android version is too high, and I was wondering if it was possible to emulate and older version of android for that specific APK, just like you can boot in compatibility mode on Windows pc's. Does something like this exist?
My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S7 (SM-G930F) running Android 8.0.0 and Samsung Experience 9.0. Thanks in advance!

Latest Android update (12/02/20) has ruined my Pixel 2 XL battery life

    Posted: 15 Feb 2020 09:51 AM PST

Sorry if this has been posted before but since updating to the latest Android version my battery is only lasting about 10 hours at best, without me even using it much.

According to my battery usage, I've only actively used it for ~40 minutes today and I'm down to 24%. Whereas I used to have to use it very heavily to reach that point by the end of the day.

Has anyone else had the same issue or knows a fix?

New phone not giving me notifications for missed calls

    Posted: 15 Feb 2020 09:17 AM PST

I got a new phone yesterday, an LG V50 ThinQ. It's my first Android in a decade.

I'm not being alerted about any missed call. There's nothing about a call on my lock screen, no notification on the phone icon on the home screen, there's absolutely no way to tell I've recieved a call unless I click into my phone and look under recents. I'm getting the notifications for text messages.

    How do I fix this?

Google play services not supported on my device?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2020 07:32 AM PST

This morning I woke up and apparently my Google play services are not working. It won't let me use any Google apps at all. I restarted the phone still nothing. I completely updated my phone to the latest software version 8.1.0 and my Google play store app disappeared.

    Any ideas?

Moto g5+ clock shows correct time, every app thinks it's a different time

    Posted: 15 Feb 2020 06:52 AM PST

The clock on my screen always shows the correct date and time, but basically every app I use thinks it's a completely different time.

    Some examples:

-My alarm will go off on the right time, but the countdown it gives is always off by a random amount of minutes

-Games that have events every few hours always send me a ton of notifications, as if days have passed in the game. For Hayday I usually get all these within ten minutes: "Your boat is arriving soon" "Your boat has arrived" "Your boat is leaving soon" "A new boat has arrived". The boat always stays for 12 hours so there is no way I should get these notifications so quickly after eachother. It happens with every single game

-With every restart, Whatsapp notifies me that my phones time or date isn't the same as the one used by Whatsapp

I have no idea where to even begin troubleshooting. My phone has been dropped thousands of times, could that cause this? Or is it just a wrong setting somewhere? I'm on Android 8.1

How can I increase the audio latency/delay to my bluetooth headphones?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2020 06:22 AM PST

    Hi everyone,

I like to stream my smartphones display to my smartTV (Samsung). But it has a delay of around 1second. That's not a problem because I mostly use it to play/stream videos. But when I let the audio play through my smartphone or my bluetooth headphones (with bluetooth to my smartphone) the sound is real time but the video/visuel on the TV is delayed.

My idea was to add the same latency to my smartphones audio, e.g. with a app (or settings in my smartphone). I can't find such a app or setting.

Smartphone: Samsung Galaxy S8 + Headphones: GalaxyBuds

    Thank you very much!

    Ridiculous buffering in YouTube app?

    Posted: 14 Feb 2020 09:22 PM PST

Not sure if anyone else here has experienced this so I figured I'd check here. On my S10+ It seems that whenever I try and watch a YouTube video, anything above 720p (and even sometimes 720p itself) experiences massive buffering and will only load the next 10-20 seconds have to buffer again.

I know it's not my network speed since I encounter no issues on my pc and running YouTube on the same device on the browser works with no issues. I've tried clearing the cache and that worked for a single video but soon as I closed and reopened the app I encountered the issue again.

Clock App timer only starts ringing after ~1:20 overtime

    Posted: 15 Feb 2020 01:08 AM PST

So lately i got a new phone (Huawei Y5 2019) and i didn't like the pre-installed clock app so i installed the standard android one from google.

Now what happens with the Google Clock is (as stated in the title) if i locked my phone the timer only starts ringing after it passed the set time over 1 minute ago, or if i get a (whatsapp-)message or i unlock my phone and do stuff when the timer runs out (or had run out already) ...

anyone had this problem before ? and a solution ? or alternatively knows of a Clock App that allows for running multiple timer at the same time with, preferable, the input being like the google clock app ? (so i can just type numbers in, instead of scrolling some dials and what not)

thanks in advance for any help :)

    Help with Google voice typing/assistant.

    Posted: 15 Feb 2020 04:52 AM PST

So I have been using the Google voice typing / dictation keyboard for quite some time, and have come to rely on it, but I have the number of recent crippling issues.

I just had to change out my phone very briefly at the end of Jan - it was gone for about one week with a warranty replacement, and when I got it back, I noticed that the feature was performing very differently, and much worse. (For the record, it was an insurance replacement, so I literally got the same exact phone on the same exact carrier - Galaxy S9 / Verizon - running the same stock OS).

On my old phone, the Google voice input thing seemed to have been a standalone feature. - In theory it could be used with the Google keyboard, but technically I never did since that was not the default option on my phone - the Samsung Keyboard was. This would default to Samsung Voice Typing, which is a little different, but you could change it to use the Google one if you wanted. In addition the open-source 3rd party keyboard I ended up using, had a microphone button, that would automatically use the Google voice typing if you gave it permission (and any keyboard could do this).

    • In addition it seemes to be a standard feature of the phone, or at least that pre-installed version of Android, since.ths Voice Typing settings were actually accessible directly from the core phone settings menu, and seemed pretty keyboard and input dependentthere also seemed to be a lot more explosive control over what data was sent to Google servers, and if it was retained. offensive word blocking, dictionary choice and so on.

On my new, but otherwise completely identical, device, behavior is very different.

    • First, stand-alone feature seems to be completely gone. when I looked at the pre-installed keyboard / text input options, there was no Google Voice as there was before, only Samsung voice typing. for the option on the app store, there did not seem to be anything fitting that search query.

    • Eventually I figured out that I might need to try the Google "Gboard" app (which I never had to use before), and when I downloaded it and gave it keyboard permissions, it does seem to have the Google voice typing option. However, it seems exclusively tied to that keyboard, and nothing else.

    • My usual third-party keyboard, which still has a microphone button, but when you hit it, it does not find the Google voice typing - even with gboard installed - and tells you to go look for something in the app store. But when you hit "OK" though, it does not take you to anything in specific - no standalone Google Voice plugin. recycling through a number of external keyboards, and seeing if any of them would recommend that, I got no direct link, but through some of the dakshin I figured I might need to try Google Assistant - and I do remember some years ago, when I set up my first phone, that might have been something I enabled. However, when I downloaded it and installed it on my phone, and opened it, it said it was not compatible with this device. Maybe it is out of date, but that seems odd to me on a Galaxy s9 running the latest Android version, since that is hardly a slow phone.

    • I have kind of given up and just started to use the Gboard voice typing, but the performance is atrocious. It does not in any way consistently capitalize the first word of every sentence, even when that setting is enabled. And, in some strange bug, after I use it for about 1.5 - 3 days, it starts randomly adding a space before every kind of punctuation - commas, periods, question marks, etc - that it did not just a moment before, with the same exact voice input. The only way to fix this is seemingly to delete and reinstall, and then wait for the problem to happen again, rinse and repeat.

So, is there any way to get back the original standalone Google voice input app / plug-in, with its more robust settings and ability to be used with other keyboards?

If not, and I am stuck with Gboard only, any recommendations to fix these bugs?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2020 04:49 AM PST

I have a redmi note 8T but i really can't stand MIUI it's driving me nuts so I figure Ill give pixel experience a go.

I go to unlock the bootloader, and it tells me I have to wait 168 hours !! that's a whole week, why must I wait a week to unlock the bootloader? Is there any way around this? The other question I have is that it says I won't be able to use find my phone, are they referring to the MI find my phone or the google one or both?

    Thanks.
